Chapter 400

Emmanuel and Eve walked out of the restaurant under the admiring gazes of

the crowd.

The owner of the restaurant directly gave them a free meal and even smiled

as he escorted them to the door. Only after seeing them off did he return to

the restaurant.

“I didn’t expect the insignia of the Wolf Warrior Unit to be so impressive!”

Emmanuel walked beside Eve and sighed.

Unexpectedly, Eve’s gaze turned cold as she snorted, “Are you slow on the

uptake? If you had brought the meritorious token that the Northern Region

gave you, you wouldn’t have had to spend a penny living in Yeringham. Your

could have even become a big shot in Yeringham!”

He smiled without saying a word. After that mission, the Wolf Warrior Unit

suffered heavy losses. He couldn’t bear to bring out the meritorious token.

Eve huffed when she saw him being so silent and walked toward the black

monster truck. She rummaged through it and casually threw a golden

insignia and a document at him.

“Take it!”

Emmanuel reached out and caught it. He felt a surge of emotions as he

looked at the documents and the golden insignia.

Three years ago, due to Casper’s betrayal, the Wolf Warrior Unit suffered a

historic defeat and it caused great damage to the Northern Region.

Emmanuel insisted on leaving the Northern Frontier as he was overwhelmed

by guilt. His action greatly disappointed Kolton who had always regarded him

as a son. Although he had no biological children of his own, he had always

treated Emmanuel like his own.

As Emmanuel retired without any accolades, he couldn’t find a good job, had

no savings, and failed on eighteen blind dates in Yeringham,

-“Kolton said that if you take down Casper and accomplish a meritorious

deed, you can return to your post at any time! Anyway, these two things are

in your hands now. You can decide for yourself!”

After Eve left these words and drove away, he remained in place while lost in

thought.

Since he had already divorced Mackenzie and Claudette was dead,

Yeringham was a sad place for him. The Northern Region still needed him,

should he take the opportunity to go back and see Kolton?

Eve’s car returned while Emmanuel was contemplating his options.

“Captain, get in the car!”

She waved at him. She had intentionally left earlier to give him some time to

think in solitude.

When she noticed that he didn’t immediately leave his spot, she knew that he

was considering returning to the Northern Region.

Sure enough, Emmanuel eventually nodded and got into her car.

In the evening, Mackenzie arrived at the location of the strategic warehouse

to handle the explosion case.

Although she knew that the culprit was Casper and even knew who was

behind his employment, she had no evidence. Moreover, Casper had already

been killed by Emmanuel and it was very difficult to find someone to

compensate for the losses of Terence Group.

“Mackenzie, there’s an annoying person waiting outside for you!”

Beatrix was also at the strategic warehouse and suddenly approached

Mackenzie, who was dealing with matters.

After Mackenzie finished instructing her subordinates, she turned to look at

Beatrix and her expression showed some concern. “Annoying person? Who?”

Beatrix was a bit surprised. Whenever she used this term in the past,

Mackenzie would either tell the person to get lost or simply ignore him. Did

Mackenzie think she was referring to Emmanuel?

“It’s not Emmanuel, okay!”

As expected, Mackenzie’s face immediately fell after Beatrix said this.

“Tell him to leave!”

Mackenzie turned away without waiting for Beatrix to do as she was told as

usual. However, she turned back and asked, “Is it Quintus?”

“Yes. It’s him and not that annoying person Hubert!” Beatrix nodded.

Mackenzie was a little speechless. Only now did she realize that her pursuers

had different nicknames in her sister’s mind.

“Stay here and continue handling things. I’ll meet him,” Mackenzie said before

leaving.

Beatrix was somewhat surprised. Did her sister really no longer want her

brother-in-law and considered accepting Quintus’ pursuit?

Her sister’s judgment couldn’t have deteriorated that badly, right?
