Chapter 77
“Thaddeus, when the hell are you going to stop treating me like this?” Evadne angrily said, “You’re
being so freaking annoying; it’s like you’ve got no manners at all, you get that? I didn’t dodge the
responsibility for you getting beaten up. I sent Jason to talk to you. Now what’s your problem?”
“You wanted to settle this privately, right? I’m giving you that chance.” Thaddeus tried to keep his
breath steady, his voice slightly shaky. “Come out to meet me, and we can put the whole thing behind
us. Call it quits.”
“You!” Evadne gasped in anger.
Was this really Thaddeus? So stubborn and headstrong, was he out of his mind?
“Fine, I’ll meet you. But stick to your word, let’s settle this privately!”
Having said that, she hung up the phone in rage.
Just as Evadne left, the butler called Suri over and said, “Suri, there have been two cars with the
license plate a7777 parked outside for quite a while now. There are also two men in suits standing
beside the cars, looking at our house constantly. Do they pose a threat? Should I activate the security
alarm?”
Suri frowned, thinking about her response: “Don’t do anything for now, and don’t tell the master either.
I’ll handle it.”
“Yes. Suri.” The butler nodded and left.
Suri quickly called Myra and Aviana for an emergency meeting in the hallway.
“We’ve got a situation here tonight.”
“A situation?” Myra blinked her clear eyes, looking somewhat puzzled.
“Spill it Suri. Don’t keep us hanging.” Aviana was impatient.
“That annoying dude Thaddeus is here, right outside our house, probably here to cause trouble for
Evadne.” Suri lowered her voice and her eyes were cold.
“What? That heartless bas t ard has the audacity to show up? I’m going to teach him a lesson!”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAviana rolled up her sleeves and was about to leave when Myra used all her strength to hold her back.”
Aviana, chill! We can’t alert Emeric and risk exposing the secret!
“I can’t just stand by while Thaddeus shows up at our doorstep!”
Aviana’s eyes reddened with anger. “Evadne has suffered so much because of him. Now he’s forcing
her into a divorce, stripping her of her dignity at such a young age! How can our family tolerate his
behavior? You guys might tolerate it, but I won’t!”
“We won’t either! But Evadne has repeatedly told us not to get involved. If you beat him up now, you
might feel better, but it’ll only cause more trouble for Evadne and make her more upset! What Evadne
wants is not this endless drama and she wants to cut all ties with the Abernathy family and have
nothing to do with Thaddeus anymore.” Suri held onto Aviana, urgently saying.
“I think Thaddeus might not be ready to give up on Evadne.” Myra slightly furrowed her brows, saying
worriedly, “I’ve heard about Thaddeus’ personality. He’s a cold and ruthless man who has never had a
girlfriend other than Ms. Acacia. He’s as stubborn as a rock.
It’s not like he has to drive all the way from Elmsworth to Skyrim to see Evadne. So I’m wondering
could he regret divorcing Evadne?”
“That Thaddeus! He’s nothing but a villain!”
Aviana clenched her fists and said, “He’s too cold-hearted to feel regret. Even if he did, it’s too late!
Seeing him makes my skin crawl!”
“I noticed Evadne sneaking off earlier so she must be meeting Thaddeus.”
Suri, the most thoughtful and deep of the three women, smiled and said, “You stay home and keep an
eye on Emeric and cover for Evadne. You wanted to vent your anger at Evadne, right? I’ll make sure
you’ll have an easy win tonight!”
It was the start of autumn, and the temperature had dropped recently, so the night wind in Skyrim was
rather chilly.
Gordon shivered in the cold, watching his boss stand in the cold wind like a statue, determined and
alone. He decided not to turn back until he saw Evadne, so Gordon had no choice but to stick with him.
Thaddeus had been waiting for a long time, but he could handle it. He used to stand at attention for a
whole day in the army, so a few hours were nothing.
It was just that his heart was hanging in the balance.
He was afraid that Evadne would change her mind at the last minute and refuse to see him. What
would he do then? Knock on the Ashbourne family’s door?
What reason would he have to knock on their door?
Thaddeus’ heart was racing, and he felt suffocated. He took out the last cigarette from his pack.
Just as he lit up the cigarette and was about to take a puff, the sound of a woman’s footsteps
approached him.
“Thaddeus.”
Thaddeus’ heart pounded as he looked at his expressionless, icy ex-wife. His hands shook, causing
ashes to fall from his cigarette.
Evadne glanced down at Thaddeus’ feet.
Seeing cigarette butts littered on the ground, she couldn’t help but frown. “Didn’t you quit smoking?
What’s going on?”
“Because I’ve been waiting for you for too long.”
Thaddeus quickly put out the cigarette, staring at her.
“Hmm, blaming me again? Go ahead, you’re always good at finding excuses.” Evadne gave a sarcastic
laugh.
“Ilana.” Thaddeus’ voice was h oa rse from smoking too much.
“I came to see you, so you got what you wanted. As you said, stop bothering Elvis.
I have things to do and I need to go back right away. Please pick up your cigarette butts when you
leave; don’t dirty this civilized city of Skyrim. Goodbye.” Evadne’s beautiful face was as cold as ice. She
mechanically finished her words, then turned around and left.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmGordon was shocked by the cold and powerful woman.

Man, the lady he remembered was such a gentle and beautiful woman. Every time she saw Mr.
Thaddeus, she would light up like a warm sun, always full of smiles and overflowing with warmth and
pa**ion.
But now, that glow that once belonged to Mr. Thaddeus seemed to have faded away.
What on earth did Mr. Thaddeus do wrong to turn such a great woman into such a cold-hearted
person?
“Ilana, hold up.”
Thaddeus was gasping for breath, urgently calling out to her. “I didn’t say you could leave. How can
you just walk away?”
“Hilarious. I’m not your possession. Why should I listen to you?”
Evadne narrowed her eyes, her voice icy cold. “You were so eager to get divorced back then, so
desperate to get rid of me. Now I’m leaving on my own terms, and what? What more do you want?
What’s it going to take to satisfy you?”
Divorce? What an ugly word!
Thaddeus suddenly stopped breathing, his heart trembling violently.
In an instant, the guilt of humiliation transformed into physical pain. He felt extremely agitated, his eyes
reddening. “I told you before we got married that it was a marriage of convenience and I couldn’t offer
you a future. I offered you compensation during the divorce, but you refused, choosing to leave with
nothing! Ilana, I’ve never disgraced you, nor have I ever been unfair to you. Don’t make me out to be
the villain, and don’t pretend you made such a huge sacrifice for me. We might not be able to part ways
peacefully. but you have no right to keep tram pling on my dignity! You sure as hell don’t owe me
anything, but I don’t owe you anything either! You have no right to treat me this way!”
