Chapter 377
Hearing that, Winnie stretched out her right hand. I get it. This is a watch for the blind.
“I bet it looks great,” she said with a smile.
“It does.” Xavier lowered his head and put the watch on her wrist. “No one can find another watch as
beautiful as this one in the whole world. Because of that, only this one fits you. All right, give it a try.”
“Mm.”
As she tried touching it, he guided her hand and explained, “Press here, and the dial will pop up.”
Nodding, she brushed her finger on the dial. “Eight o’clock is here, right?”
“Yep. You’re smart.”
Winnie raised her eyebrow. “This isn’t entirely made out of diamonds, is it?”
“It is because it looks better. If you’re too lazy to touch it, it’s fine too. I can be your watch, although I think
you’ll prefer the watch more.”
“That’s right. You know me so well. Using you as a clock would be a waste, after all.” At the thought of
something, she asked, “Did you plant a tracking device on me?”
Xavier scrunched up his brows slightly. “You don’t like it? Things are different right now. I think it’s better
if I plant one on you.”
Winnie nodded to express her understanding. “It’s not that I dislike it, considering my current
circumstances. I would’ve asked you to plant one if you didn’t.”
Feeling awful, Xavier hugged her and said, “The watch will also vibrate when the minute hand makes a
half and full rotation. It’s very gentle, so you can only feel it when wearing it.”

Lying her head in his embrace, Winnie nodded. “I can feel you’re feeling down again. Come on, let’s
leave the room. If you want a change in mood, I’ll meet Wilhelm myself later while you take care of your
business in the company. Just leave me be.”
“How can I leave you be?” This shouldn’t be happening to someone as independent as Winnie. I feel so
terrible when she proactively asked me to plant a tracking device on her. “I’m sorry that I let my bad
mood affect you. I’ll recollect myself as fast as I can. Now, let’s go get you cleaned up.”
Winnie allowed him to carry her to the bathroom.
They were done at around the same time as Wilhelm did.
After meeting with Winnie, Wilhelm went straight to the point, telling her he planned to take her back to
Yartran that day.
Winnie agreed because she didn’t want to stay blind any longer.
As long as there was a chance to restore her sight, she would seize it no matter how slim the possibility
of success was.
After a brief discussion, they decided to head to Yartran by plane at night.
However, as Xavier needed to visit his company first, Winnie asked Wilhelm to accompany her to visit
Jacinta at the psychiatric hospital.
Jacinta’s situation hadn’t gotten any better. Worried that Winnie’s mood would turn bad if she stayed
there too long, Wilhelm brought her to a nearby garden for a stroll.
The environment of the garden was very nice. Winnie felt serene as she listened to the chirping of the
birds and bugs as well as the sound of running water.
They sat on the grass and chatted.
“Is this incident affecting your relationship with Xavier? Why do I feel that the atmosphere between the
two of you is kinda weird?” Xavier asked.
“It does feel weird.” Winnie frowned. “It feels like he hasn’t made peace with the matter. I thought he was
feeling better now, but the truth is that he’s not. He’s exasperated, and he still can’t accept that I’m blind.
I’ve been doing my best to help him equip a more positive attitude, but I feel that the more he looks at
me, the more he pities me and blames himself for what happened. The more I try to stay strong, the
more awful he feels. I understand his feelings, but I’m worried he can’t forgive himself. I don’t know what
to do. Should I cry every day, waiting for him to comfort me? Will that make him feel better? I don’t want
to do that, nor can I.”
Wilhelm stroked her hair compassionately. “I understand his feelings, too, because I feel the same. In
any case, it’s also probably because he cares too much about you, so give him some time. You don’t
need to make any changes because of this. Just be yourself. He’s your soulmate, isn’t he? I believe he’ll
understand that this is the real you, that this is the kind of person you are.”
“Okay. I believe he’ll be able to let this go.”
That night, they boarded a plane to Yartran.
After that, Winnie began her search for a treatment.
The Speiser family used their influence to arrange several medical consultations for her, but none could
figure out an effective treatment.
A few doctors even almost damaged her eyes. Xavier was very tempted to kill them on the spot when it
happened.
However, the Speiser family didn’t give up. Wilhelm even planned to spend a fortune to hire the most
skilled ophthalmologists in the world for her.

However, Winnie rejected the offer because she started having random nosebleeds.
For the moment, she didn’t tell Xavier or Wilhelm about that. Instead, she secretly contacted Lisanne and
learned that the latter was experiencing the same symptoms.
Lisanne suggested Winnie return to Chanaea immediately to receive treatment since only they had
research data on the Alpha radioactive gas.
Winnie rejected Wilhelm’s kindness and returned to Chanaea with Xavier.
They left the country at the beginning of September. When they returned, it was already October.
Josiah picked up the couple at the airport with Louis.
Initially, he was beaming when he saw the couple approaching him.
However, upon noticing their expressions, he furrowed his eyebrows, especially when he realized the
two had slimmed down a lot.
Winnie smiled when she heard Josiah’s and Louis’ greetings, but Xavier remained exhausted.
It took only a glance at her face for Josiah to know something was wrong.
Unlike Xavier, who looked tired because of his worries and anxieties, she appeared drained due to
sickness.
However, Josiah didn’t point it out. He simply shared the major and interesting events that had taken
place in Avenport during the couple’s absence with them.
After they all got into the car, he asked Winnie, “Are you sick, Ms. Garland? Are you feeling unwell
anywhere? You look—”
She interrupted, “No, I’m just tired. It has been a rough month. For the first time, getting treatment feels
more tiring than getting sick.”
“I see.” Josiah glanced at her first before at Xavier. For some reason, I feel she’s lying to me.
