Noah had noticed the man becoming a little uncomfortable when asked about his church. This whole conversation seemed a little strange by Noah's reasoning, so he was constantly using his knowledge of body language to determine whether what the man was saying was true or not, and fortunately for him, everything the man said was true up until now.
"I can't tell you much, but one thing I think would be okay to tell you is that Lucifer was very close to Apollo, and Greek gods also have churches today," the man answered vaguely.
Unfortunately, everything the man said was true, but Noah couldn't say whether that meant the 26-year-old was part of the Apollo church or if he just said that to try to get Noah to follow false leads, but from what Noah could tell the man's body language, this didn't seem like one of the cases where the suspect tried to deviate from the subject so as not to say something he shouldn't, but it was like he was trying to get around the subject of saying something he shouldn't in a way that did not cause repercussions, which Noah could understand perfectly if he put himself in the man's shoes.
But just that little bit of information already gave Noah enough clues for him to be able to go home and investigate, to determine if it was the truth or a lie. After all, he still hadn't accepted the invitation, so he wouldn't have a problem if he just decided not to go when the man told him where the priest wanted to meet. "Okay then, my phone number is listed on my screen here. Contact me and we will be able to talk easier in a better place than an unknown room in an unpleasant factory," Noah said dryly before turning and walking towards the shower to get rid of the sweat from the battles.
The man, while watching Noah leave, before Noah left gave a shout, "My name is Leon!"
Noah just waved his hand over his shoulder without turning around as he answered, "My name is Noah."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe knew the man might easily have gotten his name by asking anyone who was watching the battles, if he hadn't already memorized his name after hearing the referee announcing each match. So Noah just responded out of courtesy.
Noah just took a quick shower to get the rest of the sweat and dirt off his body and put back on the clothes he wore when coming to this place. He still had business to attend to with Robert, which he certainly hadn't forgotten, and in remembering how they came to this place, Noah had in mind a great way to be compensated.
"Hahaha, unfortunately your powerful fighter didn't stand up to my Rank C, Rob. Too bad. It looks like I will be the only one to receive the reward for bringing a champion," the young man who brought Leon said proudly while puffing out his chest and pointing to himself to demonstrate who would receive the reward that the organizers of that tournament gave to the member who brought the winner.
If it were any other day, Robert would have definitely complained and started to make a lot of noise, trying to humiliate this boy who had beaten his fighter, to try to regain some honor, but at the moment, that was Robert's last concern.
Unfortunately for him, Noah survived the fight, and from what he saw, Noah was perfectly fine, since after burning himself with that strange flame of his, he was as good as new.
'Damn it! It's not enough that his flames were so broken that he can cause such colossal pain to his opponents, and now you're telling me that he can heal himself with those flames? What will happen next? Are you going to tell me that he will be able to summon fire creatures and use them for combat while he just watches from a distance without taking any risks while these creatures do all the work? Spare me. It doesn't make sense for a boy, just 20 years old in the city Eyrin, to be so strong already. People his age who are so strong would have moved to another city a long time ago since he could earn more money there. He'd be able to get more important positions in business, better positions in government, better rewards in Fortresses, and better connections than in a city where the peak of power is just someone who's Rank C.' Robert thought indignantly about the bad luck he had to find Noah.
But little did Robert know that at that moment he would have practically prophesied one of the skills that Noah would receive in the future, but not that it mattered now, as he was working at high speed thinking about what he could do so that Noah would not kill him.
While Robert was trying to avoid his apparent doom, his friends talked and joked about what they should do now since the fights were over and in a few minutes the people from the event's organization would start politely expelling them. Ideas started to emerge from the group about their next entertainment for the evening.
At first they thought about going to some kind of club, but because some of them would have to go back to their parents' homes, it would be a little problematic to hide the smell of sex and alcohol that infested those places.
Secondly, they thought of simply going to a restaurant and having a decent meal, maybe calling some of the girls they had contact with and possibly having fun in more private places alone with the girls, while the boys who had to go back to their parents could be more careful not to leave too many traces for parents to find out what they were doing during their night out.
As everyone there had very luxurious, powerful, and fast cars, it was a fact that they would get out of there and have between them an illegal street race, since they always did that. Even if it was during the day, they didn't care at all that the police were going to do something, since first they would have to be caught, and if the police for some reason managed to arrest any of them, it would be as simple as making a call to free them from the trouble of being jailed for doing illegal street racing.
Listening to them arguing about who would win the race, Robert forgot a little bit about Noah as he proudly said he would beat them all with the new car he had bought. With the salary of a Blessed Rank D, it was difficult to buy a car as expensive as Robert's, so he was very confident that he could beat everyone there because of the power of his car. There were few cars that could reach 250 mph (~400 km / h) while still allowing the driver to have full control of the vehicle. Almost all other cars that managed to reach this maximum speed only allowed this to be done when an artificial intelligence had control of the car, that is, if the driver wanted to make a turn at speeds that artificial intelligence considered it would be impossible to achieve, the AI would not allow it to be done.
And of course, like everything else in this life, artificial intelligence was not perfect, and sometimes it made calculations wrong and caused the driver to slow down, which was very frustrating. So Aston Martin developed a car that was so safe that any idiot could drive it, even without the virtual assistance of artificial intelligence, a demographic which included Robert.
This was the reason for his belief that he would beat all his friends in the races they were going to have, and that confidence was the reason for him to say with such pride how much he would humiliate each one there when they went out together.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBut there, a few feet away from the group, was Noah, practically laughing silently after he saw that Robert was bragging about how nice his car was, and every argument he used to brag about it with his friends made Noah feel even more willing to demand that car as collateral for his suffering. After all, who wouldn't want a car as incredible as it was, and if Robert was willingly to give such a good for it, why should Noah refuse such a generous offer as that?
So, with a mysterious smile on his face, Noah, who had not yet fully recovered from the large expenditure of energy or mana that he had used, was using all of his body language knowledge to exude as much confidence as possible, to try to put in the minds of everyone who looked at him that he was not at all afraid if someone would try to attack him at that time, and that that person would have to prepare for big and serious problems if he tried something like this.
And as soon as Robert saw Noah coming towards him, he instinctively swallowed at the sight of Noah walking towards him with such confidence that it made Robert even more worried than he already was. He stopped talking to his friends, and with an expression similar to a child that had made a mistake, he started looking at Noah, trying to get at least a little pity, hoping that Noah didn't want something too excessive, and he wouldn't feel like using those terrifying flames to burn him.
Robert, like most spoiled people, was a little afraid of pain even though he was a high-ranking Blessed person who would normally invade Fortresses. Yet, feeling pain was not his strong point.
But while he was terrified of being tortured and killed by Noah for revenge, Noah didn't even have the strength to teleport there three times, let alone summon even a single fire dagger.
