Chapter 1166
"He can visit Cooper, but he can't bring you along."
"Oh," Nia sighed disappointedly, "That’s too bad."
Then, she asked again, "Mommy, can I call Cooper?"
Meredith gave it a thought and answered, "why don’t you call Daddy instead? He can tell you Cooper's situation
too."
"Okay."
Nia ran to call Josiah, but Meredith stopped her and said, "Just make the call here. I want to know if Cooper had
dinner and what he had."
"Alright."
Nia called Josiah with her smartwatch, and his voice soon sounded. However, before Nia even said anything,
Meredith asked, "Is it convenient for you to talk now?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtJosiah smiled. "Edith, you know I'll always have time for you."
"I mean...is Miss Landers there?"
"She's not." Josiah knew that Meredith was worried that Ivy would hurt Cooper again, and he took the initiative to
comfort her, " Don't worry, I have talked to her and warned her."
"Since you had to warn her, the negotiation surely didn't go well," Meredith replied in dismay. Then, she glanced at
Nia and added, " By the way, Nia wants to talk to you."
"Okay," Josiah asked gently, "Nia, have you eaten?"
Nia said, "Yes. Daddy, have you and Cooper had dinner?" "I have already eaten."
"What about Cooper?"
"Cooper doesn't want to eat yet," Josiah informed.
When Meredith heard that Cooper did not want to eat, she quickly asked when she thought of his temperament,
"What do you mean? Cooper hasn't had his dinner yet? Isn't he hungry?"
"Maybe he ate too much of the lunch you prepared, so he's not feeling hungry yet."
"How's that possible? Nia ate as much as he did, but she was already hungry just now. Besides, it's almost eight
o'clock now."
Meredith thought and asked, "Why don't you ask Cooper if he wants to eat anything? I'll sneak some over and see if
it works."
"Edith, it's really fine," Josiah said, "he's just a child, and it's normal for kids to throw a fit. He'll eat when he's
hungry."
Meredith was at a loss for words.
"Josiah, Cooper is your son. Can you treat him gentler?"
"As you said, he's my son, and boys shouldn't be raised too gently, " Josiah commented disapprovingly, "Besides,
there are IV nutrition drips in the hospital, so he'll be fine."
Meredith knew she could not persuade him, so she had to compromise.
The following morning, Meredith sent Nia to her hobby class.
When she returned at noon to cook, Meredith could not help but recall the scene of the 'family of four' eating at the

Again, Meredith could not help but think, "Wouldn't it be great if Cooper was my son!"
Meredith shook her head and continued cooking.
Nia walked in, stood beside her, and said, "Mommy, I just called Daddy to ask what Cooper wants to eat, but Daddy
said he still refused to eat."
"What did you say? Cooper still doesn't want to eat?" Meredith was shocked. "So he hasn't eaten anything since
yesterday?"
Nia shook her head sadly. "I don't know."
Meredith gave it a thought and called Josiah, who was still evading the issue. Then, Meredith reminded, "Josiah, do
you think Cooper's not eating because he's too sad? After all, he just didn't talk or communicate before, but he
never skipped his meals."
Josiah thought about it and admitted, "Maybe."
"So we have to look at the root of the problem." Meredith continued asking, "Didn't Cooper always want you? Did
you spend time with him, coax him, or feed him yourself?"
"I've tried it all."
