I watched the banter happened in front of me while eating quietly. We didn’t have any training today and as far as my eyes could see, I didn’t see any ghost or even my own men around us. It was like a normal day of normal human. I didn’t even sense any negative aura which could be felt even though I couldn’t see them.
It was too calm that I couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Even though we wouldn’t face any evil ghosts or entities every day, our life had never been this calm before.
Calm before a storm.
I just hoped it wouldn’t be that case.
Anyway, since we could have a normal day without seeing ghost, I decided to enjoy it to the fullest. After eating our fill, we planned to visit some places in Y City that had not been visited before.
The strange thing was we didn’t see any entities at home, but we didn’t see any of them when we were outside too. It was like there was no trace of them in Y City. It was so strange that I couldn’t help but think about it even when we were having fun.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe weather was nice and the air felt clear. Our surrounding was filled with positive vibe that made most people looked even more pleasant. I was supposed to enjoy it but there was something that made me concern.
Biting the spoon in my hand, my eyes were wandering around, trying to see any ghost that would possibly pop out of nowhere. Usually ghosts in form of kids were the easiest to spot because of their playful nature. However, I could see any of them.
.....
My eyes squinted in uncertainty. What’s going on with this weird vibe?
“What is in your head?” Tom knocked on my forehead softly.
“Your ice cream is going to melt if you keep daydreaming like that.” Sanji scooped a big portion of ice cream from my bowl, followed by my resentful glare.
“It doesn’t mean you can take it!” I pulled my bowl closer to me to prevent him snatching more of it.
Sanji smirked. “You only realized now? That’s the fifth time I ate your ice cream, sweetheart. It means that whatever distracts you from eating ice cream is something serious.” He smiled while speaking in a matter-of-fact tone.
“You have us. Don’t think about everything by yourself.” Tom reached out his hand and forcefully took my bowl. “And you should stop eating ice cream, for real. It’s your third bowl, right? You don’t want to get stomachache tomorrow during the meeting, right?” He said while meeting my glare head on.
I blinked my eyes in resignation. I couldn’t argue with them over that matter. It was indeed my third bowl. If they didn’t remind me, I would have finished it up and I was sure I would get stomachache later.
“You should have said that in my second bowl.” I said weakly, trying to blame it to them.
“We’ve tried. But you just didn’t listen. Turns out you’ve been zoning out so seriously that you didn’t even hear us. But, your way of zoning out is really awesome. You were daydreaming, but you’re still able to order another bowl of ice cream.” Tom clapped his hands while staring at me.
So sarcastic. I scowled at him.
“I know what you’re thinking about. It must be because it’s too calm, right? For people like us who are always related to ghosts that normal people can’t see, it is really too calm, indeed. But, what’s the worst that can happen to people with inhuman power like the both of you?” Sanji smiled confidently.
I snorted as I heard the last part of his sentence. Inhuman power? Said by the person who could probably be more inhuman than us later.
Of course, I didn’t’ say it out loud. The fact that his power was terrifying was still unknown to many people. Maybe I was the only person who knew about it. I didn’t how he could hide it from Tom, but as the Advisor of White Army, I think Siji knew about it too. It was just he didn’t say anything about Sanji’s power.
“Well, you’re right. What’s the worst that could happen to us? Since there’s no ghosts can disturb us, let’s enjoy our day. We haven’t had normal date ever since we got together right?” Tom playfully stared at me with his teasing smile.
I smirked. “Fine. Since you ask for it nicely, then let’s have a date. But you should remember that with two men and one woman, it’s hard to have a normal date. After all, who would be so crazy to have a date with two men at once?” I chuckled lightly. “A girl is caught red-handed having affair by her boyfriend. But her boyfriend doesn’t get angry, but instead having a date with them together.” I shrugged as I recited the possible headline the masses would make later.

“Not everyone can have the same chance as yours. Just enjoy it. Ignore what they are going to say.” Sanji stood up and rubbed my head lovingly. He then walked towards the cashier and paid for our order while Tom and I stood up and waited for him.
“Let’s go.” I put on my sunglasses and walked ahead of them. With Tom and Sanji one step behind me, I felt like a princess with two bodyguards. Hahaha.
We satisfied our mind and eyes to go sightseeing the cultural heritage in City Y, including the place where we would be holding meeting tomorrow. There was nothing special in that place. It still looked majestic as always, but really...there’s nothing special.
We returned home after went sightseeing before dark. Still, there was no ghost at sight.
Until we slept at night, I couldn’t see or sense any of them. I didn’t even try to call Siji since I thought of giving him days off.
Did ghost need days off?
On the next day, I woke up a bit later than usual. Since the meeting would start in the afternoon, I thought that we could do something else in the mean time. Therefore, we set out from home a bit early.
The sun was still glaringly bright in the blue sky when we finally reached a small restaurant near the beach. Picking up the best spot to sit, I let the men to order food as I stared at the waves playing with the sand of the beach.
Yes. It was South Sea. The place I was planning to ‘visit’ after I was done finding news about it.
It was so close yet it was so far...
