114 The Dream (3)
(Tom’s PoV)
Or rather, who were waiting for me.
This... guest room is a bit too big, isn’t it?
Sitting in the room was some people who I had never met before. On the farthest end of the room, there was a big chair. Judging from the size and the meticulous carving on the chair, it must be for a very important person.
Well, I doubt I was the person.
On my right, sitting along the wall was some elders who were wearing traditional clothes with one similarity; they were dark in color. On my left was a row of white-clothed men, standing straight and not moving even just an inch -except the movement of their eyelashes, looking sturdy and scary, but somehow there was an indescribable feeling I had inside, as if these men were emitting sacred aura around them; like they were some holy people selected by the Almighty to eradicate every evil beings in this world.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBut, the feeling didn’t end here; the strongest feeling I had inside was... a sense of belonging. It was as if I knew them, that they were my blood brothers, that we were actually so closed.
Of course, it was not my first time meeting this kind of white-clothed people. They were so similar with the ones who were guarding Jane’s room at that time, but at that time I didn’t have this kind of feeling when I saw them. I guess they only looked similar, but different in some ways.
The men on my right side were closing their eyes, as if our presence didn’t disturb them at all. The white-clothed men, on the other side, was looking straight in front of them.
.....
What’s so interesting about the wall, really? I tried to follow their line of gaze, but I really couldn’t see anything good on the wall. The wall was made from wood; teak wood, on top of that. The rich brown color was giving the room different view from when I was outside.
It was as if I was in the room of an important figure in the village. The feeling it gave me was a small luxurious house, instead of an ordinary house in a village.
Whoever owned this house was probably filthy rich.
“Please, sit here.” The man who was guiding me had stood in the middle of the room where a cushion was placed.
He wanted me to sit on it? I arched my eyebrows.
The man politely urged me to sit on the pointed cushion, so I could only comply and walked towards the cushion. As I sat down on it cross-legged, the eyes of the elders fluttering opened. Their gazes were directed at me, but despite the nervous thump in my chest, I didn’t feel any emotion from their gazes.
How could every one of them control their emotion that well? Among these people, there must be one person who ruined the harmony, who would spill the beans, but I couldn’t see anyone like that.
As I was still pondering about these elderly, the door near the big chair on the furthest end was pushed open from the other side. From the door came a middle aged man. His sturdy and thick beard looked all scary, giving the others a scary man vibe on the first meeting. But, despite his scary appearance, his bright eyes deceived his appearance.
From his bright eyes, I could see years of experience that he had gone through, forged him to be hard and wise, but still didn’t lack his kindness. Those eyes seemed expecting something, a good thing. His lips were hidden behind the bush of his beard and mustache, but I could make a slight smile on it when he saw me.
The man sat down on the empty chair near the big one. Based on his position, he must be some kind of right or left hand of the person who owned the big chair.
I was really curious to see this person.
“Let’s begin.” The man who entered the last started speaking. His raspy voice sounded charismatic to my ears. It was rare for me to find another man’s voice to be charismatic, but this man’s voice fit the category easily.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAs soon as this man’s voice fell, the elders that had been sitting quietly started to move slightly. Sitting there crossed-legs, their backs were straight with head held up, hands on their knees. Seeing their posture, no one would believe that they were old men. Their eyes were sharp, like fighters on the battlefield.
“Initial Challenge for the future General of the First Army, will now begin. The candidate, son of the late Fadel Alamsyah, Thomas Putra Alamsyah, will have his first trial to be the General of the First Army; Soul Endurance, including the mentality and spiritual test. The test will be supervised directly by Sir Ahmad Ismail, the right hand man of the current king, and will be conducted under the guidance of the elders in Satu village.” The man who led me to this room started speaking and after hearing about what he said, I was stunned.
What trial?
What General?
How do they know my father’s name?
How do they know my name?
What king?
Satu village?
Where is it?
Where am I?
