Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 182
As soon as she sent the message, Adam called. Lumma hurried to answer, “Mr. Hills…”
“Where are you now?” There was a hint of resignation in Adam’s tone.
Lumma glanced at the navigation and said, “Peace Road, I’ll be home in another mile or two.”
“Hmm, hang up when you get home.” With that, his voice disappeared from the earpiece.
If not for the call timer number jumping on the screen, she would’ve thought he’d already hung up.
The two-mile ride took only a few minutes. The taxi driver stopped across from the residential area’s north gate.
“Miss, roadwork ahead. The car can’t turn around. Walk over yourself.”
“Okay.” Lumma paid the driver. The enthusiastic driver helped unload her suitcase before driving

A riverside park stretched along the right side of the north gate. Lush roadside greenery and scarce vehicles and
pedestrians at night always gave off an eerie vibe.
Dragging her suitcase, Lumma was about to cross the road when a van whi zzed by. She retreated to
the roadside, thinking about crossing after it passed.
Unexpectedly, the speeding vehicle braked sharply before her. Two men in caps and masks jumped out and forcibly
dragged her in.
“What are you doing?” As soon as Lumma shouted, a hand with thick calluses covered her mouth.
Her phone fell to the ground with a snap.
“Lumma, Lumma…” Adam’s anxious voice came through the phone, but Lumma, being dragged
into the car, couldn’t hear it.
In the
car, the hand over her mouth loosened and taped her mouth shut instead. “Be good and stay
put. No one’s saving you tonight.”
Unable to speak, Lúmma’s eyes didn’t rest. There were three men in the car, one driving, two holding her. Judging
by their skilled movements, they must’ve done this often.
She hadn’t offended any hoodlums. So likely someone had hired thugs to kill her.
Who was it?
Diandra?
Lumma quickly ruled that out. Adam had said in person Diandra wouldn’t bother her again.

Besides Diandra, who else?
Who had she offended in Red Pine City over the years?
Who would dare use such means to kill her?
Soon, Lumma thought of someone-John Lynn!
John had hated her deeply before and had been jailed by her once. Getting out, he must want
revenge.
Buzzing…
Lumma’s private phone in her bag buzzed loudly in the car.
One man reached in, snat ched her bag, and took out her phone. Lumma glimpsed “Lucas Bergman”
on the screen.
The man tore off the tape on her mouth. “Whose call?”
“My husband’s calling.” For a moment, Lumma seemed to glimpse hope. She never expected Lucas to call now.
“Sir, why not let me answer? I just told him I was nearly home. If he can’t reach me, he’ll call the police.”
