Of course, they were in disguise!
Compass Carburettor was infamous as the latest Main Character, one that had wiped out the Luck Genre Systems on his own. So, even though he was considered dead, pretty much every System was aware of his appearance and even energy signature.
Therefore, they couldn't just saunter through with their original appearance. Hence, Stencil changed their appearance.
Originally, she planned to buy some Skills from the Astral Network to change them. But, Skills weren't absolute. Grade 2 Systems were still capable of seeing through their modified appearance.
And hence, Stencil used her own power, taking advantage of her Secret Refiner System, physically moulding their bodies. At least, the modifications of this were veiled by a mystical power to be more subtle.
Moreover, one of her fusion materials was the Coordinate that Compass Carburettor had created. Meaning, she was able to channel his power—after his permission—into this modification. And the Main Character's innate shielding ensured they wouldn't be found out as easily as before.
That led to their current appearance change. Moreover, it was in line with the Akuran Empire, the place their current selves originated from, or at least, they claimed of.
In truth, Stencil had focused on Horan while creating the portal from the System World. And once they appeared, they hid, waiting for the caravan to travel past before tailing it from far away.
There wasn't any deeper meaning behind this action. Stencil just found someone interesting to follow…
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Lies! You chose him because he was handsome." Compass Carburettor retorted.
"Ugh! Dad!" Stencil shouted in response, "You know that isn't the truth!"
"Of course, I believe you, my child." Compass Carburettor patted her, acting like he had the utmost confidence in her.
"Fine, I admit it was…partly because of his looks." Stencil turned her head away, embarrassed before flailing her hands upon seeing the smug attitude of her dad, "Ugh, I won't talk if you continue to be this way."
"Haha," Compass Carburettor acted like he didn't mind. But in truth, his mind was already focused on the Mental Energy stream originating from Horan, delving into the psyche and character of the other party.
And if he felt that Horan was unsuitable, if in the case Stencil ended up taking a liking to him, Compass Carburettor planned to silence him along the way.
Of course, Stencil was oblivious to his thoughts, controlling her embarrassment as she said, "It seemed like a lot of interesting things would happen around him. So, we might as well tag along to join in on the fun."
"That is fine, but you mustn't make a mistake." Compass Carburettor said in all seriousness, "I…am not the strongest of this world. There are dozens of existences in this world that can casually kill me. So, don't think that I can deal with anything that comes our way."
"But dad, we won't even be involved in any situations to come across such entities." Stencil retorted.
"Normally, this is true. But," Compass Carburettor made eye contact, "We aren't machines, you know. If you were to see a helpless victim suffering before you, can you say with honesty that you won't involve yourself in their affairs?"
"That is…impossible." Stencil sighed.
"Yep, there you have it." Compass Carburettor nodded, "And that's always the beginning to our involvement in the tangible affairs of any world."
"I'm not saying it's a bad thing though." He said in a hurry upon seeing her disappointment, "But, the moment it seems like things would become more than what we can handle, we're leaving this world. Don't have regrets at that time."
"Fine…I'll try." Stencil nodded.
"That's my princess. As intelligent as always!" He smiled, pinching her cheeks, watching her struggle to escape his grasp but failing to do so.
Honestly, the current Compass Carburettor, even though he lost most of his abilities that gave him a versatile nature, was stronger than his previous self. And this included his version at the end of the Cultivation World, one not under the influence of the Restriction Order.
He wasn't versatile anymore, but he was strong, damn strong in fact.
The entirety of his ability now depended on Anthozoa, but as he slowly understood its intricacies, he understood their functionality.
First of them was Anthozoa's original ability—refining bullets out of air.
It used the energy stored in its battery to suck in the air, separate carbon from everything else, and compress them into bullets. It took an hour to do that.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBut now, there was no need for such a long time. Compass Carburettor could casually condense a bullet in a fraction of a second. The process was the same, but the volume of function was vastly higher.
It was because he was fully able to control Anthozoa, not passively like before, but actively. That means, he can now accelerate the process.
This wouldn't have been possible if not for a function that he obtained recently. It was a fact that Anthozoa was able to charge through solar energy. And now, it became so that this charge could be converted into Mental Energy.
Basically, Anthozoa obtained the ability to convert Solar Energy into Mental Energy. It was because his body became Anthozoa while Anthozoa became him.
Before, the core of his being was Anthozoa but he still had the body of a human—which later became a Haggon and then a Spirit. That part of him had now changed.
Anthozoa itself had changed to become his body. So, if necessary, he could casually consume his Mental Energy to condense bullets nonstop.
This was why energy conversion became possible in the first place.
So, if he condenses Anthozoa in his hand, it wasn't his Personal Fragment but was just a copy of it that he created out of Mental Energy. He himself was the Personal Fragment after all.
The bullets shot could be normal bullets that were shot on Earth or filled with laws. But here was the second improvement.
Before, Anthozoa could only shoot bullets containing the Laws of Earth. Now, it can shoot bullets containing the laws of any world where his Core Skill of Lore had taken effect.
This meant that even if Earth were to be destroyed in the future, nothing would happen to him. He could simply switch over to the laws of another world.
And the stronger the world, the more potent these laws were against Systems.
