517 “Did you threaten Han Han?”
The equipment doors opened with a soft swoosh and his father turned around. Yi Zhen’s eyes widened in surprise before he hurried over to catch him.
After days of laying stiffly in one position his son wouldn’t be able to walk properly thus he rushed over to help him.
“Careful,” he said but his son’s response was,
“Where is Han Han?”
By god, wouldn’t it be nice if he said hie first.
Yi Zhen looked at him with slight disappointment before saying, “He is on the Han... wait where are you going?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe asked this right after his son pushed him away before walking away. His steps staggered though before he fell down taking the things on the desk down with him.
Yi Zhen caught him in time while reprimanding, “You just suffered through a complicated treatment and your brain is still foggy. You will need to lie down for a couple of hours before you go running around.”
Yi Zhen helped him onto the patient bed while scolding incessantly. “Don’t you have anyone else in your eyes apart from that boy? Do you still have your mother and siblings in your eyes? We also worry about you.”
.....
As he said this Yi Chen remained silent while gently pressing his temple that was throbbing slightly.
“I will call the doctor for you so stay put,” said Yi Zhen while turning away from his son.
Yi Chen touched his wrist intending to use his light brain. He wanted to send Zi Han a message and let him know that he was awake but there was nothing on his wrist. He stared at his father who was still talking to doctor Kiet as he subconsciously touched his ring finger to twist his ring. This was like a unconscious habit he did whenever he was thinking of his beloved but when he touched it he found that there was no ring on that finger.
He suddenly panicked and wanted to get up and look for it but memories of what happened in the Republic resurfaced. His chest tightened and he rubbed it while leaning back.
That’s because he remembered how Zi Han cried when he confronted him about it. He suddenly had the urge to get up again and leave Cetus warship.
Just when he was about to get up his father returned and told him to stay put. While waiting for doctor Kiet, Yi Zhen dragged the bar stool over and sat at his bedside.
After a short silence, he asked, “Do you remember everything?”
Yi Chen who was staring blankly at the ceiling replied, “Yes,” before his adam’s apple rolled.
“Everything even the Republic?” asked Yi Zhen not knowing how to break the ice.
“Yes,” replied Yi Chen his voice as bland as unseasoned plane boiled chicken breast.
This was how the two of them always talked but he didn’t have a problem with it before. He was fine with it before but now he couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable like there was a great rift between them.
One has to understand that he personally raised Yi Chen and his wife raised Yi Youxi and Yi Mingxi thus the boy was the closest offspring he had. He spent more time with Yi Chen than any of his other children thus they should be close but what he thought was closeness before turns out it wasn’t. It was just his son following orders nothing more.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe wanted to fix things but how to begin? He opened his mouth to say something when Yi Chen suddenly opened his mouth first.
“Did you threaten Han Han?” he asked but he already knew the answer. He wanted to hear it coming straight from the horse’s mouth.
“I...,” said Yi Zhen the emotions in his eyes complicated. He couldn’t say it was all for you own good because he had also put other people’s children in harms way. He also knew now that Zi Han would have willingly jumped into the fire pit with no hesitation but at the time he was afraid Zi Han would throw in his face the words he said to him when he forced them to separate.
What right did he have as the party who broke them up to come and beg for help? If it was him he would have thrown a fit and walked away so yes at the time he threatened Zi Han. He was afraid he would refuse to help him get his son back. This is why he couldn’t even defend himself now.
“Do you have nothing to say? Haven’t you done enough? Hasn’t he suffered enough?” said Yi Chen each question stabbing into his father’s heart.
Yi Chen rubbed his throbbing temples with his thumb and fore finger his chest rising and falling rapidly. It was obvious that he was very angry.
“I was wro-,” he said and Yi Chen interjected,
“Yes you were wrong and you almost cost me my future happiness. Can’t you just be happy for me.l? You and mom are happy so why can’t I? He loves me and I love him too, isn’t that enough for you?”
“Chen Chen I so-,” said Yi Zhen reaching out to hold his son’s arm but Yi Chen pushed his hand away while interjecting again,
“No no I don’t want to hear it. The person you should be asking for forgiveness from is not me but him. If he breaks up with me again because of you you should forget that you had two sons. You will only have one son from then on.”
Yi Zhen who hadn’t heard his son say so many words in a long time suddenly felt very guilty. He had never been scolded by his son like this before thus he was at a loss.
Lucky for him Doctor Kiet walked in with his tail Yi Feng running behind so the endless scolding ended but he didn’t feel good in his heart. He stood aside as doctor Kiet examined his son who showed a slight smile when he saw Yi Feng. The cousin would get a smile but the father would get an earful. He had to fix this but how to fix it? He could only call his wife and beg for help.
