After the haunted house, Zhao Lifei dragged him to multiple rides, from roller coasters to swings hanging off from towers, and even a few made for kids. For her sake, Yang Feng endured the stupid long lines underneath the blazing sun. He thought it was fine getting a regular FastPass, but who would’ve thought she actually wanted to live like a commoner!
He noticed her cheeks were slightly red from the heat and her eyes looked a bit droopy. He flicked his wrist and the guards came forward with a hat. "Get iced drinks." He instructed them, placing the hat onto her.
"Fool, you’re overexerting your body like this." He sighed, grabbing the handkerchief and daintily wiping the sweat on her forehead.
"But it’s fun..." She mumbled, grabbing his arm which he dodged. Her heart dropped when he did so, but it soared when he adjusted it so their fingers were entwined. He tugged her out of the line to which she instantly protested.
"I want to ride it—"
"We’ll do it later, once you’ve fully rested." He said, guiding her towards a secluded seating area where his men were already waiting for him. A few minutes ago, he had texted them to clear this area. There was already a massive umbrella prepared for them that provided a hefty amount of shade.
Right when he sat his woman down, the drinks came. "Here, have some. You need to cool down your body before you suffer a heatstroke." He placed the slushy in front of her and began to fan her.
"Don’t drink too fast though, you might upset your stomach." He nagged, while continuing to fan her.
She looked at him sheepishly. This treatment was simply too much for her. Not only was the merciless business magnate spoiling her with drinks and shade, but he was even personally fanning her! She wondered what she did to have a man like him...
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Where’s your drink? Aren’t you hot as well?" She asked him, knowing he was more sensitive to heat than her.
Yang Feng cleared his throat. "I’m fine." He lied, continuing to fan her. The sun was setting, but it was still quite hot outside. He cursed the weather to hell. This was supposed to be a fun day for the two of them, not one where they had to hide under a large umbrella!
Zhao Lifei frowned a bit, then passed the drink to Yang Feng and urged him to take a sip. "It’s good and refreshing. Have some." She said, watching him with her large eyes that he could never resist.
The corners of Yang Feng’s lips curled up when he took a sip, not because the drink was refreshing or sweet, but it was because she was eagerly egging him on without realizing they had just shared an indirect kiss.
"It’s good, right?" She smiled at him, completely unaware that he took her words differently.
"Yeah." He responded, leaning closer to kiss her, but she instantly pulled back much to his dismay. "What’s wrong?" He asked, reaching over to cup her cheek in an attempt to kiss her again.
"We’re in public." She said, her eyes nervously trailing to her environment. The seating area was completely empty and the bodyguards were forming a circle around them with their backs turned, but she still didn’t like to kiss in public. It felt weird for her and made her uncomfortable.
"No one will see. Your sun hat will cover everything." He chuckled, but pulled back after seeing the clear hesitation in her eyes. He stood up and made sure she was holding the drink, before taking her hand and guiding her elsewhere.
When she saw they were walking towards the exit of the park, she spoke up. "Where are we going?" She sounded disappointed.
"I’m taking you somewhere to eat, my love. We’ve played the entire day, you must be tired and hungry by now." He didn’t like dragging her so he changed the position of his hand so that it was securely resting on her hips.
"Oh. Okay..." She glumly said.
She wanted to stay and play more, but was too fearful of voicing her opinion. She knew she made a promise to try and talk about her unhappiness more, but it was hard for her to do so.
She grew up her entire life being told to keep a mask on and that she would be too bothersome if she continued to show her emotions or complain.
The words of her parents had left a deep scar on her, a wound that would take years of practice and patience to heal. The only problem was, she didn’t know Yang Feng was willing to be patient and wait as long as needed for that to happen... even if it meant an eternity.
"Don’t pout, love. We’ll come here again, next time." He squeezed her waist after seeing she was upset at hearing his words. He leaned down to give her a quick kiss on the cheeks and when she responded by inching closer to him, his lips curled into a content smile.
Along the way, Zhao Lifei noticed she was garnering attention left and right, more than usual. She thought it was strange when a few people were eyeing her neck, but now more people were doing it. She began to feel self-conscious and weird.
She touched her neck and looked up at Yang Feng. "Is there something on my neck?" She naively asked, forgetting the moment they shared in the haunted house where he bit and sucked on her neck, leaving two glaring red hickies.
He smirked, enjoying the mark on her neck. She was so ignorant to it the entire time, it was quite amusing. "No."
Her eyes narrowed at his words.
The bodyguards sighed in their head. Oh, Boss, you shouldn’t have said that... Women’s intuitions are too good!
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe pulled out her phone and turned on the front camera. When she saw the marks, a gasp left her mouth and she immediately hit him on the arm. Yang Feng burst out laughing at her expression, a mixture of distress and anger.
"You...you...!" She couldn’t even speak. Oh my goodness! Was it there the entire time?! Was that why people kept on looking at me?
"It’s not funny!" She scowled, continuing to hit him, but this time, using her purse so that she didn’t hurt her hands anymore.
"If it makes you happy, you can leave some on me too." He teased, winking in her way. She responded by hitting him more, but he was too busy being entertained by her adorable expression to care. The idea of her leaving a mark on him excited him too much, leaving his eyes shimmering with high hopes.
"You wish!" She hissed, instantly shattering his dreams to which he smirked.
"Be careful of what you wish for." He let out a low laugh, the sound deep and smooth like milk chocolate. It garnered the attention of women who dreamily stared at him, not believing such a fine specimen was so close to them!
She huffed, turning her head away from him. She used her long hair in an attempt of covering the marks, but the sneaky Yang Feng had placed it in areas where it was practically impossible to hide!
"Don’t be mad, it looks good on you." He continued the banter, biting his bottom lips to prevent the smile threatening to break out. When she turned around, glaring daggers at him, he couldn’t help but want to tease her more. When her reaction was this cute, it was hard for him to resist. But he decided not to bully her anymore for the time being or she might really beat him to the ground.
He opened the car door for her to climb in and the two drove back to the city. Along the way, Zhao Lifei fell asleep, completely unaware where their next location would be. Yang Feng had a soft expression on his face when he parked the car on the side of the road, draped his jacket over her slender body, tucked the sides, and then continued to drive. Because his frame was wide, the jacket covered her perfectly.
When the two finally reached their destination, Yang Feng climbed out of the car first to make sure everything was in order. Afterward, he opened the passenger seat door and tried to wake up his sleeping beauty. She grumbled in her sleep, nearly smacking him in the process of not wanting to be disturbed. He cracked a wry smile and tried to coerce her into waking up.
"Mm...what is it?" She groggily said, still half-asleep as she tiredly rubbed her eyes. She blinked a couple of times until her vision finally cleared out. She looked around and saw their location was absolutely dark, not a single thing could be seen and if not for Yang Feng being with her, she would’ve been scared.
"Cover your eyes." When she looked at him with confusion, sleepiness still within her hazel eyes, he chuckled and lifted her hands for her.
"Keep them covered, I have a surprise for you." He helped her out of the car and gently, he guided her wobbly body down the road.
When Yang Feng moved away, Zhao Lifei immediately missed the warmth he provided. She wanted to protest and tell him to come back because of how chilly the night was, but figured he would have a good reason to leave.
