They didn't stop, they never stopped, they kept moving forward and glancing around though sighting one was really hard now.
..Yeah, it was no joke, they had gone scarce.
Yes, it did take them minutes to see another grass cutter after they'd set eyes on one...but this was taking longer. But it wouldn't continue like this, it was just as Aiden said.
Aiden was the one that reassured Ava, and he was the one that set eyes on the next grass cutter. It was standing some meters away from them and eating grass.
The moment Aiden set eyes on it, he tapped Ava a little as she glanced at him 'cause she was in front of him now. Not only her, Oliver also glanced at him as well.
And after he got both eyes staring at him, he pointed to where the grass cutter was standing and uttered,
"There, a grass cutter".
Ava's eyes widened the moment she set eyes on the grass cutter. Then Oliver said to her,
"It's your turn, do a good job".
..But was she gonna do a good job? Well, let's wait and see.
She drew out an arrow from her quiver and placed it in her bow, then she targeted...and fired. Now, once it comes to hunting, Aiden and Oliver were better than Ava at it.
Yes, she was good as well, as she was hunting, she was improving. But she wasn't up to Aiden and Oliver's level. And Aiden wasn't up to Oliver's level.
She fired as the arrow was heading toward the grass cutter with speed. Now, two things were gonna go wrong. First of all, the grass cutter noticed that an arrow was heading toward it on time due to a sound that was made.
Secondly, even without that, the arrow wouldn't have penetrated the grass cutter's body even if it was standing in one spot. And why is that? Wrong targeting.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBut it was gonna be a close call though. The grass cutter had already discerned danger and was already running, its body had moved a little. Now, even if Ava had targeted well, due to the grass cutter's moving a little, the arrow wouldn't have penetrated its body to kill it.
And that's exactly what happened, the arrow moved past the grass cutter with speed. It wasn't even that much of a close call, there was some distance between the arrow and the grass cutter when it moved past.
And the moment that happened, the grass cutter took to its heels completely...it escaped death. Then Ava's voice resounded,
"Damn! What a miss, and it took us time to find this grass cutter. Look at how I missed".
"You can do better next time, we'd see another one". Oliver said patting Ava on the shoulder a little.
After that, they began walking forward again. Now, they sighted another grass cutter, and she didn't still do better, she missed again. Oliver was the one that saw it and directed her gaze to where it was standing.
And seeing this one didn't take as much time as it took them to see the first one when it was Ava's turn to hunt down a grass cutter.
After setting eyes on it, she drew out an arrow from her quiver with a determined expression on her face like it was a sure thing she was gonna hunt down the grass cutter.
..It was a close call though, the arrow almost penetrated the grass cutter's body but didn't.
And as usual, the grass cutter didn't waste time taking to its heels after its life wasn't cut short. Ava was very disappointed, she was like,
"I thought I had improved a lot when it comes to hunting down grass cutters, so why is this happening?".
"It does happen, the truth is, you aren't as good as me and Aiden. Do you believe that?". Oliver uttered to Ava.
Ava nodded her head a little while stating, "Yes, I believe it".
"So, things would be different for you. But normally, you should have succeeded in catching one on your second attempt, I don't know why that happened. But you'd definitely catch one, we wouldn't stop until you do so". Oliver said, he was so good at reassuring.
Ava just nodded her head a little as they began walking forward once again. Now, finding another grass cutter was hard, like, what is happening?
They easily found the second grass cutter Ava tried hunting down, now, finding another one suddenly became hard. Well, they'd have to keep searching.
Time was going, the more they were spending time here, the more time was going, the sky had already gotten dim a little. They needed to do fast and leave this place, complete evening mustn't meet them here.
They kept searching for grass cutters until they sighted another one, Ava was the one that saw it. She was the one that saw it and was the one that was gonna hunt it down...good for her.
She had already placed an arrow in her bow and targeted with a determined expression on her face. Then Oliver said to her,
"Take it easy, focus, and do a good job".
..And that's what she did, she had already targeted, what she did now was to focus more.
And after that has been done, she let go of the arrow. The arrow headed toward the grass cutter with speed, and before it could do anything, the arrow pierced its body. And Ava had to voice out,
"Yes! I did it, I finally did it".
..Her voice was audible, she was glad that she's finally caught a grass cutter.
After the arrow pierced the grass cutter's body, it didn't just stand there, it took to its heels. But as usual, it didn't go far, it ran for some seconds before stopping. And the three of them began running toward it.
They reached where it was lying as they were glancing at it currently, then Oliver's voice resounded,
"You did it, you finally did it".
A little smile appeared on Ava's face as she nodded her head a little. Then Aiden said to her,
"Pick up what you caught".
She picked up the grass cutter, drew out the arrow from its body, and dropped it into the sack bag as Aiden had already forwarded it by now. Then Oliver's voice resounded again,
"Three grass cutters have been caught now".
And after making that utterance, he glanced at the sky, and Aiden and Ava glanced at it as well. The sky had gotten dim a little, they noticed this.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"We shouldn't stay here for too long, now that three grass cutters have been caught, should we continue hunting or should we leave?". Oliver uttered once again.
"Let's continue, we shouldn't end the fun just like that. Let the hunt continue, there's still time, at least, the sky hasn't gotten too dim". Aiden retorted.
Oliver glanced at Ava and inquired, "What do you think? Should we leave or continue?".
"Let's continue, there's still time, it wouldn't be bad catching some more grass cutters so there'd be a lot of meat". Ava responded.
"You see". Aiden said glancing directly at Oliver.
"Okay, let's continue then".
After Oliver made that utterance, Aiden glanced at Ava and said while forwarding his hands a little...
"Now that you've been able to hunt down a grass cutter, hand the hunting tools over to me".
"And why should I do that?". Ava inquired.
"That's 'cause you've caught a grass cutter, it's my turn to hold the hunting tools now. I caught only one grass cutter before handing the equipment to you. Now, hand them over to me since you've caught a grass cutter as well". Aiden said.
"Can't I just hold them for a while? Do you have to collect them from me after I've hunted down a grass cutter as well? Can't you just leave them with me for some minutes more? Or maybe collect Oliver's own?".
Oliver's voice resounded at that moment, "That's a no-go area. Aiden, leave them with her for a while or maybe throughout this hunting. As you said, it doesn't have to be the cliche all the time".
Aiden glanced at Ava for some seconds, then he voiced out, "Okay, I'd leave them with you for a while, let the hunting continue".
Oliver placed his palm on Aiden's right shoulder and said, "Don't worry, as I promised, I'd be the one to hand my hunting tools over to her first when next we go hunting".
Aiden only nodded his head a little...then they began strolling forward once again going deeper into the forest. Now, as they walked, they conversed more.
Since they've been going deep into the forest, they didn't converse much like that, they were focused more on hunting. But now, as they walked, they conversed more. They discussed many topics as they walked, and they were still watching out for grass cutters at the same time.
..Now, Aiden was behind Oliver and Ava as they strolled, he wasn't with any hunting tools, so he had to stay behind them while conversing with them.
And you know what? He wanted to create a kind of nuisance...
