Chapter 808

Back at the hotel, Evelyn had just finished showering when she heard a knock at the door. She found it strange, so

she turned to the door and shouted, sounding puzzled, "Who's there?"

"It's me, Evelyn," Gabriel answered in a low voice.

When she heard him, she quickly threw on a loose-fitting shirt and scurried over to open the door.

When Gabriel saw her appearance, which clearly showed that she just came out of a shower, he looked away

slightly. Nevertheless, she was unaware of his hesitance and asked with a frown, "What's the matter, Gabriel?"

When he saw that she was only wearing a t-shirt that barely covered her bottom, he couldn't help but nag, "Dress

up properly before you answer the door."

She immediately became disgruntled at his lecture and groaned in a spoiled manner, "We're siblings. Furthermore,

this is how I've always dressed at home. So, what's the problem?"

Gabriel felt tongue-tied due to her retort and couldn't help but feel that he was being slightly over-sensitive as

resignation flashed across his face. "Although I'm your brother, men and women are different. Remember to dress

up decently before you open the door next time," he murmured.

Evelyn stared at him and muttered under her breath, "Okay." Then, she twirled around and started walking, saying,

"Come in. What's the matter?"

Gabriel paused for a second and gazed at her. Indeed, from her features, Evelyn looked nothing like Siobhan and

Jackson, but this veil had yet to be lifted as Jackson didn't plan to carry on with the investigation. Gabriel himself

also had no such thoughts.

"Don't create trouble for Nicole in the future anymore," he said composedly.

This statement from him instantly infuriated her, and she spun around abruptly with a piercing glare as she

snapped while she balled her fists in agitation, "Gabriel, why are you siding with Nicole? I am your sister!"

A complicated look flashed past his eyes, and after a few seconds, he forged on, "Evelyn, Colton doesn't like you but

Nicole. Besides, our family is now indebted to her because she donated her blood to Mom. So, you shouldn't be

mean to her no matter how you look at it."

A sigh escaped his lips right after he said that, and Evelyn became so enraged that she felt herself shaking from all

the bottled-up fury she was experiencing. She honestly couldn't understand why everyone was taking Nicole's side;

now, even her brother was doing the same!

"Gabriel! We can't be sure whether that b*tch carries any disease. People who are being kind without reason

definitely have an ulterior motive. We aren't related to her, so why did she agree to the blood transfusion? Maybe

she already knows she's sick and wants to harm Mom!" she snapped angrily.

"That's enough, Evelyn!" Gabriel couldn't help but refute her hotly when he heard such vicious words pouring out of

her mouth. He furrowed his brows as he continued, "There's no problem with Nicole's blood. It's Mom. She's too

weak and reacted poorly. That's why she has a fever."

Evelyn snorted in disgust and plopped onto the bed, grumbling, "Whatever. I don't believe that this woman is such a

kind person."

Gabriel looked away from the sight of Evelyn acting so spoiled and didn't know what to say. It seemed to him that

ever since Nicole appeared, Evelyn had become pettier and pettier.

"Nicole is Mom's savior. I'm not asking you to be nice to her, but at least you shouldn't act as you did today," he

said.

An aggrieved look gleamed in her eyes. I don't get it, she thought. Nicole merely donated blood to Mom. Why is

Gabriel acting so differently?

"Gabriel, I am your sister. You should stand on my side!" she whined in dismay.
