Vol 3
All that Elias could feel was disbelief as he stared at the woman that was supposedly his twin sister.
His eyes swept over her face, studying her features and trying to find any sort of similarities that backed up Scott's claim. She had the same eye color as him and his father, but he knew a lot of people had brown eyes. A lot of people had black hair.
Yes she might resemble his mother but now there were plastic surgeries to look like someone. That wasn't enough to prove that Scott was right.
"I don't believe you," Elias said as he shook his head. He steadied himself, feeling Alyssa grab onto his arm for support.
He felt an unsettling energy inside of him as he stood near the woman. It was a sort of tension that he couldn't describe or shake. He didn't know what it was.
Scott smirked and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Yeah, I figured. It's the truth," he replied as he looked over at the woman.
The woman drew in a deep breath through her nose, looking a bit nervous. She stepped closer to Elias.
"I'm Melina. We were separated at birth," she told Elias.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtElias stared at her for a few seconds. It was so hard to figure out what was the truth and what wasn't.
It didn't make any sense for him to have a secret twin sister. What would his parents have gained from hiding her from him?
"Why? My parents are good people. They wouldn't just separate us if they had twins.
They certainly had enough money and space for the two of us," he replied. His tone was a bit stern, but he was too on edge to be nice to this stranger.
Alyssa dug her nails into his arms slightly, which was probably a warning for him to relax, but that wasn't going to happen any time soon.
Melina frowned slightly as she gazed up at Elias. She brushed her fingers through her hair, busting her hands.
"It's complicated, but they had their reasons. They wanted to protect us," she told him.
"From what?" Elias asked. The world was dangerous to anyone. That was no reason to separate twins from each other. He thought that people were stronger in numbers rather than when they were alone.
Melina's eyes shifted around before redirecting themselves back to Elias.
"You have no idea what danger lurks out there, especially for people like us," she said in a quieter voice.
"What are you even talking about? People like us?" Elias asked, now starting to grow frustrated.
He didn't like how everyone was talking in riddles around him and not giving him straight answers. Where did all of these secrets suddenly come from?
"Mom is a half demon and half human. Dad comes from a bloodline of witches. Did you ever think about how that affected you?" Melina asked him as she narrowed her eyes slightly in confusion.
Alyssa stared at the two of them in shock, but she remained quiet.
Elias shook his head quietly, trying to piece some things together in his head. He knew what his parents were, but he didn't give it much thought.
He was a supernatural being through and through, even if he acted like a human a majority of the time. He didn't care for the drama and consequences of being a creature of darkness.
His desires and dreams were similar to human ones: be successful, make deep connections and relationships, and be happy with his life.
"No, I'm a half demon and half human like my mom. I never had any witch powers," Elias replied.
He vaguely remembered his grandfather trying to teach him when he was younger, but he didn't have the power to be a witch.
He only had demon abilities, so his grandfather switched to teaching him how to hide and maintain his true nature. He helped him control his bloodlust thirst and blend in with the outside world.
"Well, I did. I'm a witch. You're a hybrid. Together, we're two parts of a powerful whole," Melina continued her explanation as she gestured to herself with her hand. A few black symbols were tattooed on her fingers and hands.
"If we're supposedly so good together, it was a stupid idea to separate us. Do you hear how crazy all of this sounds?" Elias asked her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"She's telling the truth if you would just shut up and listen," Scott snapped at Elias, stepping closer to him.
Elias turned on Scott, refusing to take any lip from someone who kept sneaking in and out of his life.
Scott was a snake, and if Scott was behind this whole charade, he wasn't going to believe a word of it. Scott was trying to trick him somehow.
"What are you doing? I know you're up to something! Who is she really?" he asked. Scott had to be lying.
Nothing else made sense. He couldn't possibly have a twin sister that he had never known about.
His parents never mentioned anything about another sibling or anything along those lines to hint at him having a twin sister.
"He's telling the truth!" Melina said, trying to break her way between Scott and Elias.
"You're not my sister!" Elias shouted at her.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Elias suddenly felt a strong force on his chest. He was knocked back away from Melina and into the ground with a pained huff.
He gasped in a deep breath to try to catch his breath, feeling a tight sensation in his chest as he stared up from laying on the ground.
Alyssa rushed over to his side, kneeling down to take his hand. Her eyes swept over him to check on him.
"Are you okay?" she asked him.
Elias wasn't entirely sure about how to answer that. His body ached from whatever hit him.. He lifted his head to look over at Melina, seeing a tall, built man next to her in a leather jacket with short dirty blonde hair.
