Saskia had already gone to bed when she heard Yuri's voice change, alerting her that something was wrong. She pushed Gabriel
aside in a rush.
"lI need to go home."
Gabriel, his clothes in disarray, was incredulous. "Now?"
At this hour, she wanted to go back?
Saskia couldn't afford to delay. "You'reing with me."
Gabriel was impatient but wouldn't let Saskia go alone. He changed quickly, and together, under the cover of night, they hurried
back to the Lte Mansion.
Gabriel was still trying to grasp what was happening.
As they entered the living room, a flying coffee mug greeted them, aimed straight at Saskia!
"Dad!"
The mug hit Saskia, cutting her forehead and drawing blood. Yuri's face was stormy. "Really, Saskia!"

Trembling with pain, Saskia managed, "Dad, what's happened?"
Yuri, fuming with anger, grabbed a stack of documents. "Take a good look at this!"
As Saskia saw what was in the documents, her face drained of color, her gaze shifting back to Yuri in shock.
"Saskia, I've raised you for thirty years. Where have | gone wrong that you would betray my daughter like this!"
Yuri was pale with rage. "I've provided for you, never mistreated you!"
The revelation caught Saskia off-guard.
Ignoring the throbbing pain on her forehead, she retorted with a cold laugh, "Treatedlike your own daughter?"
"How dare you say that? At my wedding, you gavea mere three hundred million dollars in dowry, while you've handed
everything over to Brittany!"
"Why does she get to waltz into the headquarters upon her return? Why does she get to choose any department she fancies while
you refuseeven a visit to the headquarters?"
Eyes brimming with tears, Saskia accused, "You claim to treatlike your own, but have you ever treated us equally?"
"Talking about real daughters, it's all lies!"
"Saskia!"
Holden, overhearing this, was frantic, reprimanding sharply, "Shut up!"
"Why are you yelling at me? I've always known he never sawas his own. Why does Brittany get everything, and | get nothing?"
Saskia was beside herself with grievance. "If he had been fair, would | have resorted to this?"
All of this, it was Yuri's fault. His bias. He had caused Brittany to bear such a heavy burden.
"You still feel wronged?"
Yuri scoffed, "Ungrateful wretch!"
"Saskia, if not for the Lte family, you would have frozen to death on the streets long ago. How would you have today?"
He pointed at Saskia. "Yes, | am biased. So what? Even with my own flesh and blood, there are preferences. You're not my
biological daughter, so what if I'm biased?"
"For thirty years, you've had no worries about food or shelter. The properties and shares in your nwould set you up for life!"

"If | had taken from you to give to her, it would be my fault. But it was mine to give. What does it have to do with you?"
Brittany had remained silent throughout. She had a hunch about who was behind it all from the moment things went south. But
she hadn't expected the truth toe to light so soon.
Guilt filled Yuri's heart, thinking of Brittany's hardships. He was furious at Saskia. "Had | known I'd raise such an ingrate, I'd never
have taken you in!"
Saskia stood there, her face ghostly pale.
Holden was at a loss for words.
After a moment, it was Gabriel who spoke. "Saskia, apologize to Dad. Admit you were wrong."
If they were to sever ties with the Lte family, his life would be difficult too.
"No!"
Yuri didn't care for her apology. "Since you think I've treated you so poorly, from now on, you need note back."
"Dad—"
