Chapter 2617 This was Jamir's brother, Dilan.

Upon seeing Rosalynn and Brian, Dilan's expression shifted to one of mild surprise.

"It's you? What's the matter?" Brian supported Rosalynn's body and replied, "We have something important to discuss. May we cin?" Dilan hesitated momentarily before stepping aside to let them enter.

Brian glanced at Rosalynn, offering a supportive smile, then guided her inside.

The place, with its two-bedroom layout, bore the marks of age and neglect.

Various items were strewn across the coffee table and sofa in the living room, with a photo album lying open on the coffee table.

From a bedroom cthe faint sounds of a woman crying.

Quickly, Dilan tidied up the sofa and gestured for them to sit.

Rosalynn's gaze was drawn to the photo album on the coffee table.

It was open to a picture of the three Wagner siblings in their youth; the little girl in the photo bore a striking resemblance to Jamir.

She was holding one sibling in each hand, all three smiling radiantly.

Rosalynn thought the crying must be coming from Jamir's sister, feeling a weight settle on her heart as she remembered Jamir's death.

Library Dilan returned with two glasses of water, giving them to Brian and Rosalynn before settling on the sofa.

He inquired, "Why are you here?" Rosalynn met his gaze and spoke gently.

"Dilan, your brother's body was cremated, wasn't it?" The sudden mention of his brother took Dilan by surprise.

"You knew my brother?" Rosalynn nodded affirmatively.

"We met in Boblyae.

My husband was kidnapped by the local gang leader there, and Jamir helpedrescue him.

Before he died, he madepromise to look after you and your sister." She briefly outlined the situation, then from her bag, she produced a card and slid it across the table toward Dilan.

"There's $500, QQ@0 in the card.

Please take it.

My husband and I will ensure a secure future for you and your sister." Upon hearing this, Dilan's chest heaved, and a flush of red tinted his eyes.

"How did my brother die?" Rosalynn pressed her lips tightly together, the weight of the memory pressing down on her.

"He died saving me..." she confessed.

Dilan, struggling to hold back tears, fixed her with a pained look.

"My brother didn't even know you.

Why would he risk his life for you?" For a moment, Rosalynn was silent, the enormity of Jamir's sacrifice hanging between them.

"He was a good man," she finally said.

She also wondered why Jamir had risked his life for her.

Maybe it was because he was a good man.

Dilan's eyes shimmered with tears he fought to suppress.

Brian then added gently, "Please accept our deepest condolences.

If there's anything you need in the future, just let us know.

We're here to help." With a gesture filled with grief, Dilan pushed the card back towards them.

"Take the money back.

We don't need it." Rosalynn met his gaze firmly.

"Dilan, you might not feel the need for the money, but your sister does.

Didn't your brother risk his life to provide for you both?" Dilan remained silent, his eyes now visibly redder.

Rosalynn exhaled softly, took out a pen and paper from her bag, and veix wrote down her phone number. "This is my phone number.

Callif you need anything." Dilan didn't respond, his eyes glistening with tears that threatened to spill.

Seeing his struggle, Rosalynn felt a deep pang of sadness and added, "Before he died, your brother askedto tell you not to follow his path. Be a good man and take care of your sister."

At her words, Dilan's hand clenched into a fist, tears now streaming snow m upcontrollably down his face. He turned his head away, his shoulders trembling with the effort to contain his grief.

Rosalynn choked up, her thoughts drifting to Jamir's final moments.

Her own eyes reddened with tears as she fought back a wave of emotion.

Beside her, Brian placed a comforting hand on her back.

"Dilan, do you have any other questions?" he asked softly. "If not, we'll be going now."
