Muell was sort of confused. His round eyes moved left and right repeatedly. This side, blond hair; that side, blond hair. This side, green eyes; that side, green eyes. No wonder, their features were the same, and even the amount of magic flowing in their bodies and the cracks in the soul were the same.
Although young, they were sophisticated enough to be hard to distinguish even with the eyes of the mightiest dragon in the world. Actually, the dividing of Adrian’s soul and the replica transplantation were only possible thanks to Muell’s one magic fingernail.
With no signs of resting his eyes rolling back and forth, he agonized over which one to talk to. Then, he decided to just leave it to his gut. The one Muell chose to talk to was the Adrian on the left side. He started the interrogation in a determined manner.
“What happened to this person?”
He put strength in his eyes to stare at the human in front of him. All the while gripping a half-torn calendar in his hand. On the backside of the calendar, the blank part was filled with crooked lines. It was a painting with two dots inside of a circle and several curved lines hanging outside of it.
The man looked at it for a long time. The noble being, who had the sheer density of magic he had longed for so close to infinity, sometimes did some things very out of the blue. Even that seemed to resemble his owner. The power that he wanted to put in his hand, in the last place, was in someone’s hands. The man’s green eyes became dreary.
Muell, who didn’t know what he was thinking and wouldn’t even care if he knew, shook the calendar in his hand annoyingly.
“You aren’t going to answer?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe man asked, controlling the sudden surge of emotions, “What’s that, Mr. Muell?”
“You don’t know?”
With a serious look on his face, Muell started rubbing the picture again. Every time, his tiny finger was smeared with gold paint. He pointed at the blue dots inside the circle. Having done that, the man came to figure out roughly what the shape was.
“Oh, this female. The egg thief. What was her name again…”
“You’re talking about Lenia Valtalere?”
“Oh, yep!” Muell smiled brightly, shaking the wanted photo of the person who looked nothing like Lenia. “Noah said that she is hidden somewhere in the hotel, but I am not sure where.”
No wonder he couldn’t find her. Because Lenia had run away blanched in fear after seeing the dragon. The man closed his lips for a moment. It was only for mere seconds, but the cost was quite severe.
Muell had seen Kyle and his men interrogating criminals during a fifteen-day tour of the capital’s Protection Bureau. In fact, Kyle had had Muell present to teach them what would happen if they broke the law, but it was the interrogation method that Muell had been interested in.
If a criminal doesn’t simply confess, beat them until they do.
Muell flashed a grin across his face before hopping onto the knees of the Adrian on the left side. When the man, whose hands were handcuffed, fell back, he settled on his chest. Then, lifting his tiny hands, he started to slap his face.
“Where is Lenia?”
The man cracked a fake smile at his cute interrogation, but it disappeared from his face the next moment when he witnessed Muell’s actions. His small palm raised in the air, clenching into a fist, and a spell-powered whirlwind the size of his head started winding. The dark red eyes had already lost their mirth. Goosebumps spread all over the man’s body.
“There she is, Mr. Muell. The human you’re looking for.”
“Huh?”
Muell was about to hit him with the magic whirlwind, but the other Adrian had interrupted him. He then heard the sounds of someone hiding at the end of the hallway.
“Found you!”
The young dragon leaped off the man he was standing on and dashed down the hallway. The moment he turned the corner, he heard the sounds of footsteps descending the stairs. Jumping onto the handrail, he extended his hand out in front of him to shoot out a string of magic. The long stream twisted in the air before catching someone.
“Argh!”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe invisibility spell Noah had cast on her disappeared immediately, and Lenia, whose upper body was tied tightly, rose into the air. Muell laughed, hanging from the handrail.
“Gotcha.”
“I’m s-s-s-sorry,” Lenia stuttered in fear.
“No. It’s okay.”
With Lenia floating in the air, Muell searched the subspace and took out what he needed: a dry piece of paper, a pen, and a small recorder Kyle mainly used. Mister told me to ask her something…
What Kyle had asked Muell to do was to distinguish the authenticity of Adrian’s replica and to secure Lenia Valtalere’s previous alibi.
Lenia was on the verge of collapsing into unconsciousness, but Muell was not delicate and considerate enough. Without delay, he asked, “Number 1! What’s your relationship with Eleonora Asil?”
“Sh-sh-sh… she was one of my clients! Asil Industrial Zone!”
Muell didn’t really know what a ‘client’ was, but soon enough he grabbed the pen and scribbled it down. The tape inside the recorder nearby was rolling, recording all of the information of the interrogation and sending it to the other party.
