S31 146. Cool Dresscode
“I really don’t understand. Why weren't we allowed to participate from the start? Why are we only being called
now? What kind of party will we attend?” Louis walked beside Emily with pursed lips.
Instead of pouting, Emily laughed. “Don’t be angry, Louis. We only missed 15 minutes.”
“A lot can happen in 15 minutes. We could have missed a lot.”
“Maybe it’s an adult event. We can’t participate because we're still kids.”
Louis snorted heavily. “At this rate, can’t wait to grow up. That way, no one will be able to stop us. We can take
part in all the events.”
“Don’t say that, Louis. Mommy said, we should enjoy life. Just focus on what's happening now. Enjoy our
childhood. Because when we're old, we might miss this time.”
Louis narrowed his eyes and glanced at his sister. “You know what? Sometimes | think you've grown up. The way
you talk is like an old
woman.”
“That's because I'm wise.” Emily pushed her hair behind her shoulder with one hand. Her other hand held a
small gift box.
“By the way, why did you bring that?”
“This?” Emily shook the ribboned box. “Mommy said that each of us had to bring a special gift for Auntie. Didn't
Daddy tell you to prepare a gift for Philip?”
Louis blinked. “Daddy or Philip didn’t askto bring anything. They said | just needed to cand have fun.”

“Could it be that men’s and women’s events are different?” Emily tilted her head.
“It could be. Our dress code is just different.” Louis pinched his unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt. Her pot belly peeking
out looked adorable. “Are you all wearing floral dresses?”
Emily nodded quickly. “Yes. Did you see Grandma Melanie and

Grandma Susan earlier? They were also wearing floral dresses. I'm curious what Grandma Diana will wear when
she arrives. Whether she complies with the dress code or not.”
“Whatever she wears later, I'm sure she will look beautiful. Oh, look! Auntie is ready to welcyou!”
Louis pointed towards the door. Barbara was standing there, waving, The white dress and flower crown made her
look sweet.
“Hello, Emily! Welcto my bridal shower.” Barbara placed a smaller flower crown on Emily’s head.
“Thank you, Auntie. This is very beautiful. Does everyone get a crown? “Emily asked while adjusting the position
so that it was more stable.
Barbara shook her head. “Just the two of us. The bride-to-be and the flower girl.”
The curve of Emily’s lips grew sweeter. “Does it mean I'm the second most beautiful woman today?”
Barbara laughed lightly at the compliment. “Yes, the bride-to-be and her flower girl should be the prettiest at
their event.”
“Anyway, Auntie, | brought this gift for you.” Emily handed her the
small box in her hand.
Barbara accepted it with her mouth agape. “You also prepared a gift for me? Thank you, Sweetie.”

“You're welcome, Auntie.”
Emily stood on tiptoe, wrapping her arms around Barbara's waist. After rubbing the little girl's back, Barbara's
attention turned to the boy who was busy observing the situation..
“And hello..., Louis. What are you doing here?” Barbara raised an eyebrow. “You know that only women can join
my event, right? The men’s event is in the east yard.”
Louis put on an innocent look. “I know that. But, as a real man, |
couldn't possibly let Emily calone. So, | took the tto escort her here.”
Barbara sighed in amusement. “We're at home, Louis. Is that
necessary? Just admit that you want to peek at my party.”
Louis stared wide-eyed while holding his breath. His cute expression made Emily giggle.
“I have warned him, Auntie, but Louis is still curious.”
“Actually, | just wanted to check whose party was more fun. Is there more food here?” Louis tilted his head again,
peering.
In the back yard, three long couches were arranged in a U shape, surrounding several tables. One table was
specifically for gifts. The other two were for food, dominated by cake and fruit.
The women were talking there. Their clothes provided a nice contrast with the pastel floral decorations.
“Wow! This event is really suitable for girls. Emily will be happy.”
“Yeah, | can’t wait to join the others. It’s going to be fun.” Emily jumped a little while holding her flower crown
with both hands.
“Then you can pass, Emily. And you, Louis, go to a party that suits your dress code. By the way, what are you
wearing?” Barbara's eyes

narrowed. Her heart tingled when she saw the cute belly that was sticking out.
Louis touched the brim of his bowler hat. “This? Can’t you judge it? This is outfit for a pool party.”
“Okay, pool party. There's no pool here, Louis. You're in the wrong place. Go to the east yard.”
Louis’ lips pursed. His eyes narrowed at the U couches. However, seeing Kara wave, his face brightened up
again.
“Oh, look! Mommy is calling me.”
As Barbara looked back, Louis barged in.
“Hey? Little intruder!”
While laughing, Louis quickened his pace. He arrived before Emily.

“What's wrong, Mommy?”
Kara suddenly forgot what she was going to talk about. “Little Bee, what are you wearing?”
“Philip's event is pool party, Mommy. Are my clothes inappropriate? Why does everyone always laugh when they
see me?”
“It’s because of your stomach, Louis. You'll catch a cold if you keep your buttons open like that,” Kara explained,
holding back her
amusement.
“I searched for it on the internet. Many models look like this when shooting in the pool, apart from those who
only wear pants.”
“Don’t you feel cold?” Susan asked as she was sitting next to Kara.
“| feel ticklish every tthe wind blows.”
Kara covered her chuckle with one hand. “If you feel uncomfortable, just link this button. You'll still be cool.”

“Is it true?” Louis looked down and fastened a button. “How is it, Mommy?”
Kara gave two thumbs up. “Cool!”
Louis smiled. “Thank you, Mommy. So, why did you call me?”
“Can you help Mrs. Connor?”
Louis widened his eyes and looked at the woman sitting next to Ava. ” How can | help her?”
“Mrs. Connor is feeling a bit tired. She wants to rest in her room. Can you call Bryan to pick her up in a
wheelchair? Mrs. Connor think she can’t walk all the way to her room.”
Louis looked at the woman with pity “Is Mrs Connor sick?”
“No, Louis. My mother is just tired. She hasn't stood up and walked in a while. Can you call Bryan? He's not
picking up the phone, neither is the other guy. It seems their rule is not to hold phones.”
“That's right. I'm not allowed to bring a watch. OK. I'll call Bryan right away. Please be patient, Mrs. Connor.”
Wasting no time, Louis ran alone to another yard.
