In a big office, a young woman wearing a neat uniform could be seen leaning over a large stash of forms.

She sighed heavily at the sight of the paper stash and shook her head lightly. Her long ponytail waved from left to right due to her sudden movement as the crystal lying to her right began to vibrate.

"Hm? It's not yet time to report the progress of the teleportation circle to the Cavern Tower of the Casilian. Why are these oldies bothering me again?" She, Legatus Sarah, mumbled with a tinge of frustration visible on her face.

Sarah cleared her throat, put the paper stash aside, and moved the messenger crystal to the table in front of her. She pressed on the right side of the messenger crystal and waited before a large holographic screen appeared in front of her.

More than ten men and women wearing similar uniforms to her appeared on the holographic screen that showed the leaders of the Cadet Camps. These old militaries loved to call themself leaders even though Sarah couldn't really understand their reasoning.

Their ranking in the three big legions was already high enough, which was why Sarah was having a hard time comprehending the mindset of those oldies.

Was it some sort of fetish that made them feel greater in the face of the young cadets, or were they just happy to be the cause of the cadets' despair?

Sarah gave it a shrug in her mind before she pushed her right hand against the left side of her chest.

"Greetings to Seniors!" She said shortly, not really feeling like going out of her way to talk too much nonsense.

It was normal for the younger generation to pay respect to their seniors and elders. Under normal circumstances, it was best to sugar-coat their words and go out of their way by offering to help everyone whenever possible. However, Sarah was too busy for that nonsense.

She had to fill out too many forms in an attempt to justify accepting Zayn into the Silverflame Camp as a latecomer.

[Sarah, I heard that you accepted a new cadet into the Silverflame Camp. Is that true?] One of the oldest people asked through the holographic screen.

'Not even 'Legatus'? You old basta–...Wait…How does he know that I've accepted Zayn? They're not calling me for this, right?'

[I have also heard about this presumptuous rumor, and I hope that this is not true, otherwise, Legatus, you might have to face the consequences for your actions!]

This time it was a woman speaking. Sarah was trying hard to control her facial expression, but it required way too much willpower.

It looked like these oldies actually used the messenger crystal to speak about something as mundane as her acceptance of a latecomer into the camp.

"It is correct that I accepted a new cadet into the Silverflame Camp. He is only 14 years old and already a Mid-level Soul Knight. His combat strength is even higher, allowing him to kill Trolls who were about to become Soul Lords. Accepting him as a Cadet of the Silverflame Camp was only natural after he protected some other cadets. It would have been a waste for the entire human race not to accept him, and I'm not willing to waste such a talent, just because the rules say that everything has to follow the protocols!"

As the youngest Legatus in the three big legions, Sarah was often not taken seriously. Her actions were watched vigilantly and the oldies loved to pick on her. If possible, they wanted to get rid of her because Sarah was more than willing to bend the Legions' rules and break them as long as it was necessary.

The conservative oldies didn't like this, at all, and it increased the hatred they felt toward her as the adoptive daughter of the Silverheart Legion's Commander and Vice-Commander.

The higher authorities of the Silverheart Legion were also finding fault at her for their disappearance five years ago. They had disappeared for a total of four years, leaving the position of the Commander, Vice-Commander and Assassin Legatus open.

It was not easy to replace these positions, especially the Commander and Vice-Commander spot. Only Alexander and Nicole Fall had full access to the secrets of the Silverheart Legion, and none of them had been given the 'opportunity' to replace them. After all, the heirloom of the Silverheart Legion didn't acknowledge anyone else other than the Fall couple.

[Does that mean you acknowledge that you broke the Sacred Rules of the Cadet Camp just to accept a Normie into the Silverflame Camp? If it were a powerful Blessed with exceptional potential, I might even reconsider that you did the right thing…but a Normie? It is already a felony to accept the existence of Normies, in the first place, yet you went out of your own way to break our sacred rules to invite one of them into our holy camps? You really are a disgrace to the Silverheart Legion.

No wonder that your parents—...]

[I think this is enough Yvan. If you say one more word, I might come over and cut off your other ear as well!]

A new face appeared in the holographic screen. It was none other than the Commander of the Silverheart Legion, Alexander Fall, also known as Sarah's father, and the Owner of the Adventurer Inn.

Sarah was not actually his daughter when it comes to blood ties, but that had never mattered to Alexander or his wife. They loved Sarah as if she was actually their daughter, which she was in their opinion, no matter what others said.

Thus, when Alexander heard what the higher authorities had planned to teach him, Nicole, and their daughter a lesson for disappearing for several years, he immediately came to her rescue.

The term teaching a lesson might be a little too much, but the higher authorities chose to make their life a little bit more difficult whenever the opportunity was to arise.

It was petty, but that was not something the higher authorities could be bothered about.

They were petty, so what?!

[I apologize for my outburst, Commander. I was just too agitated about the actions of the Legatus that I threw a fit. I doubt that your 'daughter' will take it to heart, right?] The old man, Yvan, apologized, though it didn't sound sincere at all.

Alexander Fall heard about the circumstances of the given situation not too long ago. He was not sure what his daughter had thought when she invited someone into the Silverflame Camp, especially now that everyone was trying to find fault in every action.

However, he believed that his daughter had her reasoning and that she wouldn't do something that could harm her lightheartedly.

There had to be a reason for her action, and he wanted to find out what was going on.

"If there is nothing more, I would like to talk with the Commander, alone. There is something I have to tell him." Sarah said, while trying her utmost to control her emotions.

She hated these oldies who were always trying to turn her into the feeble and incompetent orphan who was supposed to have died on the streets.

It was not her fault to be born as the child of two Normies, let alone that these Normies had been bad people. Alexander Fall, the Commander of the Silverheart Legion apprehended her parents. Maybe, Sarah should hate him for that, but she never actually did.

On the contrary, Sarah was thankful. Alexander rescued her from the pit of hell. He took responsibility for his actions, took her in, and raised her, even though her parents had been the worst of the worst.

Others would have killed her as well, just to make sure that she wouldn't follow the path of her parents. However, both Alexander Fall and Nicole Fall never thought about doing something like this.

Sarah had been an innocent child, and she didn't deserve to be treated like trash just because her parents were murderers without any mercy.

Sarah had been suffered the most, she was also a victim!

[I need to speak with the Legatus as well. If there is nothing else on the agenda today, we should the next meetings when they're scheduled, and not unannounced like today. This can also be considered as breaking the sacred rules. After all, we're using the emergency messenger crystals right now, am I right?] Alexander said calmly, only for his last words to sound eerily cold.

If the other oldies were to push only a little further, Alexander would probably go all-out in order to search them, uncover their dirty secrets and expose everything, destroying their futures without any qualms.

[Indeed. I am a little busy. We should end this meeting now.] The first old man said, ending the call only seconds later.

He knew the wrath of the old commander, and he was not willing to take this any further. They might have already crossed a line that should have never been crossed in the first place.

[I will have to leave as well. Until the next meeting]

[Me too]

[I couldn't agree more.]

[...]

Just like this, the emergency meeting ended. Only the Commander of the Silverheart Legion and the youngest Legatus were left behind.

[My lovely daughter. Who made you break the rules this time?]
