Chapter 863 ‘That's not it," Nathaniel shook his head and elaborated, "Don't forget that you were the one who wanted this project. My initial suggestion was genuine, as | wanted to ensure the project would succeed.
"However, you insisted on interfering even when you didn't know what you were doing. You were afraid | would take your credit, and since you were so inclined to be a fool, | figured | might as well give you a push!” Damian was speechless in the face of Nathaniel’s mockery. so he turned to face the other side. "What do you want fromnow that I'm here? It's not like you can ask for ransom." Who would still be willing to help Damian at a tlike this? Arianna could not wait for him to disappear, and as for Joseph, even if he were willing to pay the ransom, he would not be able to fork out the money.

Just a few days ago, he was so happy and sure of himself, as if the whole world was his. Yet, now...
"Of course, I'm not going to ask for random. Besides, you're not worth a penny now." Nathaniel smiled. His legs were getting numb as he squatted, so he stood up and stretched. "I'm here to save you." "Save me?" Damian blinked his eyes and looked at Nathaniel in disbelief. Even if Nathaniel was not the mastermind behind this plan, Damian was pretty sure he had conspired with Arianna to kidnap him. However, Nathaniel claimed he was trying to save Damian. How was that even possible? "You don't believe me, do you?” Nathaniel looked at Damian, then turned and walked toward the entrance. He opened the metal gate, allowing sunshine to enter the room. "If you don't believe me, you can try to walk out from here, and | won't stop you.
Though, | advise you to think wisely. If you leave, think of what awaits you outside.” Damian looked at the opened door and back at Nathaniel with suspicion. Nathaniel just stood next to the door without stopping Damian from leaving. Damian thought for a moment, placed his hand against the wall, and stood up. Then he limped toward the exit while bumping into the door. He took the opportunity to rest as he felt feeble, then glanced at Nathaniel again.
Nathaniel was still standing in the sposition as he waved one of his hands toward the door, signaling to Damian that he could leave. Damian gritted his teeth and decided not to care about Nathaniel's true intention and focus on leaving.
Damian was about to wobble out the door when Nathaniel said, Think carefully. Think of the situation that awaits you the moment you leave this place. What you'd have to face and what kind of future awaits you.” Damian stopped abruptly after hearing what Nathaniel said. He wanted to continue stepping forward. but his legs would not budge. Damian knew Nathaniel was right. There was not much difference between him staying here or leaving.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEven if he had managed to escape, he would still have to face the charges pressed against him. Arianna had made sure to leave him with no choice but to spend his tin prison. He would lose everything if he were in prison and had no hope.
‘No, | can't go to prison, | won't!" He thought as he stopped trying to leave and leaned against the door frame.
He did not want to look into the tiny, rundown house. so he just stood there, staring at Nathaniel.
"What do you want from me? What are you planning?” Damian glared daggers at Nathaniel. He knew if Nathaniel had wanted him dead, he would not be standing here talking.
Besides, Damian was too weak even to put up a fight. If Nathaniel decided to throw him at the side of the road, Damian would not be able to defend himself.
"| told you I'm here to help.” Nathaniel smiled. "I know what it’s like to be abandoned. chased down, and beaten up. You feel like a piece of trash, don't you?"
