James asked, “Are you here on Xachary's behalf?"
Lyla sighed softly, "He's stronger than Timaeus Sect's Leader, Xachary, now. He's probably trying to win us over to help him
overthrow Xachary.
James immediately looked sat Lyla and said, "Win us over? If he has enough to offer, why not?"
Lyla was speechless. After a while, she said, "The Timaeus Sect is not like it used to be. Now that Xachary has dropped to the
Yuraeceon Daelm Rank's Ninth Tribulation, chaos will break out pretty soon."
James exclaimed, "Wait a minute. What did you just say? How is he still the sect leader when his cultivation rank dropped?"
This time, James did not communicate telepathically. Instead, he said it out loud for Gladwin to hear as well.
Before Lyla could answer, Gladwin smiled and said arrogantly, "You're right. The Timaeus Sect's Leader must be at the Quasi
Daelcon Rank. Now that his cultivation rank has dropped, he should surrender his position.
"Moreover, he schemed to have you enter the Forladtt Land and seal you away to be killed by the Galeat Wind so you can never
reincarnate. It was a cruel and vicious plan."
James looked at Gladwin and said, "Weren't you also part of it, older man? You sent us into the Forladtt Land."
Gladwin said slowly, "That's right. However, I was deceived by Xachary. He believed you were from the Dark World and had to
be eliminated.
"Although I'm the Timaeus Sect's Great Protector, my position is below him. Thus, I could only obey his orders."
Gladwin looked at Lyla, sitting beside James, and said, "Didn't he also deceive you? He asked you to select a few powerhouses
at the Yuraeceon Daelm Rank to enter the Forladtt Land, then ordered you to kill Forty-nine. Fortunately, he was strong enough
and had encountered great boons. Otherwise, the consequences would've been unpredictable."
Lyla looked at Gladwin and said coldly, "You don't have to waste time trying to win me over. You two are birds of the same
feather."

Gladwin replied calmly, "I know you're disappointed in Xachary, and it made you disgusted with the Timaeus Sect. However,
there's a secret I'd like to tell you."

James and Lyla exchanged glances without saying a word.
Gladwin sighed, “Do you remember Goldwein City? Xachary told you that a group of Dark Beings from the Dark World
massacred everyone in the city, and you were the only one that survived. He said your whole family died at the hands of Dark
Beings. He couldn't bear to see you freeze and starve to death, so he brought you back to the Timaeus Sect. He repeatedly
claimed he was the reason for your success, right?"
Lyla looked at him and said indifferently, "Stop beating around the bush."
Gladwin said solemnly, "Dark Beings didn't massacre the city. The main perpetrator was Xachary."
Lyla immediately stood up and shouted, "Do you have proof?"
"Are you familiar with this?" Gladwin raised his hand, and a round jade pendant appeared.
Lyla's eyes widened after she saw the pattern carved onto the jade pendant. In disbelief, she said, "That's my family's heirloom,
the Taen Pendant."
Gladwin nodded, saying, "Your whole family and citizens died because of this pendant. All because there is a trace of Historial
Power within it."
Lyla was aghast by the information.
James frowned and asked, "So, to obtain the Historial Power within it, he killed an entire city?"
Gladwin nodded, saying, "It was a massive city with millions of citizens. Your father was Goldwein City's Lord. However, the city's
overall cultivation rank was too low, and they were located at the edge of a Micro Genesis World."

James looked at Lyla and asked, "For the sake of some Historial Power, he took millions of lives. Is that what someone righteous
would do?"
Lyla glared at Gladwin and said, "Give it back!"
Gladwin smiled faintly, then waved his hand, allowing the jade pendant to float toward the colorful lights.
James reached into the barrier, took the jade pendant and examined it.
The jade pendant was beautiful, and its pattern was extremely eye-catching. Moreover, he could sense the majestic Historial

Power contained within it.
James raised his head and met with Lyla's gaze. Seeing her expression, he quickly handed it over.
Lyla took the pendant, held it like a treasure and gently wiped it. While looking at it, her eyes became teary.
Gladwin sighed, "It's unfortunate you've been used by the person who destroyed your family. Xachary pretends to be kind but is,
in fact, a sinister and cunning person. He's not worthy of being the Timaeus Sect's Leader."
Lyla ignored him and continued scrutinizing the jade pendant in her hand. Gradually, tears rolled down her beautiful face.
James watched silently, unsure of how to comfort her. After all, the jade pendant being here meant Xachary did indeed murder
her entire family and exploit her. It was a horrible humiliation.
Gladwin looked at James and said," Forty-nine."
James replied playfully, "Yeah? I'm listening. Do I have some sort of enemy that killed my family as well?"
“No, no. Of course not." Gladwin shook his head and said smilingly, “However, the grievances between you and Xachary are
worse. He wanted you to die in the Forladtt Land. Don't you want revenge?"
James shook his head and said firmly, “Nope! I'd actually like to thank him."
Gladwin was at a loss after James refused to play along to his tune. He smiled and said again, “Don't you want to return to the
Timaeus Sect? The Saintess that you care about the most is still there."
James squinted when he heard his words. If there was anyone he cared about in the Timaeus Sect, it was the Light Heavenly
Path.
Although she was not his wife, she was still equivalent to a clone of Thea.
After spending time together in the past few years, he did feel attached to her. More importantly, he could not help Thea in the
future without the Light Heavenly Path.
James stared at Gladwin and asked, “Let's negotiate. What are the benefits of me returning to the Timaeus Sect?"
