Chapter 236

Helen didn't expect her to say that, and she sighed helplessly. Selena could see how determined Helen was, but

Yvette was carrying the blood of the Flynn family. If Yvette was sentenced, the child would be born under a

shadow. Suddenly, Selena kneeled down in front of Helen. Helen's heart skipped a beat, not wanting to see

Selena compromise like this for a child's sake. "Mom, I'll go!" she said through gritted teeth.

She always thought she could abandon everything for the sake of profit, but seeing Selena kneel, she couldn't

control herself

anymore.

After the Luminara Festival ended, Yasmine felt a twinge in her heart, something she hadn't felt before. She was

confused about how to approach her relationship with Yonas. The previous coldness seemed to be replaced with

emotions that swung between indifference and passion after the festival.

Yasmine drove over the Metropolis Crossing, the bridge connecting Soucrity and the Misty Evergreen Isle. Misty

Evergreen Isle had been abandoned for a long time, and the bridge hadn't been used in ages either.

The entire bridge takes around 10 minutes to cross. Yasmine hadn't even left Misty Evergreen Isle when she

noticed something was off. It hit her that the moment she entered the island, a car had been tailing her. In the

rearview mirror, she saw a black sedan keeping a steady distance behind. She cautiously slowed down to test it,

but the car didn't overtake her. On the whole bridge, it was just her and that car.

The phone rang with Yonas's voice on the other end. "Yasmine, where are you?" he asked.

"Someone's following me!" she blurted, and just as she spoke, the phone signal cut out, and Yonas's call was

dropped. Accompanied by a loud crash, Yasmine barely managed to hold onto the steering wheel as the car

collided with hers!

Damn it! Yasmine slammed her hand on the horn, only to be met with another jolt. Sweat trickled down her

forehead. The road was deserted, and after the bridge, it would be empty country roads with no help in sight.

She floored the gas pedal, and the car surged forward. With no other choice, she had to take a gamble!

On the bridge, the two cars shot forward like meteors, with the black sedan sticking close to Yasmine's bumper.

Suddenly, an unexpected vehicle appeared on what was an empty road, speeding directly toward her. Her eyes

widened. At that speed, it was heading straight for a collision. Were these people crazy?

Yasmine was speeding down the road; slamming the brakes suddenly would send her flying. She was caught

between a rock and a hard place, with wolves in front and leopards behind. All she could do was dodge as best

as she could, yanking the steering wheel at the last second to avoid a collision. Though her timing was on point,

she still got hit at the rear end of her car. It spun around in place and took off again at an uncontrollable speed.

Thrown forward by inertia, Yasmine crashed into the steering wheel, a sharp pain spreading through her chest.

The agony was so intense she could barely breathe. But she couldn't give up now-she had to grip the steering

wheel tighter and slam her foot down on the gas pedal, no matter how much it hurt.

The car shot forward like an arrow released from a bow. Yasmine pinched herself hard, trying to stay calm even

though she was trembling with fear at the sight ahead.

The sky was foggy, making visibility poor, and the car behind was relentless in its pursuit. The vehicle she had

maneuvered away from earlier had turned around for another intense chase. In the blink of an eye. Yasmine

grasped the wheel firmly, flooring the accelerator with all her might

Stopping now wasn't an option, stopping meant certain death. As she burst off the bridge, Yasmine sharply

turned the steering wheel and flew onto the winding mountain road Rockscattered everywhere, and even the

slightest miscalculation could send her wheels into a deadly skid

Yasmine was driving for her life, with two black cars tightly on her trail. Her phone kept ringing, but in this

chaotic moment, she couldn't risk moving a muscle. The tires screeched against the pavement, making a

terrifying sound.

As the dust kicked up behind her, the car tailing her seemed hell-bent on ramming into her vehicle, adopting a

desperate, do-or-die mentality. Yasmine knew that the constant phone calls had to be from Yonas, who must be

extremely worried after hearing what she said earlier. Yet with the relentless car behind her, she couldn't afford a

moment's lapse at this critical juncture.

Yasmine underestimated their persistence. At a sharp curve, she felt her mind drifting and her consciousness

blurring. She grit her teeth, forcing herself to stay alert. The mountain road was narrow and steep, and the

slightest mistake would send her plummeting down, a sure path to death.

It was getting late, and the mountain roads were treacherous without streetlights. The car behind switched on its

high beams, flashing its lights and hurting her eyes. In a moment of daze, the car rear-ended hers with a violent

impact, causing Yasmine to lose her grip on the steering wheel, and she crashed into it forcibly.

Ahead of Yasmine was a hairpin turn, and by now her consciousness had faded to the point of losing all

sensation. She could only watch helplessly as her car and the pursuing vehicle plummeted off the edge, the

terrifying speed pulling the car from its intended course. Yasmine quickly spun the steering wheel, and after a

few swerves, her car crashed into a tree. Exhausted, she slumped over the wheel, blood trickling down her

forehead. The car that had hit her wasn't so lucky either; it veered off the cliff after colliding with her. Yet, there

was another... Yasmine whipped around, the screech of tires grinding against the asphalt echoing sharply in the

silent mountain forest. She turned her gaze to the left as expected-another car was speeding towards her.

Trapped in front of the tree, all she could do was watch helplessly as the vehicle barreled down on her.

The car charged at her, and in a rush of fear, she shut her eyes tight.

Bang!!! The violent collision and the screech of metal grinding against metal pierced the air, almost puncturing

her eardrums. But the anticipated pain didn't come; the scene of Yasmine being thrown off didn't happen either.

Yasmine slowly opened her eyes to find that her car remained in its previous position. She caught sight of the

other car that had been hurtling towards her being swept aside by a black Cayenne. Such speed must have been

needed to shove it off its course. Just before losing consciousness, she saw who had arrived-it was Yonas!

When Yasmine woke up again, she was shivering from the cold. After a night of unconsciousness, she finally

cto her senses completely, feeling sticky all over, utterly uncomfortable. She pushed the car door open

forcefully; the impact had slightly deformed it, and it took a lot of effort to get it open. She crawled out of the

car, taking deep breaths of the fresh mountain air, and the pain in her chest was gone.

Suddenly remembering something, she quickly walked over to the other car that had been hit and found the

black Cayenne.
