"W-What happened?" Roy's eyes were slowly opening as he watched the rest of the group.
* Purr * The panther in the same began rubbing its head against the boy's leg.
"Hehehe Hey Snowy" Roy said, as he extended his spleen to pet her. But when he tried to move the other one, he understood in the same instant what had happened.
The druid and the Shaman were looking with a worried face, not knowing how to explain that situation. "Kodiak... My hand" Roy's eyes were wide open, closing his eyes again, his face came out of that despair. "What did the doctors say?" he said.
"You can either remove your arm and put in a prosthesis, or stop the explorations completely and wait for a healer supreme. They were waiting for you to wake up to know their decision" as soon as the druid stopped talking, tears started streaming down the red-haired man's face. "Ask them to remove my arm" he said.
Ruri was the first to intervene in his decision "But if you wait a little... maybe they will", but Roy interrupted her friend's speech "the line would take years, with a prosthesis I can still shoot arrows. ask the doctors to come back" he said. The mood in the room was horrible, Ruri and Nivia were feeling guilty, while Kodiak was disappointed in his role as leader.
A silence remained in the room, only interrupted by Nivia pressing the button that called the nurse. "Thank you for saving me, all of you. I was reckless...I...I'm glad I didn't die" Roy's face was red, he was sniffling, crying and afraid, "I didn't think that...I thought that...I don't want to lose my arm".
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs much as Kodiak tried to think of words to speak, it was too complex a situation, it was as if a knot was holding his throat. He couldn't speak, even though he wanted to help, this feeling was general to everyone in the group. Then the door opened and footsteps echoed through the door, the nurse was accompanied by the doctor.
"Well, we need to talk to Roy alone now. If you guys can go outside" The nurse was trying to be kind, speaking in the most polite and friendly tone possible. The group nodded and made their way to the door. "Thank you... I just wanted to make it clear, that I appreciate all of you... I didn't want to die" Roy's words touched everyone's heart, and it created an even bigger flame in Ryan's heart.
In the waiting room, the group was divided. The nurse had recommended that they let him rest now. Nivia and Ruri went home, while Kodiak and Ryan continued talking, walking toward John Wrynn's room. "When I dreamed of being a traveler, they never really made it clear how perilous that job was" Kodiak said, sighing, "Maybe for you it doesn't make that much difference Ryan, since you are strong. But whenever something like this happens to a teammate, I feel horrified and think about quitting. It's always like that."
'I can understand you pretty well with that' Ryan thought, but he held his words back a bit "Has this been repeated as often as you say?" he questioned, concerned. Kodiak's eyes were serious, looking down, he nodded "I've seen several good travelers lose their lives over quick decisions, I'm a terrible team leader. Can I really be considered a prodigy? I don't think I'm on the level of half the travelers here."
Ryan gave Kodiak a small punch on the shoulder, "You're being too hard on yourself, this charge is positive, but you only have absolute power over your actions. I'm not talking about ignoring your allies, just don't carry a weight that isn't yours."
"It's hard...it's just too hard..." the druid replied, holding back his tears. Ryan then turned to him and said "You are a good leader, I'm sure the guild recognizes that. Don't have any doubts about your ability, that will only make it worse." Kodiak gave a small smile and nodded, then the two went their separate ways. The druid went to the base library, while Ryan went to the administration.

Sitting in his leather armchair, John Wrynn was facing the door. He was watching over fifteen magic holograms, in each one, one of his handpicked travelers was training incessantly. "He's waiting at the door" The secretary said. Swiveling in his chair, the regional guild officer looked at the door, "You may enter."
Wrynn's eye was glowing with that golden color, it was an extremely intense and threatening look. When the door opened, the holograms turned off, leaving only the sound of Ryan Whitemane's sneaker steps. "What do you need, boss?" he said with a confident smile.
"Nivia's report is telling me that you found some books in the red portal. Did you bring them out?" John's voice was serious, it was the first time Ryan had talked to him in that state. "I couldn't bring the books, I got busy with that" he said as he pulled out of his bag an extremely bright blue orb. "Is this of any interest to you guys in the guild?" he said, placing that orb on the table and sitting down in the armchair opposite John.
"How did you get a winter core? The group just reported an ice dragon heart" John Wrynn was wary, with a sharp eye for Ryan's every move. "That was among the loots of an ice sovereign, I thought about bringing the books back, but a winter core is more valuable."
"You're a smart kiddo, what do you want in exchange for this core?" John reclined a bit in his chair, bringing his coffee mug up to his mouth. "Tell me the truth, this base is over-equipped. It doesn't make sense for a health facility to have more than two hundred rooms if this place is only for training. Tell me, John" Ryan's red eyes were glowing with an extremely intense crimson.
"I told you kid, the guild is desperate about the next impact," this answer was reasonable, but still seemed limited. So Ryan once again insisted "What are the readings saying?".
John then pulled a cigarette from one of his desk drawers. Lighting it with a quick fire magic, he puffed and released some smoke downward. Placing the palm of his hand on the table, he caused a hologram the size of a movie screen to appear behind him.
"The readings are saying that the impact is going to be fifty times bigger than the last one. The intensity of the readings is still low because of the distance of the explosion, the number may be higher as it gets closer to the time" Behind John were the magic readings, graphs that showed how much mana there was in a particular region of the planet. There was also a giant sphere shaped like the planet, on each of the seven continents, there was a giant black sphere.
"Mr. Wrynn! Why are you telling him this?!" The secretary screamed in panic. John then held out his hand, ordering her to stop speaking. "Ryan, my eyes possess a supreme skill called Clairvoyance. I think I better let you know that right away, you have a special quality, a title I have not found in anyone else" Moving closer to the chair and putting out his cigarette. John Wrynn said "Of all the prodigies and adventurers I have encountered, none have been called The Last Hero.
The secretary then fell silent, she was confused and even Ryan took time to understand the news he had received. "The guild needs you, I don't know what that title means. But in the worst case scenario, we will only be able to count on you."
Ryan nodded, left the ice orb on John's desk and left the room.

'I won the lottery, now I have a reason to extort whatever I want from the guild'
As much as he was bothered by the possibility of having to face a colossal boss alone, or even by the chance he had of dying. Not even the apocalypse that had just been announced could take away the happiness he was feeling. With a smile on his face, he used a portal to be launched into the noble area of neodrazzil.
eαglesnᴏνel Walking through the brightly lit streets of that district, Ryan made his way towards Lyza Fireseeker's elegant apartment. 'Maybe the best thing I can do is talk to her about it' He concluded. <But what if the guild gets upset about it?> Nyx questioned, worried.
'In no time at all I will be able to ascend Lyza up to SSS Rank. The guild won't get in the way of such a strong adventurer, plus they won't do anything against me' Ryan's head was thinking of all possible possibilities, at least trying to think. He wanted to make the most of the guild's powers and his key position in winning against the next impact.
But there were still bigger doubts in his head, getting into the elevator that led to Lyza's house, he went over everything that happened that day. 'John was bothered by the dwarven books, and these irregularities in the portals... We need to look more into that' He concluded.
The elevator led straight to Lyza's house. The moment he stepped out of the elevator and into the apartment, he was greeted by three of her servants. Rose, Ellen and Lyza, all of them were almost naked.
