Chapter 171

My heart raced as | watched him, | was curious. What kind of a man is Lord Shevek? My father.

I never knew what it meant, having a father and now | suddenly have one. My emotions swirled inside me,

excitement, fear, anger, and hope. | knew | should be angry, demanding answers. But all | could do was stare at

him, wondering what kind of father he would have been toif he had known that | existed.

A Lot of things could have been different if he were here, | would have known earlier about my kind. He might've

been able to teachhow to channel my Vampire side more, or even train me.

| wouldn't have been treated like a worthless Omega in the first place, | would have known a father’s love. But

still, it isn’t too late.

“Mom.” | said as | softly moved my mother to the side, standing closer to Lord Shevek as I ignored my mother’s

sound of protest.

| crossed my arms and lifted my chin. “What do you want?”

Lord Shevek’s eyes locked onto mine, his expression calm “Please sit,” he said, sitting back down on the same

couch he stood up from and leaned against it. He looked composed and noble, with a subtle smile on his lips.

| took the couch opposite him, repeating my question. “Why are you here?”

“I cto see you.” He lookedstraight in the eyes.

“Why now? After all these years?” | frowned.

“I don't like this. | still think you need to leave.” my mother grumbled.

She was anxious, and | understood. In any other circumstances, | could have demanded he left just like she

wanted, but not now.

And even though my mother was scared of losingthe way she lost Olivia, | wouldn't let Lord Shevek leave

without getting the answers | needed.

Lord Shevek took a moment to think, before he finally answered “I never knew | had a daughter, not until a few

days ago.” He sighed. “I got an anonymous letter, tellingabout you, Eden.”

| gave my mother a sharp look. She knew where my father was all this while? “Did you write the letter?”

Suspicion was etched on my face. “

She shook her head furiously “I didn’t write any letter to him. | had no idea where Shevek had been. How could |

write a letter to him if I don’t know the address to send it to?” She said.

It made sense. But then who else would have written the letter?

“Who else knows about my father.” | asked.

Mom shook her head. “Only Alpha Griffin, his wife, Eros and you, know about your him being a Vampire.”

Lord Shevek leaned forward, his gaze riveted on my mother. “I imagined you were the one who sentthe

letter to makecfind you.”

“No!” Mom snapped

Lord Shevek smirked and leaned back, his movements calculated “At first, | feared it was skind of trick, so |

had my men go out to investigate. And when they did, they confirmed that it was the truth... That's why I'm

here.”

My mother scoffed. “If you really cared, why didn’t you try to look forafter that night?”

| looked at her. She had a lost look in her eyes as she continued. “You were my first.”

My heart squeezed at the pain in her voice. This was a pain that she had carried for years and hearing her

confess it madefeel like | was intruding in a very vulnerable part of her life.

“Rose...” Lord Shevek started.

“No! Don’t call my name. That night you acted as if you were in love with me, | fooled myself into thinking

maybe | could work something out with -you.” She finished.

There was a small silence. The only sound was my mother’s sobs. “You could have looked for me.”

“I'm sorry...” Lord Shevek sighed. “I never imagined that you would get pregnant after the night we spent

together. It shouldn't be possible. But somehow, you got pregnant.” His eyes flicked to me.

“When a Vampire sleeps with a Wolf, nothing comes out of it. The only tit happens is when the Original

hybrids created by the moon goddess sleeps with another- they can conceive with wolf or Vampire because

they're the moon goddess’ descendants.”

Then he smiled heartily “She is a blessing.”

My mom's anger flared.

“Don’t manipulate her!” She snapped. “I know what you are trying to do, to take her away from me.”

Lord Shevek frowned. “If my intention was to cand take Eden away, | would have done that without your

approval. | thought | already made that clear.”

It didn’t look like my mom would back down, and so | had to pacify her. “Mom...” | called gently.

She looked atwith tears in her eyes. “I can’t lose you too Eden. You mean everything to me.”

My heart broke. | moved closer and held her hand in mine. “I'm not going anywhere.”

My mom sniffed and looked back at Lord Shivek who watched us..

I saw the guilt in his eyes. Despite how rigid and cold he looked, there was a certain way he looked at us that

madeunderstand that he cared alot more than he allowed himself to show.

“I would never try to make you cry.” He murmured, and my mother sniffed before glaring at him. “Easy for you to

say, when | have spent the latter part of my life rethinking what we did... You leftalone with our child.

Shevek, you have no idea how | suffered because of it. | had no one to support me...”

“If only | had known that you were pregnant, | wouldn't have left you.” Lord Shevek replied. “Eden is a miracle.”

| looked at him, and smiled at the warmth in his gaze. | felt my heart race at the way he watchedlike he

couldn't believe | existed.

He truly madefeel like a miracle.
