Chapter 28
Her small past It was Sunday. The busiest day of the week in a mall. It’s the day when people have an off
day from work and decide to spend some time in the mall to pass time and buy things. At the same time,
it’s the perfect day for small thiefs to get their work done, almost getting rich. She remembers coming to
malls like this every Monday at some point of time. That point of her life was the time before she met her
mate. It’s before she was pregnant and got captured. It was a lot before she was insalved by Derrick.
It was the time when she was nothing but a small thief of the town.
Now that she thinks, life was a lot better at that time. She had nothing to worry about. Only stealing,
running away and then enjoying it. She was smart in her job. Never in her career she got caught for
stealing. She was an expert.
It was mostly because she loved her job. She used to love the adrenaline rush it used to give her. She
used to love how she used to run like the free bird after stealing someone’s purse or moneybags. How
fun it was until it wasn’t anymore. Her once loved job is now loathed by her. Just because she was
accused of something she never did. Even though she never got caught for stealing in her life, when for
the first time in her life she was blamed for stealing with no fault of her own, it hurt her a lot. Since that
day she left it. And it was the same day when she met her mate, got rejected by him and got accused of
stealing something she had no idea about.
She let out a sigh and shook her head to get those thoughts out of her head. She wasn’t here to think
about all these. She had a motive and she has to get it done today only.
With that thought, she started to look around for some familiar faces. She had two plans. Along with
finding those familiar faces, she planned to let them find her as well by doing things which will attract
attention toward her. She did that by telling a few people to be careful of their wallets and all.
She spent around thirty minutes doing that and decided that it was enough. She then proceeded to go
and look for a job. Her first plan is to get a job in some cafe or restaurant as a waitress. She will also try
as a chef or baker. Because she was kinda proud of her cooking and baking skills.
“Hello, I have seen your poster for the waitress job. I am wondering if you are still hiring.” Athena said in
a polite tone after getting inside a medium cafe which was really busy. Seems like it was popular here. A
young waitress, around her age, looked at her from head to toe with a judging look on her face.
“From which pack you are?” She asked in a stern and impatient tone.
“I…….am not from any pack currently but I am staying in the Crescent Mystery pack.” Athena answered
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtand she expected that was enough introduction. The waitress’s eyes widened as soon
as she heard Athena and Athena was guessing that her prediction was correct. Alpha Dominic’s name
was enough for everyone. “You are staying in the Crescent Mystery pack. Oh my!” The waitress
exclaimed in excitement before pulling Athena inside the cafe. Athena couldn‘t help but roll her eyes at
the high hormonal woman. “You want the job? It‘s yours. But there is a problem.” She looked sad.
“What is it?” Athena asked with a small frown.
“You see, we have already hired the waitress but as you are staying with Alpha Dominic’s pack, I can
surely manage something for you.” The girl said with a little blush. That was the stupidest thing Athena
has ever heard. Just because she was staying with Dominic, she was ready to give her a job? And from
the act of her, Athena was sure that she had a crush on Dominic. Stupid woman!
‘Are you sure it’s her stupidity that’s irritating you, not something else?’ she heard her wolf’s teasing
voice, making her roll her eyes. “Thank you so much. But I don‘t want to trouble
you. The cafe seems a little busy today. If you want I can work part-time just for today. Can you pay me
by the hour?” Athena offered. At that moment she needed enough to make a dress herself, if not buy.
She doesn’t think she will be able to arrange a dress within a few hours of earning.
“That sounds perfect! We will be busy tomorrow morning as well as tomorrow is the party for Luna. A lot
of people will come and they will for sure visit us. We can pay you on the basis of today’s agreement as
well.” The girl offered with a big smile, thinking what a nice idea it was.
“Sure and what’s our deal today? I will work for two hours only as I stay with them, I will have to help
them with the preparation for the party as well.” Athena said and the girl nodded at her understandingly.
“That’s understandable. I am thinking of offering ten dollars per hour, is that okay with you?” She asked
and Athena nodded.
“That’s perfect. Thank you. I am Athena.” She said with a small smile and forwarded her hand for a
handshake. The girl happily took her hand happily and shook it a little.
“I am Amy. Glad to meet you. But we don‘t talk anymore. We need to get back to work. I will see you in
front of the kitchen in ten minutes. Okay?” Amy asked with a smile and Athena nodded at her.
After that she left and Athena let out a sigh of relief. She actually managed to get a job. Doesn’t matter if
Dominic’s name was involved which got her the job in the first place. She needed money and anything is
better than stealing or asking for it from Dominic.
“Look who I found and what I found her doing.”
Athena heard the familiar voice again. She turned her expression blank hearing that before turning
around to face him. Her plan actually worked and her good for nothing father was standing in front of her.
“I guess my plan worked, huh?” She asked with a smirk as she walked toward her father and stood in
front of him with crossed arms. But her father’s expression changed from smirk to anger very soon as he
glared at her.
“Stop showing me that attitude and tell me, why are you creating problems in our work? Don’t you know
that it’s against the rules?” He growled out in frustration but it didn‘t do much to her.
She was aware of the rules of course because she used to be a part of it as well. Her father had a quite
big gang of thieves and he was the leader of that gang. Those people would come down for hunting at
the same time together and they have this rule to not create problerns for other team members. If
necessary help them with the problem but not create any problem.
But that’s the exact opposite thing she was doing. She was creating problems for them by alerting
people. Because she knew that they would inform their leader about it. That’s what happened.
“Well, I am not part of the gang anymore so those crappy rules don’t apply to me.” She said with a smirk.
Her words seemed to irritate him more.
“What do you want? I know you did this to get me here. Now I am here. So tell me what you want. Do
you want to join the gang again? Trust me, we will give you a grand welcome. After all, this waitress and
side jobs are not for you. So, what do you think of my offer?” Her father asked with twinkling eyes.
intimidating tone as she looked at him with darkened eyes. “How dare you call me by my name?! I am
your father.” Robert glared at her while fuming in anger.
“Father! Sure!” Athena spat those words out of her mouth like it was something disgusting.” Quit the act.
It’s time you tell me the truth.” She snapped at him. He looked at her in confusion
“Wh…what do you mean?” He asked while looking away from her.
“I know that I am not your real daughter nor you are my real father. So, stop acting like you are. Because
let me tell you, you failed in acting as well.” Athena announced with gritted teeth while looking deep into
his eyes, threatening him to deny her. Her gaze was so powerful that h e couldn’t move his eyes away
from her in intimidation.
“H…how did you know? Wh…when did you know?” He stammered. There was no way to act as she
knew about it already.
“I knew about it a long time ago. Because I wasn’t blind to not notice the difference between u s. And it
didn’t take me long to figure out that we don’t share any blood relationship. So, now tell
me the truth.” She demanded, keeping the details aside about how she found out because that wasn’t
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmnecessary at all. She just knew that a dumb person like Robert can’t be her father and a little digging
brought everything out. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt her when she found out the truth. She found it
in the dumbest situation actually. Robert blurted it out one day when he was too
drunk in happiness because she had stolen a heavy purse that day.
How pathetic!
That day they both were drunk. He was happy and she was sad. That was the only difference But she
never mentioned that to him because she was enjoying her life just the way it was but i t all changed
when she found her mate. “Why?” Robert suddenly gained a little confidence and questioned him back.
“What do you mean?” Athena seemed confused after hearing that. “Why should I tell you
about the truth?” He asked with a smirk. Her frown deepened hearing that “Because that’s my truth and I
have the right to know.” Athena exclaimed in anger. “What’s my benefit there? You know your truth, it’s to
your benefit. What can I get out of it? I didn’t get anything all those years by raising you. But now I need
something in return.” Robert smirked, he knew that he got Athena at the right place.
A little more push and he will get what he wants and knows what he wants.
“What do you want?” Athena asked in a cold tone. She knew that was to come. Robert was a greedy
selfish man, who can do anything he wants in exchange for his benefit.
“I am sure you are aware of the big party tomorrow. The alpha of the Crescent Mystery pack is going to
welcome his Luna through the big ceremony.” Robert stated. Athena didn’t like where this was going.
“Yes, and?” She asked with a frown. “I need two invitation cards for that party. I will give you the truth you
want and you will give me the invitation cards. So, tell me. Do you agree with this deal?” Robert asked
with a raised eyebrow and a winning smirk Athena smirked
back “That‘s a deal.” She said, making him happy but before he could express his happiness properly,
she spoke up again. “But if you break the terms, you know me, Robert. Your heart will be in my hand in
no time. So you better be prepared if you do something you shouldn‘t do. “She warned. He just nodded
at her after that she turned around to leave with a smirk
‘Foolish, man!‘
(Don‘t complain, it‘s a big chapter! Did you guys like the chapter? Athena’s whole life was a lie! Her
identity was a lie! Then who is she? Also, do you think she made a mistake by agreeing to let Robert
enter the party? Will she regret it? And what will happen at the party? Write down your theory in the
comment section and leave me a review. Your review is like a recommendation to other readers to invite
