Min Yu disregarded his mother even as she stared daggers at him and went straight upstairs.
He had spent all his time at the hospital for the past few days, and had a lot of work to take care of.
…
By the time Huo Yao woke up, the sky was already dark. Since the light in the room was on, it was not as dark as outside.
The musk smell in the air was refreshing as she gradually woke up.
Huo Yao slowly sat up in bed. The moment she raised her head, she could see a man sitting in front of the computer nearby.
The table lamp reflected Min Yu’s face, making his face seem cool and serious. He was dressed in light-colored homewear, so it made him seem a little more approachable. Even though it was quiet in the room, it did not feel suffocating.
Huo Yao’s eyes were a little blurry, so she quietly sat in bed for a few minutes. When she had woken up completely, she pulled off the blanket, walked on the carpet without putting on her shoes, and headed to the computer desk.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMin Yu finally noticed she was up and raised his head. “Are you awake?”
Huo Yao nodded. When she got closer, she glanced at the plans on the table. “Are you still working on the institute’s project?”
“Uh huh. It’s a little complicated.” Min Yu put down his pen and stood up. He walked up in front of Huo Yao and raised his hand to touch her forehead. “You still seem a little cold.”
He frowned upon sensing this. He walked over to the wardrobe, retrieved his jacket, and went over to put it on her.
Huo Yao reached her hand out and pulled the jacket over her. The thick jacket made her face look even smaller. She replied. “I suppose I’ll recover fully in a couple of days.”
......
She had used the acupuncture technique previously, but this was the first time she recovered so quickly.
Min Yu did not stop to find out about her low temperatures and simply asked. “Will it have any long-term side effects?”
Huo Yao’s eyes glinted. “If I get enough rest, I should be fine.”
Min Yu scrutinized her, but he was unable to detect anything amiss with her words, so he said, “Why don’t you rest for a few more days before going back to school?”
Huo Yao nodded. “Uh huh. Why don’t you get back to work?”
“It can wait. Let’s go downstairs for dinner first.” Min Yu held her cool hand as he spoke. When they got to the door, he paused and looked at her sideways. “Can you lend me your jade pendant in a couple of days?”
“Huh?” Huo Yao did not stop to ask what use he had for her jade pendant. She simply nodded and agreed to it promptly. “Okay. I can lend it to you now if you like.”
Min Yu smiled. “Just lend it to me in a couple of days.”
Huo Yao replied, “Sure.”
The two of them went downstairs before long.
Nie Su was nowhere to be seen in the living room, but there was an exquisite bouquet of fresh flowers on the coffee table.
Huo Yao suddenly raised her brow when she caught sight of the bouquet. She said, “Tsk tsk. Did some suitor send them to you?”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMin Yu also saw the bouquet of flowers and paused briefly. He reckoned his mother must have come back with those. He veered his eyes and came closer to Huo Yao as he looked at her deeply. “Are you jealous?”
Huo Yao pulled her hand back and pushed his face aside. She smiled and said, “Do you think you’re that good?”
The moment she finished her sentence, she headed to the dining room.
Min Yu smiled as he tilted his head sideways watching her walk off with her back straight. She clearly did not mean what she said.
He followed behind her unhurriedly.
After she had taken a seat at the dining table and started eating, Min Yu finally said, “My mother sent those in the afternoon.”
Huo Yao was holding the chopsticks, but her hand paused briefly before she nodded calmly. “I see.”
Min Yu raised his brow and added, “It’s for her daughter-in-law.”
Huo Yao did not know what to say.
From the looks of it, she was suddenly having trouble eating.
Huo Yao rubbed her brow.
