"But some might have dangerous objects" the rider explained.
"Throw dangerous objects, like stones and stuff?" Lynx asked.
"Yes, they are pretty powerful and have great accuracy so it's guaranteed to hit except you have fast reflexes to dodge or you have a shield"
"Then they probably won't attack travelers right?" Rebecca asked.
"Yes, I thought you guys were warriors, and given your age you should have known about beasts and animals, what were you doing with all your time?" the rider asked.
"Training I guess" Alex muttered and the rider nodded his head.
...
*Yawn*
"Traveling is stressful" Gabriel yawned and stretch his hands before carefully placing them back on Rebecca's head, Rebecca was already asleep with her head on Gabriel's legs.
They have been traveling without stopping for hours, they only stopped for a while to rest and the rider wanted to feed the horses in case they were hungry or thirsty.
"You are traveling on a carriage, what if we wanted to walk with our feet, we would have spent more than a week cause we'll have to rest every hour" Max mumbled.
"But that way we'll be able to kill beasts and gain XP to level up," Lynx said.
"We would be done at the end of the first day, and besides we are used to comfortable traveling that's why this is hard" Melissa spoke.
"Comfortable traveling, is there a way of traveling more comfortably than a carriage apart from teleportation?" the rider asked.
"No they aren't, we just aren't used to long-distance traveling that's all, we are fine" Alex replied.
"Don't worry, few more hours and we'll be in a village, we can rest better there before we rest Zenith City, they have good food there in case you guys are interested" the rider said.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Okay, a few more hours and we'll..."
Before Alex could speak one of the carriage wheels hit a bump and fell off, the carriage immediately crashed on the path but they all held the carriage tightly so none of them were injured.
Rebecca who was asleep woke up after her head hit the hardwood of the carriage as Gabriel struggled to hold both of them, the horses halted immediately and the carriage came to a stop.
"Are you okay Rebecca?" Gabriel asked.
"I'm fine, are we under attack?" Rebecca asked almost immediately.
"It seems so"
The six of them jumped down from the carriage and looked around, their weapons were already in their hands and they were ready to attack except for Rebecca.
"Last time they had a marksman so be careful' Lynx told them as he also looked around.
The rider looked at them and was surprised with what they were doing, instead of checking what the problem was they immediately thought it was bandits.
"What are you guys doing, are you planning to kill the stone who did it to the carriage, we should check the problem first instead of bringing out weapons"
"It seems it was a false call, I really thought we were being attacked by bandits, I would have loved to slaughter a few of them" Alex said as he stood up straight.
"Slaughter a few, what are you, a butcher?" Lynx chuckled as he spoke.
"You told me not to get happy when killing bandits and here you are saying you'll slaughter a few" Melissa snorted.
"Shit, uhmm guys, we have a serious problem," the rider said.
"Problem...how serious?" Alex asked.
"We won't be able to arrive today, even if I fix the wheel back, it's broken so we'll have to move slowly so it won't fall off again," the rider said.
"So we have no choice, or is there something we can do?" Max asked.
"We can, but we'll have to stay here for some minutes or even an hour, I'm really sorry this happened I was moving too fast" the rider apologized.
"No problem, so can we help?" Gabriel asked.
"It's nothing, I just need a strong branch so I can make a wooden hook to hold the wheel in place, that'll get us to Zenith City before I get it repaired"
"Okay, the sun is still up so there's no problem if we wait a little" Alex mumbled.
"Can I sleep as we wait, I'm really sleepy" Rebecca said to Gabriel.
"Sure," Gabriel said as he sat on the ground next to a tree and Rebecca lay on his lap.
The rider walked into the forest with Alex behind him, and even he was not aware Alex was behind him as he looked for a sturdy wood.
The rest of them sat on the carriage and Max brought out some of the food he kept in his inventory and began munching on them.
"Good, this one would do" the rider spoke as he picked up a wood and turned around.
"Haaa...oh my!! it's you...don't scare me like that, wait...since when have you been following me?"
"Since you stepped into the forest, it's not safe for a single person to be alone in a forest like this" Alex replied.
'He has been following me since I walked into the forest and I didn't notice till I actually saw him, that's impossible'
"I-I've gotten the wood I need, we should head back and I'll get started, I really don't want to be in this forest at night," the rider said as both of them headed back.
"Did you find the wood?" Melissa asked as she saw them.
"Yes, I'll get to work now, don't worry about it anymore, I'll be done before you realize it," the man said as he went to the front of his carriage and brought out tools.
[Inventory]
Alex opened his inventory and brought out his blood dagger, he hasn't tried his weapon skill yet but he wanted to try something else.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHis blood dagger skill was ownership which allows him to summon his dagger from anywhere, but Alex wasn't good at using his daggers as throwing weapons so he wanted to learn.
Alex held his dagger and stood in front of a tree a little far away from the rest of his friends so he wouldn't cause an injury, then he took two large steps back but he was still close.
"I should start small," Alex said as he held his dagger and threw it with all the strength he could muster.
His dagger hit the tree at the spot he was aiming at and a smile formed on his face, even though he was close to the tree he was able to hit the spot he was actually aiming at.
"It seems this isn't so hard after all" Alex mumbled as he stretched his hands and his dagger returned to his hand.
Alex three steps backward and did the same thing, this time it hit the tree but it wasn't at the spot he was aiming at but he was still satisfied and then he took more steps backward.
"Damn it" Alex shouted again as his dagger flew into the forest, now that he was far away from the tree he could get a single swing right, even though the tree was large he still couldn't hit the tree.
Alex took a deep breath and hurled his dagger once again and it was no different from the others, his dagger flew straight into the forest.
"I really need someone to train me, training on my own is futile" Alex muttered as he opened his hand and his dagger returned.
"This skill is really convenient, my dagger would get...wait, isn't this..." Alex stopped immediately and turned around.
The tip of his dagger was stained with blood, and Alex knew the blood belonged to a creature in the forest but Alex didn't know what it was, but it was probably far away since he didn't hear a sound.
"Is something wrong Alex?" Melissa asked as she walked towards him.
"I think there's something in the forest, hey Gabriel wake Rebecca up" Alex shouted.
"How did you know?" Melissa asked.
"My dagger is stained with blood, it came from the forest, or maybe we should check it out," Alex said.
"Okay, but how does a blood stain in your dagger indicate that a beast is in the forest, it might just be..."
