Chapter 151
Larissa could faintly hear the voice of a young man comforting Lana on the other end of the call “Don’t
cry. Miss,” he said. The man did not sound like Lucas.
So. Larissa asked, “Where’s Lucas? Isn’t he with you?”
“Don’t mention him” Lana Involuntarily raised her voice the moment Larissa mentioned him as if she
had had enough of him.
“Larissa, please, come and pick me up! It’s so cold outside. I feel terrible Lana’s lone solened in the
end. She sounded pitiful with all her sniffing and sobbing.
Larissa did not feel like picking Lana up. After all, she had just been scolded by Lucas, and taking Lana
in right now would only create more trouble for hersell However, considering Lana’s current condition, it
was not suitable for her to go back alone. So, Larissa relented. She hurriedly rushed to the door but did
not see anyone. She thought Lana had left on her own, but when she turned around, she saw two

The young security guard timidly handed a paper napkin to Lana. His mouth opened and closed as he
said something to her. Lana wiped her tears, forced a dry smile, and seemingly said. “Thank you.” This
treatment was even better than what Amber had received.
The door and windows of the security booth were shut. Larissa walked over and lightly tapped on the
window. The two glanced up and saw Larissa. Lana said something to the security guard, who looked
visibly relaxed and stood up to help her open the door. Lana immediately ran and threw herself into
Larissa’s embrace.
“Larissa! I’m breaking up with Lucas! Lana declared angrily as she continued to sob.
Yet Larissa knew that whatever girls said when they were outraged could not be taken seriously.
Hence, she did not take Lana’s words to heart but gently patted her sister’s back as she comforted her,
saying. “Alright alright. Don’t be mad anymore. He’s not worth your tears.”
The security guard then came out with two large suitcases in his hands.
“These belong to this young lady,” he said but hesitated to come closer to the two sisters
Larissa smiled and thanked him, saying. “Thank you.” She then turned to Lana and said, “It’s too cold
outside. Let’s go back first.”
Only then did Lana eventually stop crying.
Larissa told Lana to sit on the couch for a while as she went she went to the kitchen to get Lana a cup
of hot tea
“Here, warm your hands up a little,” Larissa said. It had been a windy night, and Lana’s hands were
completely frozen. She didn’t know how long she’d been waiting for Larissa in the cold.
Lana continued to sob. Her body trembled uncontrollably. It was only after a while that she managed to
say, “I want to stay in Covenford.”
“Hmm?” Larissa felt a growing sense of unease. “But don’t you have a job in Bartham? Why do you
want to stay here?
“Well Mom and Dad were the ones who had arranged that job for me in Bartham at our family

for almost two years, but I feel like I haven’t learned anything.” Lana explained. her emotions sinking to
a new low. She continued, “I think it’s because everyone sheltered me too much. In their eyes. I’m still
a child who hasn’t grown up. They don’t allow me to do anything even remotely risky–just look at how
Lucas went nuts, yelling at you like that because I went to the bar..”
Lana’s complaints struck a nerve with Larissa. Little did Lana know that what she despised and wanted
to discard was precisely what Larissa had yearned for all these years.
“But Lucas cares about you too,” Larissa interrupted as she set aside her previous grievances with him.
“After all something really happened to you at the bar.”
Lana lowered her head and fell silent for a while. Eventually, she said with determination, “Regardless,
I’ve made up my mind to stay and find a job here. I don’t want to live as a useless person anymore, I
want to be independent, just like you.”
