3315 Tunnels
"You should be able to sense the gathering of the storm with the art," I said. "Right," he affirmed.
The wall is a wonder made from the confluence of power from four grand arts. It is powerful and releases a storm of energies that could wipe away even the Earth's Sovereigns.
The thing is the storm couldn't be sensed by the powerful soul sense of Earth Sovereign.
I think forbidden power will help me sense it, but I don't want to use it in front of him. Not to mention, I would need a sample of storm energy to tune it for better detection.
Which I couldn't get without, experiencing the storm.
These are dangerous beyond belief, but also extremely short, lasting for less than a minute before disappearing.
"I hope you will be able to predict it quick enough for us to escape the affected area," I said.
"We will see," he said, and we begin to walk ahead in the giant barren tunnel.
I spread my soul sense, but my range is pitifully short. So, I focused on my other senses and make my clones analyze everything they sensed; including the energies my soul sense catches in its field.
I could extend the range of my soul sense, but that wouldn't be wise.
If anyone could catch me using forbidden power; it is him. He came from a place where these people knew about it and know how to catch the host who has it.
Still, I kept it ready; I will not completely depend on him for my safety. If things get dangerous enough, that I could die; I will not hesitate to use it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI followed him into the tunnel, while constantly keeping track of Nero, who is coming toward us fast. My clone had able to gather enough data from recorded footage that it was able to create a map.
Nero is following that.
Still, despite that, he would need at least fifteen to twenty hours to reach us, even if he traveled without stopping.
Earth Sovereigns are very fast; it will be a challenge for Nero to cross that distance in ten times the time.
I am relieved instead of worried; this place is dangerous, and I would be glad if reaches here after we cross this place.
He had been doing all the hard work, venturing into dangerous places to find a safe spot for us. It is better if we take responsibility for that, at least once.
An hour passed, and we moved to a different tunnel, which is nearly the same, except for the further suppression.
I felt my power reducing by 0.4%. It might seem small, but in the battles, it makes a huge difference. My clones are working on a way to loosen this suppression and it is hard.
"A dead end," He said as we appeared in front of another dead end.
It is our third one in the end, and no one is surprised. We knew it wasn't going to be easy.
We smoothly turned and followed the wall, we have chosen. We are using the simple method of wall-following. This place makes all our methods absolute that we have no choice but to use the most primitive one.
It is not perfect and most used for simple mazes, but still much better than blindly choosing the tunnel.
Another hour passed, and we moved through the countless tunnels, coming across many dead ends, but we were moving forward.
"That will take us back," I said to Ragas when he chose the tunnel. So, he chooses the different one.
Most of my abilities are restricted, but I could sense a few things, which my clones calculate. This way, they could predict which direction I am moving and how far we have gone inside the tunnel from the standing point.
Which is a tremendous help; it helped us avoid going around the tunnels, without making any progress.
It could be said that we are making progress, but there is one thing that frustrated me. I had not found a single useful thing in the place.
I had heard this place is filled with incredible treasures. Everything found here is a top-level Earth Sovereign grade, but till now, I have found nothing.
"Any news of the storm?" I asked, to which he shook his head.
It made me relieved; all the information I got from the Grimms, paint the horror of the storm. Every storm, no matter how weak it is, is powerful enough to kill an Earth Sovereign.
It is why not many people come here; the wall is too dangerous to cross.
There must be something amazing on the other side, for those powerful Earth Sovereigns to take such risks.
Another hour and a half passed, and we cross another tunnel when I noticed something in this barren place.
A shrub of grass; it looked like a simple grass, till I saw the wavy black and blue patterns on it.
"Idrisik grass," I said excitedly.
An extremely rare resource, so much so that people fight, for Primary-III grade stalk and here, I have found the one that is at Earth Sovereign level.
It is an extremely useful resource, the Earth Sovereigns would pay, any price for a single blade of it. As it is one of the resources that could help in their breakthroughs.
"Careful, this thing is quite delicate," Ragas cautioned as we reached it.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm This thing that could bear the storm would turn to dust. If I didn't harvest it through the correct method.
I moved my strings carefully in the grass and harvested the first stalk. Which immediately reimbursed the huge amount of resources I had through the fake storage that Grimms took.
There were a total of twenty-seven stalks, and I have harvested them all.
The moment the grass appeared in my core; my clone put in in a special section. The section had very few resources, which is not surprising, as this section had resources that I could touch after I made a breakthrough in the next stage.
The crystals the Grimm had lost its life for, are also kept in this section.
After I harvested resources, we moved again, searching for a way out.
Another hour passed, and we kept moving. I didn't find any more resources, but I am not sad; the grass is precious enough to satisfy my craving for the resources here.
While we walked, I looked at my core, where my clone was forming a map.
It is a very detailed map; Nero wouldn't have any problem following it when he reaches the wall.
Hun!
I was admiring the map, when I noticed Ragas stiffened.
"The storm started forming," he said as he burst into running; I followed him. "How much time do we have?" I asked, with a cold sweat running from my back, as I could feel the danger.
It is so big that there is no escape from it. If I get caught in it; I will die.
"From the looks of it, fifteen minutes at most," he said as we keep running.
The storm only affected a limited area, but that is not a small space. 95% of people are never able to get out of the range of the storm.
