Chapter 1282 Drowning His Sorrows With Alcohol
Late that night, the villa was so quiet, it seemed to be empty. In his drunken state, Colton stumbled inside and
searched the wall for the light switch. "Huh? Why can't I find it?"
Scrunching his well-defined eyebrows, he kept moving his hand against the wall to search for the switch. When he
finally felt a small cube-like object, he sneered. The next moment, the lights were turned on, illuminating the villa's
living room. "Even the lights are acting against me."
Suddenly losing his balance, Colton stumbled and crawled toward the couch not far away from him. He heaved as
he stared spiritlessly at the chandelier above him.
Inside the innermost room on the second floor, Evelyn was startled awake. She heard noises coming from
downstairs and quickly put on her robe before slowly making her way downstairs with a club in her hands. It was

Evelyn moved lightly, afraid she would accidentally startle the burglar and make him act out.
When the familiar figure appeared before her, she stopped moving. Is that Colton? At that thought of that, her eyes
lit up as she tentatively asked, "Colton? Is that you?"
However, the man on the couch did not reply. Instead, she heard his even breathing.
Taking a deep breath, she tightened her grip on the club and moved forward. If that man was not Colton, she would
hit him with the club to buy some time so that she could call the police.
The hazy light from the chandelier above shone on the man's long, well-built body, seeming to encase it in a faint
golden light.
Upon seeing the familiar face before her, Evelyn took in a sharp breath. It was Colton, the man she could not stop
thinking about.
Placing the club gently to the side, she moved very gently, afraid she would wake Colton up. She did not know why
he suddenly came here, but her infatuation with him made her reach over. Just as she was about to touch his face,
the sleeping man suddenly opened his eyes.
"What are you doing?" He gave the woman a cold look and glanced at her hand. Then, he shot up and pushed the
woman to the side. His breath was mixed with the smell of alcohol.
Evelyn was slightly taken aback and retracted her hands. Then, she bowed her head and said nothing.
"Why are you here?" Colton felt his head pounding. He was more sober after the tiny nap, but the aftermath of it
was a head-splitting headache.
Evelyn parted her lips but dared not say anything reckless. It was rare for Colton to return here, and she was afraid
she might anger him with the wrong words. Suddenly, she curled her lips into a mocking smile as she realized how
humbled she had become.

When Colton did not get a reply from her after a while, he felt frustrated and pulled on his tie while breathing out.
Evelyn trembled as she quickly replied, "You arranged for me… to be here."
With a slight purse of his lips, Colton remembered that he did do that. This was where he and Nicole used to live,
and when he found out Nicole had gotten together with Zachary, he was so angry that he arranged for Evelyn to
stay there. He did not expect it had been this long since then.
When his gaze swept past Evelyn's belly, he frowned slightly. "Have you given birth already? Where is the child?"
Colton had no recollection of Evelyn giving birth.
Looking up in shock, Evelyn remembered that the butler said he would tell Colton she had given birth to her child,
but judging from Colton's reaction, he seemed to know nothing about that. That damned butler! Evelyn bit her lips,
silently remembering that grudge.
"Yes, I did." Evelyn nodded shyly while slowly rubbing her belly. She was smiling as though she was reminiscing the
memory of her giving birth.
