"Do you want some?" Cain offered the other half of the sandwich that was lying untouched on the plate.
"No, thanks… I'll just get a drink and head back to my room after." She couldn't bring herself to look him in the eyes. She was too shy to do that. She was not her usual self, never had been after what happened earlier.
Kimmy walked inside, taking out the cold milk from the refrigerator before pouring it into the mug. After doing so, she placed her mug in the microwave to heat it a bit. She had always preferred warm milk.
On the other hand, Cain couldn't help but eye Kimmy from behind. His heart was racing just because of her presence in the room and he couldn't do something about it.
While waiting for the minute timer of the microwave, Kimmy's mind began running back to what happened again. He was such a skilled kisser… had he kissed someone before? Maybe in his previous relationships?
Just the thought of Cain kissing some other girls made her chest tighten. She hated the idea of him, kissing another girl.
What was this feeling? Why was she getting worked up to something that she shouldn't even be bothered about? Why was she caring about his past relationships? It was not like she was currently his girlfriend or anything.

Thanks to what he said, he was somehow able to dissipate the tension between them.
"Does my mother know about his real identity?" Kimmy asked out of curiosity as she took out the mug from the microwave.
"No, she doesn't. Only the King, Will, and I know about that information. Gavin will be revealing this to everyone in the conference," Cain stated. "Everyone will be there tomorrow."
Kimmy lowered her gaze, landing it on the mug she was holding. If he meant everyone, then her mother should be there too. "I think I should inform my mother about this tomorrow… before the conference."
"That's alright. You can do that too. At least she won't be surprised as much as the others once this information is out." He took the last half of the sandwich and began eating it.
"Do you think Gavin will become a good King like uncle?" She asked as she finally looked at him. "I mean, Cedric should be the one… especially when we all know that he's capable of ruling."
Gulping down the food he chewed, he replied, "but he is nowhere to be found. Besides, as far as I know, Gavin is pretty capable too. He knows what to do and I'm sure that he will be a good King. I'm sure he'll handle everything pretty well."
He was right. Gavin has acted as Cedric and deep inside, she knew that Gavin was competent for the throne. "But not everyone will think like that. I'm sure that it will be hard for others to accept Gavin as the new King. Unlike Cedric, he didn't grow up here. Others may think that he won't be able to manage the country as well as his father."
"I know." Cain sighed. He already was expecting that some may question Gavin's capabilities. Even if he has the royal blood, that doesn't mean that he would be proficient to the throne. Some of the people would surely have this kind of mindset.
"But all we can do right now is trust Gavin. We should be the ones standing by his side as his friends." This was one thing Cain was sure of. His loyalty belonged to the King and his family, that included Gavin.
"If uncle trusts him then I will too," Kimmy mumbled to herself before she took a sip from her drink. The warmth of the milk really did help her body relax. It really was her comfort drink on sleepless nights like this.
Silence enveloped them once again. Although this time, there was not much awkwardness in it especially when they were both thinking of what was going to happen at the conference tomorrow. How would the people react?
Despite knowing this, Kimmy admired Gavin for not running away from his duties. He was brave… just like Cedric.
Kimmy was the first to snap out of it as she finally thought that she should stop running away as well. It was about time that she should face her problems. She should face her mother and tell her about her honest feelings.
As for Cain… she didn't want to confess yet. Her feelings were just starting. It could disappear one day once she would leave the place after her 3 months of work under Cain. In fact, it has been less than 3 months now.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKimmy had finished the milk when she snapped out from her deep thoughts. She placed the mug in the sink before she drew her gaze towards him before she called him. "Cain."
Cain was wiping the side of his lips with a napkin so when he called, he lowered it and turned to her. "Hm?"
Kimmy opened her mouth. She wanted to ask him about what happened earlier but… in the end, she backed out. She felt her face burn as blood rushed through the arteries in her chest.
What should she tell him? Why did he kiss her? Did he like her? No way was she going to ask him those questions since she felt like she was confessing instead!
She had already made up her mind that she was not going to tell him about her feelings for him. She was sure that it would fade once she would get out of his place!
"What is it?" Cain asked, urging her to speak out.
She shook her head from side to side rather vigorously. "N-nothing," she quickly replied.
She needed time before she could ask him about such a question so instead of speaking out, she flashed him a small smile. "Good night."
And with that, Kimmy hurriedly rushed out of the kitchen before Cain could even say a word.
