Chapter 1194 Apology

"What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" Elisa asked. She knew it must be about Julia that Darren decided

to speak to her. She treasured Julia a lot, and she wouldn't hesitate to help if she was needed. There was no room

for ambiguity in that.

Gareth didn't say anything. He had already turned off the car engine before Elisa answered the call. Darren was

completely unaware that the speakerphone was on. Soon after, they heard Darren sigh, his voice tinged with a

sense of powerlessness as he spoke, "I understand that now might not be the most appropriate timing to bring this

up, and I understand if you're feeling uneasy. But I am truly sorry for how I've treated you in the past, and I hope

you can forgive me."

Darren handled the situation with tact, fearing that he might upset Elisa again.

Elisa could sense what he was about to say, but she responded calmly, "There's no need to dwell on the past, Old

Mr. Wickam."

Throughout the conversation, Elisa didn't address him as Grandpa. To her, Darren was simply an elder who

deserved respect, and Elisa showed him that respect out of deference to Julia.

Darren couldn't help but let out a deep sigh, "My child, Grandpa was wrong in the past. Please don't hold a grudge

against me. I have come to realize that I was too stubborn back then."

Elisa was surprised. While she knew it was because of the pressure from Julia that Darren caved in, she didn't

expect Darren to be willing to apologize to her.

"You don't have to say that," Elisa replied calmly. However, she couldn't help but glance at the man beside her,

trying to gauge his emotions and better understand the situation. But as expected, Gareth's expression remained

unreadable.

"Will you forgive me?" The old man asked, his voice laced with guilt and hope.

Elisa smiled wryly, "I never held any grudges against you in the first place, so there's nothing to forgive."

While Elisa was telling the truth, Darren seemed to have misunderstood her meaning, thinking she wasn't willing to

forgive him.

He let out another deep sigh. He had already said so much, and if Elisa wasn't willing to forgive him, there was

nothing else he could do except try to make it up to her.

Realizing that Darren was in a complicated state of mind, Elisa cut to the chase and asked, "What do you want to

talk to me about?"

The old man's eyes flickered, and he spoke slowly, "I'm aware of the incident with you and Garry trending on Twitter

earlier."

Elisa was taken aback and didn't understand why Darren suddenly brought up the trending incident on Twitter.

Perhaps Darren still despised her but couldn't outright oppose her relationship with Gareth due to Julia's wishes, so

he was now addressing it with her privately? Was he asking her to distance herself from Garry?

She glanced at Gareth once again, but his expression remained unchanged. She remained silent, waiting for Darren

to continue.

And then, to her surprise, she heard words that she never thought she would listen to.
