Chapter 926: Why Won't This General Leave Their Home? Jennie almost burst out laughing. Covering her mouth, she signaled to Hugo with a glance, urging him to speak truthfully about everything, while she headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. She decided to share this rare spectacle with Tina. At that moment, Tina was on her way back from another location. This time, she had discovered another female corpse-once again, the heart had been removed. All the victims were young women. When she received Jennie's message, the corner of her mouth twitched. She turned to Hayden in the driver's seat and said, "Forget heading to the Pace family. Take us to the Reed family instead." Hayden immediately turned the car around, his compliance almost cheerful. "Got it! Perfect timing-I've been craving Jennie's cooking. That last body we moved was ridiculously heavy..." Qin Feng, sitting in the backseat, remained silent.
Something about these two seemed... suspicious.
Jared, seated beside Tina, wrapped an arm around her waist and asked softly, "What's going on?" Tina found herself at a loss for words to describe the bizarre scene she had just witnessed. So, she simply handed her phone to Jared.
After scanning the screen, Jared's brow furrowed, and he blurted out, "What a sight to behold." Then, with a faint smirk, he added, "Looks like your father's getting desperate." Tina knew exactly why Ruud had gone to the Reed family, and it left her exasperated. "I just hope he doesn't scare Hugo and Jennie. Especially Hugo-he's easily spooked." An hour later.
Hugo sat across from Ruud, staring at the man's notebook, which was filled with densely packed notes. Ruud hadn't even spared the offhand remarks Hugo had made to Tina in the past. At this point, Hugo couldn't help but believe the man's intentions were genuine.
This guy was really here to learn! But General Praevion's enthusiasm was overwhelming, leaving Hugo utterly exhausted.
Now, he felt nothing but the urge to call for help.

Just as Hugo reached for his phone to text Tina, Ruud's low voice interrupted him again.
"Mr. Reed, earlier you mentioned that Tina doesn't like being hugged. Could you clarify-what kind of hug are we talking about?" Hugo was speechless.
When Jennie walked in from the kitchen, she saw Hugo throwing her a desperate look, practically begging for rescue.
She chose to ignore him.
After all, Ruud had call this way to ask for advice, and his dedication to Tina couldn't be dismissed. Sending him away empty-handed didn't feel right. "Mr. Pace," she said with a smile, "why don't we eat first? You can take notes afterward." "No, no," Ruud declined, starting to rise from his seat. "Alina is waiting forat home. I should-" But as he got up, he froze in place.
Ruud took a deep breath, his eyes lighting up as he glanced toward the kitchen. "What smells so good? May I ask what dish this is?" Jennie paused, then quickly understood Hugo's helplessness. Smiling, she replied, "It's nothing special, just noodles with sside dishes. Tina loves this." Her last sentence successfully anchored Ruud to the spot.
He hadn't forgotten Tina's reaction earlier that morning when she had reluctantly eaten the sugary syrup and grainy soy milk he made.
If he could learn how to cook Tina's favorite meals, wouldn't she chase after him, begging him to cook for her every day? And if that happened, wouldn't he have complete control over his precious daughter's stomach? Ruud's initial plan to leave vanished. He took two steps toward the dining table, his expression feigning casual curiosity. "Is this really Tina's favorite?" Jennie, thinking he doubted her, nodded earnestly. "Mr. Pace, Tina truly loves noodles. If you don't believe me, you can give it a try..." "Great!" Ruud replied enthusiastically.
Hugo was once again speechless.
By the tTina entered the foyer, she could hear Ruud at the dining table, earnestly questioning Jennie about how to knead the dough to achieve the perfect texture, when to add water, and the precise timing for draining the noodles. The level of detail in his questions and the seriousness of his tone made it sound like they were strategizing for a critical military operation.
For once, Tina was utterly speechless.
Seated nearby, Ruud looked every bit the picture of a devoted homemaker. Even Hugo, who sat opposite him, exuded more of a professional aura in comparison. Yet somehow, sharing the stable, Hugo seemed visibly uncomfortable, barely able to eat.
Hayden, who had followed closely behind Tina, saw the two of them lingering at the foyer and assumed they had changed their minds. "Serena, Mr. Farrell, what's the holdup? It's dinner time!" Taking advantage of his height, Jared turned to gaze at him with a meaningful look. "Are you sure you want to go in?" "Of course! I can already smell the food-" Jared stepped aside, gesturing toward the dining room with a polite "Be my guest." Hayden narrowed his eyes, hesitated, and instinctively took a step back. "There's nothing... inappropriate going on in there, is there?" It wasn't paranoia-he had been burned by these two before. "Serena, I just remembered I have to-ah!" Before he could finish, Jared grabbed him by the collar and shoved him forward.
"I didn't see anything!" Hayden shouted, covering his eyes tically.
A familiar voice responded.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Tina!" Peeking through his fingers, Hayden froze in place. "General... General Praevion? What are you doing here..." Ruud ignored him entirely and swept toward Tina like a gust of wind, his expression lighting up with joy. "My darling daughter, you came! Did you missat hand chere to takeback?" Tina sighed. "If I didn't come, were you planning to move in here?" Ruud's face turned serious. "Of course not. Do you think I'd dare stay out overnight? Your mother would trackdown with a knife in twenty minutes flat. You know how strong she is-I wouldn't stand a chance." Tina pressed her temples, unwilling to say more.
She stepped further inside, where Hugo and Jennie had already approached, clearly intending to invite her to stay for dinner.
But Tina knew she had to take Ruud back. Her dear mother was already searching for him, and if she didn't N bring him hsoon, the entire Pace household would descend into chaos. "Hugo, Jennie, it's late. I'll visit again another time." "Don't worry," she added, "I've already spoken to the security guards. From now on, no unrelated individuals will be allowed in." Hugo and Jennie exchanged glances-neither dared say a word.
This was General Praevion, after all! Even national leaders couldn't see him without an appointment.
Ruud, standing to the side, rubbed his nose awkwardly. Surely, his daughter wasn't referring to him as an "unrelated individual? Hugo might be her adoptive father, but he was her biological one! How could he be considered irrelevant? At the dining table, Zackary waved at Tina with a sweet smile. She returned the gesture before turning to Ruud with an indifferent expression. "Let's go. Home." Ruud immediately followed. "Alright, darling. Whatever you say. Let's go htogether." Jared, who had been standing silently, looked on, expressionless.
Ruud smirked slightly. "A man who steals my darling daughter doesn't deserve a name." Tina sighed.
Just before she left, Jennie hurried out of the kitchen with a thermal container. "The food is still warm. Take it with you." Tina didn't refuse. Jennie must have anticipated her visit and prepared it especially for her.
"I'll carry it!" Ruud said, beaming as he grabbed the container ntainer ble glanded back at Jared with a pointed look that couldn't have been clearer: Dream on if you think you're having a late-night meal with my daughter. As long as I'm around, no one's taking her from me.
