Chapter 138
"I've never seen anyone with such audacity! Celena doesn't know any better, so she can't possibly compare to Cheryl, who's been working in the company for years now. How can you possibly come up with such an idea, Dad? You might as well just announce that Cheryl has won! It's a no-brainer!" Teresa said curtly.
Reginald slapped the table and turned to Teresa with a scowl. "Teresa, are you questioning my judgment?"

However, Teresa was not the only one thinking this. Everyone else at the meeting thought the same; Reginald wanted only Cheryl for the job but did not want to appear cruel for not giving Celena a chance. However, Cheryl would no doubt win this competition, and there was no going around it, so everyone kept their opinions to themselves.
However, they were still displeased over this. They could not understand why Celena was offered a chance when their children were not. Was Celena better than any of them? No, of course not! She knew nothing about business. If anything, they would rather the project end up in Cheryl's hands than Celena's.
Celena could hear everyone murmuring about this among themselves. She knew she could not stand a chance against Cheryl when it cto running a business, so she turned to stare rather blankly at Liam.
Celena was silent for so long that Reginald could not help shooting her a glare. "Why aren't you saying anything, Celena? Do you agree with this plan or not?"
Before Celena could reply, however, Liam stepped forward and answered on her behalf, "We agree, sir! We'll go along with this and compete fair and square!"

Cheryl crossed her arms in front of her and said with a look of contempt, "How naive are you, Celena? You'll never win against me! I'll becthe rightful project director, and you won't even stand a chance!"
"Con, Cheryl, it's not good to be too cocky. How can Celena know better? She's never even stepped foot in the office building before, so how can she possibly cup with an even better business proposal than yours? I'm sure even the janitor knows more about running a business than her!"
With that, Cheryl and Sherah sauntered away, cackling, leaving behind a bewildered Celena and Liam.
The meeting room was now empty. Celena took two steps back and slumped into her chair, her eyes brimming with tears. "Liam, I'm terrible at this! I don't know a single thing about running a business! I'm sorry for disappointing you."
Celena's entire mind was filled with dismay, regret, guilt, and shame. She could not stop her tears from falling anymore. Tears slid down her cheeks, and she clutched her sleeve tightly as she sobbed.
Liam knew that Celena needed tto find her confidence again, so he stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. "Celena, please have sfaith in yourself! You were an extraordinary woman even before we met! You're intelligent and quick on your feet—I'm sure you'll pick up the reins in no time! It's okay. There's still plenty of tuntil the project starts, so I'll help you cup with your business proposal during this time!"
