Lin Xiaofei stayed for a bit longer inside the side courtyard before leaving to take care of some matters. Since the wedding will happen tomorrow, even if she didn't want an old madam to teach her, the preparations a bride still have to do could not be ignored.
Walking around the residence and stopping before her grandfather's courtyard, Lin Xiaofei entered and saw Lin Xiaomeng sitting on the edge of the bed. His face was a little pale but compared to how she first saw him after he was poisoned, it didn't make her worry too much.
"Fei'er you're here." Lin Xiaomeng happily said as he saw his granddaughter visiting him.
Walking over to stand before him, Lin Xaofei looked around her and saw that Lin Feng wasn't around. Her uncle seemed to be quite preoccupied with the matters of the Qu residence, and on top of that, her wedding was probably stealing him from his precious sleep.
"How are you feeling? I heard that the fifth prince's people came again this morning to find you." She said and took a sit on one of the chairs across the bed, "I was planning to block the gate and banning anyone from the royal family from entering the residence but First Uncle said it would do no good for us if we keep them away especially since the wedding is tomorrow."
Lin Xiaomeng choked up when he heard what she said.
He always thought that he was used to how unruly and rebellious Lin Xiaofei acted. No matter if she disrespected the monarch or the outstanding noble young lords and ladies, time to time, Lin Xiaofei would undoubtedly try to surpass her previous actions with much stubbornness and lawless-like behaviour.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThis only made him wonder where she got these traits from? Was it from his daughter? But his good daughter was born and treated well so that when she grew up, she was an elegant young lady that was frequently praised by madams. Don't even mention that foolish father of his granddaughter, even if Lin Xiaomeng hated that blind fool for throwing away his daughter after marrying her, he still couldn't deny that Lin Xiaofei's real father was a scholar and didn't seem to have the tendencies to act waywardly.
This only meant that his granddaughter was unique and special.
Comforted by his thoughts, Lin Xiaomeng sighed.
On the other hand, if Lin Xiaofei were to hear his thoughts, she'll probably vomit blood for being cursed at by him.
"Now that you mentioned it…" Lin Xiaomeng raised his head to meet her eyes and continued, "Your wedding will be held tomorrow. Several people will definitely not pass up this chance to get closer to the duke so you must stay alert."
Lin Xiaomeng was already old but he had his own share of schemes that many others concocted to harm him. The least he wanted this time was the same thing to happen to her.
Knowing his concerns, Lin Xiaofei assured him, "Don't worry grandfather. Those people won't be able to do anything to me." Well, they should be more prepared for what she has planned for them tomorrow, she thought.
"In any case, you will officially marry the duke. It's a pity that your mother and grandmother aren't here. If they were, they would absolutely tell you everything they knew and teach you on how to serve your husband." Lin Xiaomeng paused for a few seconds for her to digest his words. He then continued, "As for the duke, don't worry about him. I can see that he treats you well. Just make sure to listen to him and respect each other."
"I understand grandfather." Lin Xiaofei quickly said although she doubted the last part of his words. Listen to him and respect each other? If she did listen to him, he'll probably con her into doing some things that makes a woman blush.
As for respecting each other… She'll only do that if he starts respecting her privacy.
In any case, she doubted that both of them will try to do the two things her grandfather told her to remember.
After spending an hour inside her grandfather's courtyard, Lin Xiaofei finally went back to her room. The silence seemed to give a moment of peace. The amalgam of light and darkness inside the room calmed the erratic nerves that seemed to force her to think that she was dreaming.
She was going to marry tomorrow.
And she's going to marry the most dangerous and ruthless man.
Lin Xiaofei closed her eyes and seemed to have dived in a pool of cinematography of everything she has done ever since she had transmigrated inside this body. Picture-like scenes reminded her how much she wanted revenge, and the hatred that accumulated inside her heart. The revenge part didn't change but the hatred seemed to thaw a bit like an ice lying near a fire. At least, now she wasn't alone.
Next, she saw herself standing before the masked Qu Xing Xu in that red lit room in Hong Pei Lou. That was their first time to have directly encountered each other and started to get interested in their games of cat and mouse.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe could still remember that she adamantly told herself to not get entangled with him. But several circumstances seemed to rub them together and eventually, they ended up stuck to each other. How laughable was that?
Hearing a faint noise of footsteps coming from behind her, Lin Xiaofei didn't bother opening her eyes. She was already familiar with the sound of his footsteps and knew who exactly was trying to walk behind her.
It was precisely Qu Xing Xu.
Watching her silently, Qu Xing Xu waited for her to notice him and tell him to get out. He was already used to her scolding him and he extremely loved the feeling of it. However, nothing could beat the feeling of teasing her endlessly.
"What are you thinking about?" He lazily spoke behind her.
He was about to reach his arms out to hug her from behind when he heard say, "I'm thinking about exposing myself completely to you." It was time… Time for her to take the hardest test in her life and tell him the truth.
"...You are?" His voice sounded surprised and before she could say a word, he added, "And here I thought, you would wait for our wedding night. Tsk, tsk… Lin Xiaofei, I didn;t know you were so eager to cross the line."
Lin Xiaofei: "..."
Suddenly, Lin Xiaofei had the urge to beat up someone.
