Chapter 289
Claire, with tears in her eyes, clung to Christine's arm. "Christine, it's shocking how cruel Yasmine is at such a
young age. Donna, who grew up with you, has always been so sweet and sensible. You have to stand up for her."
Christine shot a glare at Yasmine. "Nonsense! Let the Mayfield family go right now and apologize to your sister."
Ivette's lashes quivered with anger. "Christine, are you already convicting Yasmine?"
With a cold glint in her eyes, Yasmine said firmly, "There's no way Caleb's being released, and apologizing is out
of the question. If Donna denies it, Caleb knows, and there are ways to make him speak."
Ivette Mayfield stomped her foot in frustration, "Are you planning to force a confession? If you lay a finger on
Caleb, the Mayfield family won't let it go."
Yasmine's eyes narrowed. "Is that a threat?"
The atmosphere suddenly turned tense as a robust voice demanded, "What's going on here?" Uncle Jared
entered, frowning. He saw Yasmine encircled by others, Christine's eyes blazing with anger, Donna crying with
frustration, and Yasmine being interrogated. "What's going on?" Uncle Jared asked. Ivette quickly took his hand
and pulled him aside for a chat.
Uncle Jared soon returned, his eyes icy as he addressed Claire and Christine: "Caleb brought this on himself by
bothering Yasmine. She was right to take action, and he deserved to be taken away. Besides, | can't believe the
Mayfield family would just stand by while their only grandson is in police custody. If it were me, I'd have already
pulled strings to get him out."
"Very well," Christine said, standing up with her cane. Her eyes, foggy and full of malice, shifted from Yasmine to
Uncle Jared.
"Is this how the Sanchez family treats in-laws? Maybe we should gather the ancestors and elders of both the
Mayfield family and the Sanchez family to sort this out, or else, what happens to our Mayfield family's
reputation?” Claire huffed, her cane hitting the ground with a thud, "Let's go."

Once they were gone, Uncle Jared turned to Yasmine, his face full of concern. "What's going on here? Why didn't
you tellyesterday that Caleb had dared to bully you? Did you get hurt?"
Feeling touched, Yasmine shook her head. "Uncle Jared, I'm okay. See, I'm standing right here in front of you.
Caleb's been taken to the police station as well." She left out other details, not wanting to add to Uncle Jared's
worries.
Uncle Jared gave Yasmine a quick once-over to ensure she wasn't hurt. Remembering Ivette Mayfield and
Christine's domineering attitude, anger flared within him. "Don't worry, Yasmine; I'm here and won't let them
push you around," Uncle Jared assured her, giving a comforting pat on her shoulder. "Aunt Ivette and | are taking
off now. Make sure to chat with your cousin; he's really worried about you."
Yasmine nodded and said, "Don't worry, Uncle Jared. I'll make sure Caleb speaks up."
On their way back to the old house, Ivette, sitting in the passenger seat, couldn't hold back any longer. She shot
Jared a frosty look before speaking. "Your niece is something else, always calling the police whenever things go
wrong. Weren't Yvette and Helen arrested before? Now it's the Mayfields' turn. Do you know who was taken this
time? My brother's only son, the Mayfield family's sole heir. How am | supposed to explain this to Christine and
my brother?"
Ivette took a moment before saying, "Good thing my brother hasn't caught wind of this yet. Otherwise, do you
really think it'd just be Christine and my little sister showing up today?"
Uncle Jared tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He didn't want to respond to Ivette, but after a sigh, he
said. "It's Caleb's fault for causing trouble, and Yasmine didn't do anything wrong, | know Caleb is your nephew
too, but I'll talk to him."

Ivette nodded, feeling at ease now that Uncle Jared had promised to handle it. There was nothing left to worry
about.

In the Sanchez Group building, a woman in a dress entered the elevator unchallenged. It went straight up to the
thirty-fifth floor. She stepped out, used her fingerprint to unlock a door, and walked into an office, "Hey Morgan."
Morgan turned to Yasmine, "Yasmine, what brings you here?"
"Can't | just check on you?" Yasmine glanced at the computer screen displaying stock data for the Sanchez
Group.
Morgan spoke with concern, "Yasmine, | know everything that happened yesterday. Did Aunt Ivette and Grandma
cover to stir things up today? Ignore them. If Caleb gives you trouble, I'll definitely make him pay as soon as
he's out."
"I'm okay, Morgan," Yasmine assured him, telling him all that had transpired. "But | need a favor from you."
"What do you need?" Morgan asked.
Yasmine leaned in, standing on her toes, and whispered something into his ear.
Morgan chuckled, "Yasmine, you're so smart."
"I'm counting on you, Morgan," Yasmine said with a radiant smile.
"Don't worry, | won't hold back," Morgan's eyes glinted with a touch of malice.

Lucy stepped inside the Paragon Hotel. The staff at the front desk knew she was Chuck's girlfriend, so they let
her pass without a word. Chuck had been mysteriously busy these past couple of days, not dropping by to see
her and just giving vague excuses over the phone. She couldn't imagine anything being more important than
seeing her, so she hurried over to figure out what Chuck was doing. But when she entered his office, she found
him dozing at his computer desk.
She intended to be quiet but ended up waking him. Chuck lifted his head, revealing the dark shadows under his
eyes to Lucy.
"Lucy, what brings you here?" Chuck inquired, looking surprised
"I miss you, and you don't even cto see me," Lucy complained. "What's keeping you so tied up lately?"
Chuck massaged his temples, "Lucy, it's something significant for Yonas. | can't explain right now, just trust me."
Lucy's expression relaxed a bit. "I'm not blaming you, but you should take it easy sometimes." She walked over
to Chuck and held his hand. Looking down, she asked curiously, "Chuck, where's your watch? You've had that
watch for ages." Chuck had mentioned before it was a gift from his father before he passed away.
Chuck looked serious. "I lost it, can't remember where." His eyes went cold but softened again when he looked at
Lucy.
Yoselin was at home, bored, flipping through an illustrated book when the housekeeper knocked at the door.
"Miss, the psychologist is here."
Yoselin sighed, feeling a bit helpless. "I don't need a psychologist I've got Yasmine as my therapist. | don't need
anyone else."
To cut down on his interactions with Yasmine, Grandpa hired a bunch of renowned psychologists. Many have
cby recently, but Yoselin either wouldn't meet them or sent them packing. 15:15 Wed, Nov 20 O

"Miss, Nathan insists that you meet this doctor," the housekeeper said with a sigh, looking quite resigned.
Yoselin thought for a moment, then slipped on her shoes and followed the housekeeper out of the room. SEND
