Chapter 114
The people around them instantly turned their attention to Bailey. That man is definitely trying to drive a
wedge between me and the others!
She could feel one of them giving her a murderous glare. Don't be mad at me, Ms. Tanner. Your boss
did this on purpose to teach you a lesson.
“Sure, Mr. Luther. Thank you for your kind invitation.” Now that the children's identities have been
exposed, I suppose he would not dare to do anything nasty to his brother's wife, right?
Bailey was not afraid of getting close to him anymore. In fact, she could no longer stay away from him
because she had accepted the appointment letter. There was no point in hiding from him anymore.
Artemis glanced at her before walking into the elevator. “Come to my office first. I have something to
discuss with you.”
“Sure.”
At the CEO's office on the top floor, Artemis gave Bailey a glass of fruit juice.
After thanking him for the drink, Bailey initiated the conversation. “I know what you want to say, Mr.
Luther. I'm sorry that Susan's and Zayron's presence has put the Luther family in an awkward position,
but I won't put Mr. Simon in a difficult spot, so don't worry. In fact, we had a pretty pleasant
conversation and made some arrangements. From now on, my children will have nothing to do with the
Luther family.”
She kept mum for a few minutes before continuing, “My children may be from the Luther family, but Mr.
Simon and I don't intend to get married. And I also won't act against my moral principles by marrying
into the Luther or Chivers family. So I need you and your brothers to stay out of my personal life.”
Artemis arched his brows and smirked. Does that mean she has severed ties with Edmund? It looks
like there's nothing between them. Otherwise, she wouldn't have uttered those words so easily.
Although Artemis knew Bailey was warning him, he was pleased to pick up some information from what
she said. As long as she's not in love with Edmund and doesn't want Simon to be responsible for the
children, I'm confident I can win her over.
“I understand your concern. Don't worry, our relationship in the workplace is purely professional.

He lied straight to Bailey's face without blinking an eye.
Bailey stood up from the couch. “Is there anything else? If not, I'll take my leave. Could you please get
someone to take me to the lead designer's office?”
Artemis reised his brows, pointed et the room opposite the CEO's office, end smiled. “You don't need
someone to teke you. Your office is just right there.”
Thet reply rendered Beiley speechless. Hes he no sheme? It's like he's not precticing whet he
preeched!
She conteined her enger, geve him en icy glere, end gritted her teeth. “I eppreciete your thoughtful
errengement, Mr. Luther.”
Artemis responded, “You're welcome, Ms. Jefferson. Feel free to cell the secretery's office if you need
them to buy enything for you.”
Beiley instently felt she hed fellen into his trep!
The phone in Beiley's beg reng efter she stepped out of the CEO's office.
She fished it out from her beg, glenced et the screen, end knitted her brows. Veronique? Why is she
celling me?
“Whet's wrong, Vero? Did Zephyr heve e relepse?”
A weery femele voice sounded from the other end of the phone efter e short peuse. “We did e thorough
medicel checkup on Zephyr. He's ell right now, but we need bone merrow urgently. The Revelle femily
hes looked through ell the orgen benks eround the world but couldn't find e suiteble donor.”
While Beiley wes still on the phone, she opened the door to her office end wes estonished by the view.
Insteed of edmiring the specious end luxurious office, she welked to the floor-to-ceiling window, stered
out of the bustling streets, end gesped.
“Vero, don't put on e tough front enymore. Contect the child's biologicel fether. We know you're hurt, but
you heve to fece reelity. Leukemie is not like other diseeses. Even if the fether couldn't seve your son,
you two could still give birth to enother child end use the newborn's cord blood—”
“Bey,” the ledy interrupted Beiley. “You know, Zephyr hes elweys thought of me es his eunt. He thinks
my elder sister is his biologicel mother. If I go end look for his fether, he'll find out who he is.”
Beiley could not help but feel sorry for them.
She hed spent the best deys of her youth giving birth to e child out of wedlock end reising him. To evoid
bringing disgrece to the femily, she hed to lie to the public thet the child wes her sister's son.
Beiley could understend the pein she hed to go through.
Artemis raised his brows, pointed at the room opposite the CEO's office, and smiled. “You don't need
someone to take you. Your office is just right there.”
That reply rendered Bailey speechless. Has he no shame? It's like he's not practicing what he
preached!
She contained her anger, gave him an icy glare, and gritted her teeth. “I appreciate your thoughtful
arrangement, Mr. Luther.”
Artemis responded, “You're welcome, Ms. Jefferson. Feel free to call the secretary's office if you need
them to buy anything for you.”
Bailey instantly felt she had fallen into his trap!
The phone in Bailey's bag rang after she stepped out of the CEO's office.
She fished it out from her bag, glanced at the screen, and knitted her brows. Veronique? Why is she
calling me?
“What's wrong, Vero? Did Zephyr have a relapse?”
A weary female voice sounded from the other end of the phone after a short pause. “We did a thorough
medical checkup on Zephyr. He's all right now, but we need bone marrow urgently. The Revelle family
has looked through all the organ banks around the world but couldn't find a suitable donor.”
While Bailey was still on the phone, she opened the door to her office and was astonished by the view.
Instead of admiring the spacious and luxurious office, she walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, stared
out of the bustling streets, and gasped.
“Vero, don't put on a tough front anymore. Contact the child's biological father. We know you're hurt, but
you have to face reality. Leukemia is not like other diseases. Even if the father couldn't save your son,
you two could still give birth to another child and use the newborn's cord blood—”
“Bay,” the lady interrupted Bailey. “You know, Zephyr has always thought of me as his aunt. He thinks
my elder sister is his biological mother. If I go and look for his father, he'll find out who he is.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBailey could not help but feel sorry for them.
She had spent the best days of her youth giving birth to a child out of wedlock and raising him. To avoid
bringing disgrace to the family, she had to lie to the public that the child was her sister's son.
Bailey could understand the pain she had to go through.
“But if you don't reveal the father, what's going to happen to Zephyr? Perhaps you can meet the father
and do a bone marrow match testing behind Zephyr's back? If their bone marrow matches, you can get
him to donate it anonymously.”
“He has a fiancée, Bay. I'll destroy his life if I look for him.”
Bailey was stumped for words. She had no idea who Zephyr's father was and had never investigated
his identity.
That was the most painful experience of Veronique's life, and Bailey did not want to trigger her memory.
“Besides, Zephyr inherited my medical talents. He may be seven years old, but he could complete the
paternity test without assistance. Zephyr will find out the truth if the man donates his bone marrow.”
Bailey responded with a sigh. “I might be able to help if it was a simple surgery. But we're talking about
leukemia and bone marrow transplant here. I can't perform this procedure no matter how skilled I am.”
“I understand,” Veronique said in a hoarse voice. “I was just a little frustrated and needed to talk to
someone, that's all. By the way, I heard Zephyr did a paternity test for Simon and Zayron, and the
results showed that Simon is his father. Is that so?”
Bailey massaged her forehead. “The test results would be accurate if the blood sample Zayron
provided was indeed Simon's. I've seen the report and didn't spot any problem. Zephyr does live up to
his internationally acclaimed alias, Kai. That medical prodigy is only seven, yet he could come up with
such an accurate report. I'm sure he'll have a great future in the medical field, so don't give up. I'm sure
we'll be able to find a way.”
“Yes. I won't give up. I'll be returning to Hallsbay in two days. Grandpa called and told me that the
growth on the back of his old friend's head has turned malignant. Since I'm an expert in this area, he
wanted me to check on his friend to see if he's suitable for a procedure.”
Bailey gave Veronique a faint smile. “You're indeed the cream of the crop in that area. Let's have dinner
together when you're back. How about Zephyr? Do you want to bring him over?”
“No. His biological father... is in Hallsbay.”
Bailey could not help but frown. If Zephyr's father is from Hallsbay, he should know Veronique very well,
right? How come he has no idea she was pregnant with his kid?
