Chapter 172 Being Confessed

Suddenly, a memory of Toni’s earlier words flashed in her mind.

“When he was drinking just now, you were staring at him the whole time. It’s not just me; everyone noticed. I bet

everyone else thinks the same way. Plus, everyone probably thinks that you fell down on purpose just now.”

As she pondered on it, she felt a sense of unease when she caught his gaze.

Not only did everyone share the same perception, but she also suspected that Julian believed she was intentionally

seeking his attention and had developed a crush on him. However, time would prove otherwise. Since she genuinely

had no interest in him, she had no need to explain herself.

With these thoughts in mind, Nancy averted her gaze and immersed herself in the game. Her colleagues continued

to shout, “It’s your turn to drink again, Nancy.”

Having already consumed a considerable amount of alcohol, Nancy could only inform Toni, before getting

completely drunk, “Take me home later, or let me stay at your house. Don’t forget. I’m relying on you.”

As time passed, she was given fewer drinks as her colleagues noticed her willingness to accept the punishment.

However, she was already intoxicated.

She rested her chin on her hand and leaned against the couch behind her, closing her eyes in an attempt to find

some respite. Her head was spinning, and all she wanted was to sleep and not think about anything else.

Meanwhile, Julian’s lips curled into a sneer.

He couldn’t believe that Nancy continued to participate despite being a light drinker. Although she didn’t consume

much, her tolerance for alcohol was remarkably low. After just a few glasses, she was already drunk and barely

holding on.

What frustrated him the most was the moment he entered the room. Nancy’s clumsy attempt to make him the

hero and her unwavering gaze as he drank were all rather embarrassing in Julian’s eyes. He perceived her actions

as manipulative. However, what surprised him was that his mother seemed to favor this girl. Out of all the high-

society ladies, she chose this girl with a talent for mischief. It was simply unbelievable.

It had been years since Julian attended these new employee gatherings. If it weren’t for his mother overhearing his

assistant’s conversation and learning that Nancy would be present, he wouldn’t have been compelled to come.

However, since he was there, he decided to stay a little longer and discover what made this girl so captivating to his

mother. Unfortunately, he was thoroughly disappointed with

what he found.

Losing his patience, Julian stretched his long legs and left the room.

Once he departed, the atmosphere inside the room immediately became livelter and more boisterous,

overwhelming Nancy. Her head throbbed, and she struggled to breathe in the stuffy environment. Thus, she

decided to step outside for some fresh air.

“Toni, go ahead and continue playing. I’m going out for some fresh air, Nancy said to Toni, who was engrossed in

the game. Then, she left.

“Okay,” Toni replied, her focus entirely on the game.

Nancy approached a waiter and asked for directions to a more ventilated area. The waiter pointed her in a specific

direction, and she headed there without much thought.

However, as soon as she arrived, she overheard a soft voice saying, “I really like you, Mr. Jadin.”

Immediately, Nancy halted her steps and discreetly moved to the side to hide herself.

“So? Should I like you in return?” The man’s voice dripped with arrogance, unmistakably Julian’s cold and ruthless

tone.

“No, Mr. Jadin. I’m just confessing my feelings for you. I didn’t expect you to reciprocate, but I… The girl’s voice

trembled with tears. “I just wanted you to know how I feel.”

“Alright, I understand now. You can leave.” Julian’s voice grew even colder.

Unable to bear it any longer, the girl started crying. “Mr. Jadin, I met you a long time ago gave a speech at our

hospital. At that moment, I fell in love with you. The reason I joined this hospital. is because of you.”

“Are you suggesting that I should be responsible for you just because you came here for me?” His words were cold,

piercing directly into the girl’s heart.

Nancy felt that if she were in the girl’s shoes, she would undoubtedly feel heartbroken.

She cursed inwardly. What a heartless person.

He was so cold and sarcastic. In that moment, Nancy realized that it wasn’t that he didn’t want a girlfriend, but

rather that he couldn’t find one. Being handsome wasn’t enough to attract someone when he was as cold as ice.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Jadin. I shouldn’t have bothered you,” the girl apologized and ran away, tears streaming down her

face.

Since the girl was crying with her head hung low, Nancy could only see vague facial features. Although she didn’t

clearly see the girl’s face, she knew that cry from somewhere.

Unrequited love was the most painful and bitter feeling. If one could openly express their love and have it

reciprocated, no one would willingly choose to endure the agony of unrequited love.

Watching this scene reminded Nancy of her past experiences. The more she dwelled on it, the more frustrated she

became. She had been trying her best not to think about Nicholas, but something always seemed to trigger her

memories.

After the scene concluded, Nancy had almost cleared her mind.

Just as she was about to return, she sensed that something was amiss. Glancing around, she noticed a large

shadow covering the area where she stood. Raising her head, she saw Julian standing in front of

Julian looked at her coldly, pursing his lips. His icy aura was overwhelming.

Nancy pursed her lips and remained silent.

The two of them stood there in silence for a while. Eventually, Nancy couldn’t bear the oppressive atmosphere and

took the initiative to break it. “What a coincidence, Mr. Jadin. I didn’t expect to find. you here. I accidentally

overheard what happened earlier. Don’t worry, though. I’ll keep it a secret. I

won’t breathe a word.”

Initially, Nancy thought she could leave after making her promise. However, Julian continued to block her path.

Then, he said coldly, “I haven’t suffered any loss. Strictly speaking, I received a confession that proves my value

and attractiveness. I should be proud of that. Why should I fear you exposing it?”

Hearing his words, Nancy was left speechless. She thought he was shameless and narcissistic.

In that moment, Julian fixed his gaze on Nancy and took a few steps closer, closing in on her. His sharp. eyes were

like those of a hawk as he asked, “What interests me now is why you are here.”
