Chapter 267

"Look, she actually dared to sit here. Do you think she caught something hanging around with that girl who has

AIDS for so long?"

"Anyway, she doesn't look like a good person, causing trouble for so many people."

Yasmine sipped her wine slowly, not wanting to pay attention to the voices around her. But the more she tried to

ignore. them, the more those words seemed to burrow into her. She thought to herself with a hint of self-

mockery, they're not wrong. After all, Teresa did die because of her, no matter how you look at it.

Yasmine's eyes dimmed. The murderer from the stables, the one who killed Teresa, was now standing center

stage, talking with Yonas, confidently facing the cameras and everyone else, arm in arm with him.

"What nonsense are you all spouting? Shut up! Mr. Russell himself publicly cleared Yasmine's nin an

interview, and here you are gossiping. Are you questioning Mr. Russell's decision? | have a mind to record all of

you right now and have Yonas explain to each one of you," Lucy suddenly interrupted, standing in front of

Yasmine. She even got her phone ready to film.

Those women finally left, somewhat frightened. "What kind of person is that? So rude."

Unfazed, Lucy continued to shout after their retreating backs, "Callingill-mannered? You talk behind people's

backs spouting all sorts of nasty things, and you call yourselves 'cultured'? Ridiculous. Now, get lost!"

Yasmine let out a little chuckle, her eyes gleaming with amusement.

"You sure find it funny, huh? I've been out here fighting for you, and these women have nothing better to do than

gossip every day. Why don't you ever stand up for yourself? Just letting them spread all those ridiculous stories,"

Lucy said.

"Well, isn't that what you're here for? To helphandle it?" Yasmine replied.

Lucy tried to keep a straight face, "Oh, don't you try that on me, it won't work." Yasmine quickly handed her a

pastry, "Here, have some."

"You can't bribeso casually; this is just a party snack! You're really good at givingwhat's already here,"

Lucy remarked, but she still took it and munched away.

"Why are you here?" Yasmine asked.

"I'm here to find him," Lucy said, blushing a bit.

Yasmine gave her a knowing look, glancing at the red mark on Lucy's neck, "Take it easy, you know."

"What?" At first, Lucy was confused, but when she noticed Yasmine's gaze aimed at her neck, she quickly

covered it up, "What are you staring at? Stop looking!" she said before scurrying away with a flushed face,

cursing that stupid Chuck for ignoring her request not to leave marks in such obvious places.

By the mountain of wine glasses on the lower floor of the hall, Xavier was chatting with others, but his eyes kept

darting to Yasmine in the corner. He noticed that she seemed to be sizing something up. Suddenly, Yasmine

moved. She walked toward the winery owner who had been mingling in the crowd, mustering up the courage to

go speak with him.

Yet before she could approach him, Irene stepped in, blocking her path. She greeted the winery owner with

enthusiastic warmth.

It was obvious to anyone watching what was going on, but nobody said a word. Besides the winery owner,

Yasmine had already attempted to talk to several people, but every time, her efforts ended in failure. Each time,

Irene would conveniently pass by, exchanging greetings with people.

From a distance, Xavier watched Yasmine's struggles with each rejection unfolding in front of her as if he were a

bystander. Yet, nothing seemed to deter her determination. Irene would undermine her from behind, but she just

kept finding a new target. Over and over, she couldn't escape the cycle she had unknowingly trapped herself in.

It wasn't until Yasmine saw Morgan, who was also trying hard without any interference, that she realized Irene

had only been targeting her. Giving up on finding targets, she sat quietly on the sofa.

Yasmine walked to the table and was just about to pick up a glass of wine when a voice suddenly warned, "Don't

drink that wine; it's corked." She leaned in to sniff it and indeed caught a strong musty aroma emanating from it.

She focused on the person who had been speaking just now, an old man wearing shabby pants, "How did you

figure it out?"

"I smelled it," the old man replied.

She placed her hand on the cup next to the one she picked up earlier, the ssound echoed once more, "Don't

drink this cup, the sulfur dioxide concentration is too high. These sneaky merchants just keep adding

preservatives to wine without understanding what's actually good for your health."

"What about this one?" Yasmine asked, pointing to the other side

The elderly man took a look, even picked his nose a bit, "This one smells alright, go ahead and drink it.

Yasmine thought she finally found the right wine and took a small sip. The old man then finally spoke his last

words, "It smells fine, but does it taste a bit nutty?"

""Yes," Yasmine replied.

"Good, but you shouldn't drink this bottle of wine either; it's been oxidized too early," the old man warned.

"What?" Yasmine coughed quickly.

"It means it oxidized, so it might taste a bit off and slightly bitter

Yasmine nearly spit out her sip of water, but held it in at the last second. After swallowing the mouthful of wine,

she calmly said, "It's a bit sour, not a taste I like. It's like a slightly ripe orange, half yellow half green, filling your

mouth with sourness. The person's eyes suddenly lit up, "It's the sfeeling | got!"

This time, Yasmine finally took a good look at the man in front of her, or rather, the elderly man. He wasn't

dressed sharply, just in regular casual clothes, and his pants even had a few patches. At first glance, she thought

he was a beggar who had wandered into the event. But then it occurred to her, if he really was a beggar, he

wouldn't have been able to get in here. He must be someone low-key.

As the old gentleman chatted with Yasmine, he motioned towards the service staff. A server holding a glass of

red wine approached with a polite smile. He lifted the bottle and poured one-third of the wine into the glass, still

smiling as he was about to walk away. The old gentleman stopped the server right there, "Did you let it

breathe?" He had clearly seen the server open a brand new bottle of red wine. The server's eyes widened,

speechless.

Yasmine understood that this was probably another person judging the old man by his appearance, assuming he

was a beggar and not giving him the respect he deserved.

"I'm sorry, it was my oversight," the server said apologetically.

Yasmine said in a serious tone, "Be more mindful in the future. Think about it, how could someone attending a

wine tasting

not know this? Judging people solely by appearance just tarnishes the reputation of Paragon Hotel."

"I'm sorry." The server bowed at a ninety-degree angle, eyes swollen with tears, almost on the verge of crying.
