She bit her lip, her eyes bright with unshed tears, and my throat felt tight, like | might lose it if | said another

reassuring squeeze, like she was grounding me, steadying me, just as she always had.
Then it was her turn, and as she looked up at me, her gaze steady, her voice clear and strong.
"Luke." she began, her voice barely a whisper but full of conviction, "you've been my constant, my protector,

The officiant smiled, looking between us. "Luke, Jessica, by the power vested in me, | now pronounce you

And | did, without a moment's hesitation, pulling her close, my hands framing her face as | pressed my lips to

Hand in hand, we turned to face our family and friends, a sea of familiar faces that had seen us through

| woke up to the faint smell of coffee drifting into the room, gently coaxingfrom sleep. Buried beneath a
ridiculous pile of pillows-Luke's doing, no doubt-I stretched and yawned, taking a moment to let reality settle in
around me.
For a second, | almost thought | was dreaming. But then | remembered: This is my life now. Two months into
marriage, waking up in our bed next to him still felt like skind of dream | hadn't fully wrapped my head
around.
| tossed back the covers and got up, padding out of the bedroom. The cool floor wokeup a little more with
each step. As | neared the kitchen, the smell of freshly brewed coffee got stronger, makingsmile, and there
he was.
Luke was leaning against the counter, shirtless. His broad shoulders and toned muscles were on full display,
looking like he belonged on smagazine cover. A pair of low-
slung gray sweatpants hugged his hips, and his dark hair was mussled just the slightest bit. | bit my lip when my
eyes drifted towards the tented portion of his grey pants, and my body shivered, knowing what was beneath that
thin material. He glanced up as | entered, that familiar lazy grin spreading across his face.
"Morning, Mrs. Reynolds," he said, his voice still a little rough from sleep as he slid a mug of coffee across the
counter toward me.

His smirk widened as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Thought you already had," he said, watchingwith
a look that madefeel completely seen.
"Oh, | have," | replied, grinning. "Don't expectto lift a finger now. You've officially spoiled me."
