The Beta’s Regret

Chapter 67

The next few hours passed in a blur and the tof the ball was upon us. | smiled wistfully at the preparations

from the window, before | saw the wide gates of the mansion creak

The guests were beginning to cin. There were men and women dressed in finery, their poses confident and

their attire demanding respect.

Handsmen | had never seen before, stepped out of their cars as Beta Arthur rushed forward to greet them.

Then a group of gorgeous girls walked in, and stood directly below my window.

They were wearing fashionable clothes, their hair and make up perfect and their dresses ensuring that their

curves were well displayed

The place was being filled with beautiful people. Everybody was looking around at the place. with bright faces

and | could not help but wonder what they were thinking about it.

“The mansion is exquisite” One of the girls, a brunette commented and her friend, a curly haired girl, added.

“So is the Hybrid King”

The girls didn’t know that | could hear them. They were adjusting their dresses and hair while talking about Eros.

My ears on it’s accord perked it heard “Eros”

“But he is so cold and aloof. I've been trying so hard to get a glimpse of him but he just doesn’t leave his

mansion” | chuckled at that line.

The curly haired girl replied, “True, but | heard a rumor that he took in a breeder. | believe the curse is really

making him impatient

The other girl curled her hands into fists and did a little dance of excitement. That is why we are having this ball.

And, | am going to ensure he only has eyes on me.” She said while twirling a lock of her hair. My smile wavered.

“How are you going to do that, Belle?” The curly haired girl asked and Stacia, the brunette girl, fluttered her

eyelashes.

“By using this.

She showed her friends a small bottle hidden in her purse. “I am going to mix this in his drink and seduce him.

Then when he has marked me, he would have no option but to choose me.”

Belle wriggled her eyebrows as her friend shrieked, “You are a naughty girl”

Stacia shrugged, “Everything is fair in love and war. And, King Eros is mine.”

My eyes widened at their scheming. | thought of ways that | could prevent that from happening maybe I'd just

have to keep a close watch on Eros.. and yes, he was still free to choose any of these girls as his mate. | really do

not have a hold over

him.

Despite these thoughts, a frown etched on my face and the little feeling of jealousy was bubbling inside ofas

| heard a few more girls gush about him.

| had no idea King Eros was even so popular among the girls or even the men. | quietly closed the window.

| shook my head and went back to lay on the bed when one of the side doors but a chirpy voice greeted me.

“Oh my God, Eden. Why are you still not ready?”

| turned around to see Beauty standing a few feet away fromher hands on her hips.

“I did not know | was invited” answered truthfully. Well, it w

was a half-truth.

Not only was | mateless but also wolfless. No man would wantbecause | was the lowest

Beauty cforward and pointed a finger at me.

“What do you mean by not being invited? You are a guest here too.”

| shrugged as she looked atfrom head to toe.

“Now are you going back inside and changing into something decent or should | shout at your

again!”

| gave her a smile. “I...I will happily watch the event from my room’s window.”

Beauty shook her head, “You are going to change into nice clothes or | am coming and making you wear it.”

| raised my hands in surrender, “Okay fine. I'll just do that,”

“You better,” as she smiled. | gave her a quick once over and asked. Are you not changing?”

She was wearing a simple blue blouse and long pants

“Ahh, | did not want to but on second thought letjoin you”

“Huh?”

And before | could protest, she was pullingoff the be, all the way up to the bathroom.

My protests fell on deaf ears as madetake a quick shower while she selected a dress andaccessories for me.

“Is this really necessary?” | asked miserably but she only glared at me.

Beauty spent almost an hour, painting my nails, styling my hair, and applying makeup all the while askingto

keep my eyes closed

She had not even letsee what dress she had chosen forand only instructedto wear it.

| only felt the way she pushed accessories up my body, worked with the zips, and played with my hair.

“Why are you wasting all of your ton me?

You have to get ready too.

| said but she shook her head, “I like helping other girls get ready. | used to help my...never mind

She had started to open up about her life but quickly closed her ups.

| wanted to ask her more about her personal life and family but seemed like the topic would be later...

| felt the soft brush upon my cheeks a few times before she finally huffed, “Phew, that was a lot of hard work but

still it was interesting

“Can | open my eyes now?”

| asked and she replied. “Oh right, now you can”

So | looked at the reflection in the mirror that was staring back atand screamed.

Beauty was so startled that she too screamed, thinking that there was a bug or something around her, and

swatted her hands wildly.

“Beauty, what did you do?” | asked, staring at my reflection in shock.

“What? What did | do?” she hurriedly cover toand placed her hands on my shoulders.

“That does not look like me,” | said, and she only slapped my shoulder lightly.

“God, you scared me

| felt tears brimming in my eyes as | looked at her. “Thank you”
