S31 91. Can We Be Friends?

Jeremy shrugged. He glanced briefly at Ava before returning to

watching the harmony of his brother’s family. “I don’t know. I didn’t count it.”

A second later, Jeremy said nothing more. The silence made Ava’s eyebrows furrow slightly.

“Why are you here?”

“Are you the only one allowed to stand here?”

Sighing, Ava looked away. Her eyes rolled faintly.

“Did you come to blame me? Do you want to sue me for the accident that happened to us earlier?”

Jeremy didn’t answer. He just pocketed his hands, standing more

relaxed.

“Why are you silent? Say what you want to say. Do you want to scold me? Do it! I’m ready.”

“Are you okay?”

Ava flinched. Her head tilted back, her blinking stopped.

Getting no response, Jeremy glanced over. His eyes were dim. “You told me to say what I wanted to

say. After I said it, you kept quiet?”

Ava exhaled quickly. Turning around, she muttered, “There’s no point in me keeping up with your jokes.

It’s not funny at all.”



Just as her feet were about to take a step, Jeremy caught her wrist. A strange vibration suddenly

spread from there, spreading quickly to all the cells in her body.

“I’m serious. I really want to know your condition. You were in my car when the accident happened. I

would feel very guilty if anything

Ava was pensive. She never knew that Jeremy could make such long

“Why are you being sarcastic?”

Ava took a deep breath. “I know I was the cause of the accident. If I hadn’t made such a noise asking

to get off, you definitely wouldn’t have sped off. You could have avoided the car, or at least been more

alert.”

The corner of Jeremy’s lips lifted slightly. He was glad Ava let down her defenses. “Is that an apology?”



Ava’s expression dimmed again. She snorted. “As I thought, your intentions in asking me were not

sincere.”

Ava jerked her hand away once more. However, when she was about to walk away, Jeremy said softly,

“It’s up to you to believe it or not, but I never pretend. If I really care about someone, then I will ask

about her condition. If not, I will just keep quiet.”

Those words were like hypnosis for Ava. Her body froze. Her feet were petrified. Her lips had difficulty

breaking apart.

“If I believe it, then what? Do you expect me to stop being cold to you?

“Hmm, I’m tired of being enemies with you. Can’t we just be friends?”

Ava peeked out of the corner of her eye. Jeremy turned out to be waiting for an answer with his

eyebrows raised faintly.

“You want to be friends with me? I heard that right? Haven’t your always considered me a sinner for

ever siding with Sophia?”

“When have I ever said that?” Jeremy’s eyebrows furrowed.

“You said so implicitly, and your actions say so too.”

Jeremy shook his head quickly. “I never accused you of being a

sinner.”

“Yes, you see me as that kind of person.”

“Aren’t you tired of repeating this debate?” Jeremy’s palms straightened as if splitting the air.



“You start first.”

Jeremy sighed in disbelief. “Okay, let me get this straight. I’m not someone who likes to judge other

people, Ava. I don’t even like to think too complicatedly.”

“Then what have you been doing to me all this time?”

“I’m just careful. I don’t get along with new people easily. Even with Barbara, we’re still distant.”

“You want to close the distance between us?” Ava raised an eyebrow, suspicious.

“Yes! That’s why I want to reconcile with you.”

“Why?”

Jeremy gasped. He blinked, considering the answer that had gathered at the corner of his lips.

“Because it turns out … you’re a good person. I feel safe being friends with you. I feel like you’re no

longer a threat to me and my family.”

Ava was touched by the answer. However, in order to maintain her prestige, she snorted. “You sound

doubtful.”

“If you refuse to make peace with me, I will doubt it. You are a good person, right?”

Ava looked away. She didn’t want to look at the man for too long.

“Okay. If you want to make peace, we’ll make peace. But don’t look for trouble with me.”

Jeremy frowned again. “When did I look for trouble with you?”



“Every time you argue with what I say or doubt my attitude.”

“Okay.” Jeremy raised both hands in surrender. “I won’t argue with

you anymore.”

Ava blinked rapidly. “Good.”

A second later, silence froze the air. The two people didn’t know what to say. They were confused

about how to act as a friend. Luckily, two sweet voices broke down the stiffness.

“Uncle Jeremy! Uncle Jeremy!”

Jeremy turned his head. The twins were running towards him with their arms outstretched. Without

thinking, Jeremy bent his knees,

welcoming them into a hug.

“We just had a great adventure! You know what? We defeated the enemy. We gave them the special

powder and perfume. Then while they were asleep, we hid in the Range Rover!”

“Then the enemy shot several times. Luckily, the car was strong and Louis was driving very well. I

great.” He stroked the twins’ heads.



The conversation was warm. Ava was secretly amazed at Jeremy’s

closeness to the twins. She didn’t expect to see Jeremy from a

different side.

“Then how is Auntie Ava?”

Ava gasped. She didn’t expect the conversation to turn in her

direction.

“I… wait! What did you call me?”

Emily blinked cutely. “Auntie.”

Ava blinked in surprise. “Why do you call me Auntie? Don’t you guys usually just call me Ava?”

“At that time, we didn’t know that you were dating Uncle Jeremy. Now that we know, we have to call

you Auntie. Isn’t that right, Louis?”

Louis nodded firmly. “Yes! Just like we call Philip Uncle. Although we sometimes forget, we should start
