A girl sat upon a rock in front of a flowing river. Her eyes locked at the tip of the long stick in her hands. Attached to the top of this long stick was a very thin vine that dropped down into the water in front of her. Next to her, another girl sat below the rock, facing away from the river, picking the grass at the side as she weaved it into a circular shape. The sun's rays shined down through the breaks in the branches and leaves of the trees, causing spot light like spots on the ground. The gentle breeze caused the trees' leaves to flutter, and up in the sky, fluffy white clouds floated by, sometimes blocking the sun and casting a shadow over the land.
One thing Kana had to admit was that this world seemed very peaceful at first glance. She took in the beauty around her and truly felt at home. She was currently fishing for lunch so she could fill her belly. Since she was not going to rely on Ako on this journey in order to grow stronger faster, she had Ako get her own food while she scavenged for herself. She found some edible plants and fruits, so now she was just trying to get her ever so yummy meat. Now she would have already been eating if she went and hunted a rank one demonic beast or forest animal, but when she saw the river, she suddenly had the urge to eat fish.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThat urge grew stronger until she became stubborn and was unwilling to eat anything else. So now here she was, sitting upon a large rock chewing on a long piece of grass with a long stick in her hand, trying to catch a fish. The only thing was that she had been sitting here since lunchtime and still hadn't caught anything.
Kana pursed her lips, pulled her rod up, and brought the line in from the water. She looked at the juicy worm that was tied to the other end, wiggling around, and wondered why she wasn't able to catch anything. With a wrinkled brow and a hint of stubbornness in her eyes, she tossed the line back out.
As the day progressed, the sun in the sky also started to make its way across, heading towards the horizon to allow the night to take its place. By this time, Kana was already not in a good mood. All the worms she had used as bait kept drowning, and not a single bite could be seen on her fishing rod. "What the hell is this!? Are you telling me there isn't a single fish in this river!?"
Kana tossed her fishing rod on the ground, picked up a large rock, and tossed it into the river to vent her anger. But who would have thought that the river would yell at her? "Hey, stupid girl! What is the meaning of tossing such big rocks into the river!? Are you trying to kill my family!? Also, was it you who was sending those poor worms to their death!? Those little guys are always being tortured for no reason!"
Kana, who already had another rock in her hands, froze upon hearing the voice. She looked out over the water to see a huge thing floating at the water's surface. Her eyes were round, trying to figure out if she was seeing things or not, but the thing with the fishy body had a human face… Between being surprised and being reprimanded by this strange fish, Kana was truly at a loss for words.
"What are you too good to say you're sorry!? Figures. Just like every other cultivator who comes by, not a single one of you cares about the things in this river! But hey, this is my home, so I will not allow fools like you to ruin it! You almost destroyed my house just now with your damn rock! Apologize!" The human faced fish yelled out.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKana rubbed her nose and placed the rock in her hands down before bowing her head slightly. Saying: "I'm sorry…"
"Mmm… At least you know what it means to apologize. Just don't do it again!" The human faced fish yelled out and went to turn around only to be stopped by Kana.
"Ahh! Wait! Maybe you can help me. I am really craving some fish, which is why I was sitting here all day. Any chance you can help me with this?" Kana did not even realize how wrong her request was and sounded. She was literally asking a fish for some fish.
The human faced fish's face went black. It turned around and glared at Kana. "What kind of stupid questions are you asking me!? You want to eat my brethren? How would you like it if I ate your kids!?"
"This…" Kana blushed. When it came to meat, Kana became dumb. "Then can you point me in the direction of your enemies that are fishes? I can go fish over there… maybe… if it is okay with you."
The human faced fish sighed. "Wait here." The human faced fish suddenly ducked under water. Kana frowned, seeing this. She did hear it say wait here, but she did not know how long she would need to wait. But Kana decided to give it a bit before deciding to move elsewhere. Now that she talked with the human faced fish, she no longer wanted to fish in this area just in case she accidentally catches one of its kids. With nothing better to do, Kana gazed out over the water that was changing colors with the setting sun.
Not long later a splash was heard and a huge object came flying at Kana. But seeing this huge object, Kana's eyes turned into meat steaks because it was a huge fish with cow features! From the lake Kana could hear the human faced fish's voice calling out to her. "Here take this.. It just died so it is still good. Now we have sealed a deal, so do not throw any more rocks at my home!"
