Chapter 835
The sound of his swallowing again reached her ears, a signal she knew all too well.
A sense of alarm coursed through her as she quickly pulled herself upright in the passenger seat and put some
distance between them.
She glanced nervously ahead, suggesting, “We should hurry home. The kids have been back from school and
waiting at home.”
Lysander glanced at her with his cloudy gaze; instead of pressing the matter any further, he started the car.
Everything went well as the vehicle returned to the smooth asphalt.
Thalassa heaved a sigh of relief. She could tell Lysander was irked, but for some reason, he had reined in his anger
and spared her any real backlash.
Why?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAfter a moment of puzzlement, she gritted her teeth. She had underestimated Ethan’s propensity for gossip; he
even revealed the smallest of matters to Lysander.
What a meddlesome boss! She’d leave his office sooner or later!

As the car came to a halt in the driveway of their suburban home, Thalassa couldn’t wait to jump out and head
inside.
“Fitch, take us to Grandma’s house!” Atticus was the first to demand. His boyish charm was in full display.
Elowen folded her arms, her voice filled with a feisty nature, “Yeah, take us to Grandma’s or you’ll see me cry.”
“We want to see Mom and Grandma both.” Dorian’s eyes sparkled with tears; his show of innocence was in full
swing.
“Grandma and Mom!” Sophia clenched her fists at her sides, using all her might.
Fitch wiped the sweat off his forehead as he tried to soothe the kids, “Your dad bought you lots of toys. Why don’t
you play with those while we wait for him to come back and take you, okay?”
Without Lysander’s permission, Fitch would never dare to take the kids to their grandmother’s.
“I want my paper boat that Grandma made. It got all soggy when I took it into the bath.” Elowen pouted; her
treasured paper toy had met a watery end.
“I want a paper fan.”
“I want a gun.”
“I want a paper airplane!”
Fitch was somehow at a loss. Despite Lysander buying them high-end toys, they only wanted the paper toys their
grandmother made.
Even the ones he folded, they refused.
Pleasing these kids was harder than he thought.
“Atticus, Dorian, Elowen, Sophia, don’t make things difficult for Fitch.” Thalassa stepped in and said in a soft tone.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe knew he was in a bind on seeing his sweat-soaked face, so she decided to step in to defuse the situation.
At her words, all four kids turned simultaneously. The moment they saw Thalassa, their innocent eyes lit up and
they sprinted towards her. “Mom, you’re back!”
“If you didn’t come back soon, we were going to come find you.”
The little ones crowded around her legs, clutching at her pants and looking up at her with adorable, beaming faces.
“Mom, what happened to your lips?” Elowen suddenly posed a soul-searching question.
Thalassa hastily touched her lips. They felt swollen. She needed no mirror to know Lysander’s twenty-minute kiss
was the culprit.
Before she could respond, Lysander approached from behind. His powerful aura and towering figure cast a shadow
over her.
Thalassa’s heart clenched, her prepared explanation sounding awkward and embarrassed, “It’s an allergy reaction.
I’ll put ice on it later and it’ll be fine. As she spoke, she didn’t dare make eye contact with Lysander, fearful he’d
expose her white lie in front of the kids.
