Chapter 205 Cold and Distant
At their home in Northern No. 1, Amanda and Aiden were having their meal around the
table. The young boy was pigging out on the food as he found it delicious.
On the other hand, Amanda didn’t have much appetite. Her mind was occupied by the
accusations of Jennifer and Oscar.
It was just then that Selina came over with a bowl of pumpkin soup. “Hurry up and eat it.
The food won’t be as delicious when it’s not warm.”
“Alright.” Amanda forced a smile and started having her food.
The doorbell rang just then, so Selina took off her apron and said, “Go on having your
food. I’ll answer the door.”
Then, she shuffled toward the door. When she registered Elias’ presence through the
monitor, she was surprised.
She turned to look at Amanda and whispered, “It’s your ex-husband. Do you want to open
the door?” Perhaps Amanda doesn’t want to see him now.
Amanda froze for a moment before replying, “Yes, please do.”
Upon hearing that, Aiden stopped having his food and looked awkwardly at Amanda
before saying, “Mommy, I need to use the bathroom.”
“Go ahead.”
Aiden put down his spoon and leaped away from the chair before running toward the
bathroom. It wasn’t certain if he was trying to avoid seeing Elias and really needed to use
the bathroom.
Selina opened the door and saw Elias standing outside. His black suit made him look
gloomy.

The atmosphere between them turned awkward. Selina had no idea what to do and had
the urge to go somewhere else and hide.
The man sat down on the couch and remained silent, seemingly waiting for the young boy
to come out of the bathroom.
In turn, Amanda sat down beside him and said nothing. The air seemed to have solidified.
A long time later, she asked, “Did you have your dinner? Why don’t you eat with us? It
might take Aiden some time.
You know, he’s always dilly-dallying.”
“There’s no need for that. I’m not hungry. I’m only here to see Aiden.”
Meanwhile, Aiden refused to leave the bathroom. No one knew what he was doing inside.
The man’s phone kept vibrating the entire time. Since the living room was so quiet,
Amanda could hear it clearly.
Ten minutes later, the young boy still didn’t leave the bathroom. Elias frowned with
displeasure and took a look at his wristwatch before asking grimly, “Are you sure he’s in
the bathroom? It’s taking too long.”
Indeed, Aiden had been staying in the bathroom for far too long as 30 minutes had
passed. “I’ll go and see what he’s doing. He’s been staying inside the bathroom for too
long.” Amanda announced.
She rose from the couch and headed to the bathroom while the man followed her. His
towering figure was in stark contrast to how petite the woman looked.
Outside the bathroom, Amanda knocked on the door. “What are you doing inside, Aiden?
Mr. Winters… Your dad is waiting for you.
Elias furrowed his brows, realizing that something was amiss.
It seemed that the young boy didn’t want to see him, which was why he was trying to
avoid him. Elias hoped he was just overthinking things. Regardless of how hard Amanda
knocked on the door, Aiden, refused to open it. He came up with an excuse and said, “I
have to poop, Mommy. Don’t come in!” But it’s taking him far too long-
Amanda glanced at the man and saw a hint of doubt behind his
gaze.
“What are you doing, Aiden? Come out right away!” Amanda realized that the young boy
was lying.
“I’ll go out later. I’m busy!”
His words were laughable. What could a young boy be busy doing in the bathroom?
Realizing what was on the young boy’s mind, Elias stopped Amanda from knocking on the
door.
“Forget it. I’ll visit him another day. Give him some time.”
The man looked at the door and said solemnly, “Aiden, it’s fine even if you don’t want to
call me Dad. You can still call me Uncle Elias. Come out and eat your food. Otherwise,
you’ll be hungry and can’t sleep at night.”
With that, he turned around and left without even saying goodbye. He wasn’t in the mood
to stay there any longer. There were many things he had to deal with, and he was going to
meet some smaller shareholders.
When Amanda saw how dispassionate and exhausted he looked, she ran after him and
called out to him. “Elias…”
The man stopped in his tracks and turned around. “What’s wrong? Anything else?”
Amanda wasn’t used to the man acting so cold and distant, which was unlike how he used
to treat her. Even when his first love Natasha became his secretary back then, she didn’t
mind it because she knew that Elias was in love with her. But now, she could clearly feel
that he had seemingly decided to let go of her.
“You… How have you been doing for the past few days? Is everything on the right at the
company?”
Upon finishing her words, Amanda realized she could only ask such unimportant questions
as she had not idea what to say.

troublesome, so I’ll have less. time to visit Aiden. Please take good care of him during this
period.”
His voice sounded so distant that it was terrifying.
It was as if he was treating her like she was an outsider, even though they used to be a
married couple.
“Yeah, sure. It’s what I’m supposed to do.” Amanda had no idea how else she could reply
to him.
Elias put on a faint smile and opened the door to leave.
When Aiden heard the door closing, he quickly left the bathroom. It seemed that he was
indeed avoiding Elias.
On the other hand, a doubtful Selina approached Amanda and asked curiously, “Your ex-
husband was acting strangely. It’s as if he’s no longer interested in you. He said he was
only here to see the child. Does it mean he doesn’t love you anymore?”
Amanda looked dazedly at the door. “Perhaps he thinks that his grandfather’s death has
something to do
with me.”
If he never doubted her, he wouldn’t have treated her coldly.
Perhaps his grandfather’s death has also taken his love for me away. Or, he was only
wooing me because of his grandfather. Now that Old Mr. Winters is gone, there’s no need
for him to keep acting. Is that the real him now?
She had no idea what was on the man’s mind.
“Amanda…” Selina suddenly felt sorry for her, thinking that the woman was giving herself
too much pressure.
Elias entered the car and ordered, “Go back to the company now.”
Yacob was about to doze off when he heard Elias’ voice. He immediately came to his
senses and rubbed his eyes. Then, he straightened up and revved up the car.
I thought Mr. Winters would be staying over at Miss Bailey’s home. Why did he leave her
house so soon?
