Chapter 369
The cat had been with Larissa for over a month without any issues. However, it relumed with a broken
leg after spending only two days with Ruby, Larissa couldn’t believe that this had nothing to do with
Ruby at all.
Kevan was also clueless. As he saw Larissa’s accusing gaze, he felt both sad and slightly angry, Alter
all Larissa thought that he and Ruby were on the same side. Did she really think he was responsible for
all of Ruby’s wrongdoings?
“Quit looking at me like that,” he said coldly. “I will ask Ruby about the cat and make sure to give you a
satisfactory answer.”
Larissa clenched her lists. “I hope so.”
The doctor reattached M uffin’s leg but didn’t allow her to go home. “Let’s keep her here for observation
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtfor a while. If the owners can’t take care of her properly at home, the leg might break again,” he said,
glancing at Larissa’s still-casted injured leg. “I’m sure you understand
this very well,”
She couldn’t bear to leave M uffin behind, so she stayed with Mullin at the hospital for a while before
leaving the hospital with Kevan and Dylan. Neither she nor Kevan spoke, and the atmosphere in the
car was particularly awkward.
Dylan tried to console her, saying, “The doctor said Mullin’s condition isn’t severe. Don’t worry too
much.”
Well she wasn’t particularly worried about her cat. Instead, she just couldn’t contain her anger.
Once they returned home, Kevan immediately dialed Ruby’s number in front of Larissa.
“Kevan.” Ruby’s sweet voice came through, but Kevan interrupted her, asking, “Mullin’s leg is broken.
Do you know what happened?”
His abrupt question caught Ruby off guard. After a brief pause, she pretended to panic and asked.
“What? Her leg is broken? I didn’t know about that! Which leg is it? Is it serious?”
“The right hind leg, and it’s quite serious,” he replied.
Ruby thought for a moment and said. “Maybe it happened when she jumped off the windowsill in my
room yesterday… I didn’t see her for a whole night. So, I wasn’t aware that she had injured her leg.”
Larissa couldn’t help but yell “That’s impossible! You must have done something to her!”
Larissa had a good guess about how high the windowsill in Ruby’s room was. M uffin had jumped from
even higher places in their own home before, and she was always fine. So, did this mean that Ruby’s
floor happened to be harder than theirs?
Ruby paused upon hearing Larissa’s voice and then took on a guilty tone as she responded, “I’m sorry,
Larissa. I feel terrible about your cat’s injury. I know you’re upset and angry right now, and if blaming
me can make you feel better, I’m willing to accept your baseless accusations.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHer attempt to shift the blame infuriated Larissa. Kevan also defended Ruby, saying, “Larissa, let’s not
make unfounded claims, Ruby loves
M uffin and wouldn’t intentionally harm her.”
The way both of them were supporting each other only made Larissa laugh in anger.
“She loves Mullin? Fine, let’s say Mullin really did break her leg after Jumping from the windowsill. She
didn’t notice it for a whole day, and she didn’t rush Mullin to the hospital in time. Is that what you call
love? Kevan, remember how you scolded me when we discovered
Cookie was sick last night!
Kevan recalled his own misdeeds from the previous night after being reminded by her. He knew that
Larissa would despise him even more if he continued to lie or deliberately protect Ruby in this situation.
So, he simply remained silent and didn’t uller another word.
