Last Egg: Reincarnated as a Dragon in a Game-Novel
Chapter 385 Me And A Cosmic Terror?!POV ???:
The alien monstrosity was sprawled on the blazing hot sand, with dense smoke rising from its body to the clouds. It was so huge it looked like a giant, black mountain obscured with mist in the middle of a desert. Branching lines glowed within the smoke in bright golden light
Its long horns of an unknown crystal material gleamed and glowed like rods of pure energy within the haze.
'The cosmic beast...' only a single tern was on everyone's mind. Even their current problems were pushed back by the terrifying beast.
Five bipedal humanoids decked in shiny, black suits of armor with flashing lights all over them marched through the desert. The sun reflected in the metal of their armor, but they felt no heat or cold, their suits perfectly isolating them.
Their faces were fully hidden beneath their helmets' dark glass visors, only the blue glow of their eyes passing through.
"It came from the wormhole. Be careful and don't make any sudden movements that could wake it up." The radio in their helmets transferred an old-sounding voice.
Their dampened breathing and the mechanical sounds of the joints of the exoskeleton resonated as the only sounds through the empty and deserted wasteland.
"Profesor, should we really approach it? Is it safe?" The bulkiest and largest soldier in front stopped, and the transfer antenna on his helmet flashed.
At once, their entire formations stopped moving, nervosity visible in their tight grips around their guns.
The only one in the silver-colored armor didn't answer.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt'Phh, how could it be safe to approach something so large and of unknown origin? Is it an herbivore or a predator?'
He suppressed all his fear as he stepped forward, his breathing and heartbeat getting faster and faster.
"We must recover the wormhole generator. Don't forget it is our only hope to get out of here."
At once they moved forward in absolute silence, scared that the monster would wake up.
'I can't, the fate of my people depends on me. We lost our world to these monsters we can't outrun. We can only pray for it to be salvageable, otherwise, we will have no time to construct another one before they catch upon us.'
The sand below their feet gradually turned hotter and hotter, with molten glass pooling around the cosmic terror.
'To think that such a beast can exist. Just that size...' He thought he saw everything and understood the science, yet now he saw an organism so impossible it made him shudder in both excitement and fear.
Suddenly something changed, making the entire group freeze on the spot.
His body refused to move, his muscles contorting against his will.
The panicked voice in the intercom brought him back to reality, "Profesor, look at the sensors' readings. The energy signatures keep rising! The heat and the radiation. It is as if we approached an open reactor."
The monster stirred, and two golden lights lit up in the smoke screen. The ground trembled and vibrated while the air swirled with each move of the giant.
Its long armored neck and head raised high above the desert, and everything darkened beneath its shadow and the clouds of smoke.
The professor couldn't even react before the soldiers pushed him back, raised their glowing weapons, and pointed them at the rising mountain of metal and flesh.
They looked like small bugs facing a foot ready to stomp them.
"Stop it, you fools! Just look at its size. Your rifles can't even scratch it." The professor hurriedly pushed back his annoying guards and waved his arms in panic, fearing the beast's reaction to the sudden movement.
'Damn brutes, they should stop thinking with their guns!'
A terrifying presence enveloped him as if he was submerged in a vat of lava. His vision darkened, and his body lost all its strength.
'What is this feeling? It is as if my entire body reacted on instinct.' sweat has gathered on the back of the professor's neck as he faced the terrifying cosmic predator.
"!?! #!ô" A voice shook with the entire desert and raised a massive vortex of spinning sand.
The sounds were incoherent, yet simultaneously they carried intelligence and elegance synonymous with a civilized language.
"That thing! It can speak!"
POV Vesuvius:
The dragon opened his eyes. Each and every cell of his body changed and transformed. His blood blazed with power, and his muscles contained the force to split mountains apart.
'I wish I had the system now. It would surely give me exact numbers.'
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHis domain, aura, and divine kingdom changed their sensitivity and might grow out of proportion. He felt every single grain of the sand. If before they were just like an extension of his own body or a limb, now they were like cells of his body, naturally operating in sync with the rest.
He could feel even more changes but had no time to think about them as he caught something moving close to him.
'Huh?' He turned his head, and his eyes fell upon a small group of humanoids. The length of their legs and arms was out of proportion with the size of their torso, telling him they weren't humans.
His perspective changed, making him realize he grew taller than before.
'Are these aliens? No, it is more likely that I am that alien in this situation.'
He raised his head from the ground like a crane, and his aura expanded out, forcing the mortals to kneel on their knees.
'Aliens or not, they are still only mortals.' He felt light laughing as they raised their punny, little weapons. He didn't even feel any threat or even anger at their punny attempt.
'Soldiers... they should stop always thinking with their guns.'
He towered above them like a mountain, "Speak mortals! What is your business with me?"
There was no response, making him immediately realize where the problem was, 'Of course, there is a language barrier.'
With a casual glance at their suits and weapons, he was sure the aliens were highly technologically advanced, and he would be a fool not to take advantage of them. He was ready to fully turn them into a profit.
'Hmmm, when I am already here, I should pick some of them up. I wonder if they could somehow contribute to my kingdom. Even if the magic is powerful it still lacks in availability and mass production capabilities when compared to technology.'
Vesuvius opened his mouth with a terrifying grin as he looked at the aliens. He could already see the new paths it would open.
'Robbing advanced technology from dungeons is always useless without the know-how for widespread application, especially if is it something too different and advanced. However, here is the know-how on the reach of my claw.'
