Hearing that, Avery gave up.
If he heads outside like this, he'll most likely have his photos taken by the paparazzi trailing him with all
the attention he gets, and sparked a media frenzy.
It's also unrealistic if he leaves after a change of clothes. After all, the usually reliable Xavier was on a
date and won't be of help.
I understand that one shouldn't interrupt someone's date. Moreover, Xavier isn't young anymore. It
must have been challenging to find love at his age. But what should I do now?
Avery glanced at the clock. “It's too late now. All the malls are closing soon. I'm afraid they'll close
before I even get there, so it looks like buying new pants for you is out of the question.”
“So, are you implying I'll be staying here tonight?” Cayden didn't even spare a glance at her and left the
restroom with a dark look.
Avery stood rooted at the restroom entryway in a daze.
Her fingers clenching at the door frame showed how unwilling she was.
That wasn't what I was implying, and he didn't look happy about it at all.
Come on. This is my house.
“Where am I sleeping, Ms. Ery?” Rory clung to Avery's leg and looked up at her with red-rimmed eyes.
Avery lowered her head to look at Rory and carried her into her bedroom. “Is it okay if we sleep on this
bed together?”
“Sure...” Rory snuggled in Avery's embrace with satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Cayden had turned on the range hood to smoke in the kitchen, and Zachary stood in the
living room, not knowing where he should sleep.
One look at Ms. Ery's bed, and I know it can only fit two people. If Ms. Ery wants to sleep with Rory,
does that mean I'll have to sleep in the other room?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBut I want to sleep with Ms. Ery too.
Huh, whatever... Luckily, I'm brave and already used to sleeping alone.
“Daddy, why are you still here?” Zachary brought the empty glass to the kitchen, planning to refill it.
He was surprised to see his father there.
Cayden turned around and eyed Zachary gloomily.
Does all of them want me to leave?
Baffled by his father's gaze, Zachary swung his gaze to the pitcher, then glanced at Cayden. “Are you
also staying here? Are you crashing on the couch or sharing a bed with me?”
Avery had finished bathing Rory. Her place couldn't even compare to the condominium Cayden bought.
She only had basic shower facilities in her house, a shower head and heater. However, the heater had
some issues with fluctuating temperatures.
“Put this on before you catch a cold.” It was almost the end of summer. With the coming of fall, the
night air was rather cooling.
Avery didn't want the kids to catch a cold, but with Rory's sudden sleepover. She didn't have any
pajamas for the child, and it was too late to go out and buy one, so she took out one of her shirts and
put it on the child.
Since Avery was worried about the water drenching the bandage and wetting Rory's eyes, she didn't
wash her hair.
“I'll hide you underneath my blanket.” Avery carried Rory onto her bed, covering her with a blanket. She
leaned in and kissed Rory goodnight on the forehead.
Rory gazed at Avery lovingly and said, “Good night, Ms. Ery.”
“Good night.” Avery nodded.
Rory obediently closed her eyes and went to sleep. She didn't dare to misbehave as she feared that
Avery would dislike her and Zachary, or see them as nothing but trouble.
After Rory finished her shower, it was Zachary's turn.
Zachary shyly covered his body with his clothes and his face with a towel after he came out of the
restroom.
With his head hung low, he silently entered Blake's room.
The blanket was new. It was soft, fluffy, and had a nice smell on it. However, the material was nothing
out of the ordinary. It was not as expensive as the blankets at the Moore residence.
Yet, Zach liked it.
After watching Rory fall asleep, Avery gently closed the door and left the room.
I have to check on the father and son in this tiny place. I wonder if they've fallen asleep.
Avery went in search of them.
She saw Cayden reclining on the couch in front of the television in the living room. Her gaze darted to
the television to see it was a channel on financial and economic news.
Avery sighed. The channels that he likes are boring. He always watches all kinds of news and never
seems to be bored of them.
Cayden's gaze was still glued to the screen. He has deep-set facial features, short hair, and a strong
presence, every part of him spells perfection.
Even his fingers are different from other men I've seen many couples in school. There were many times
that I've seen guys caressing their girlfriends' faces. Actually, I did fantasize about him stroking my face
too...
The couch was nothing special, but because of the man sitting on it, it looked posh suddenly.
Maybe the screen was too small, and the quality wasn't that great because he was watching it intently
with furrowed brows.
Avery felt her cheeks blush with embarrassment. Well, I didn't have a choice. An average-income
family can only afford a television like this. Moreover, the landlord was kind enough to even provide this

Avery ignored Cayden, who only had eyes on the television, and opened the door to Blake's room,
entering stealthily.
Zachary had already fallen asleep. One of his short legs had kicked off the blanket. He looked like an
octopus sprawled on the bed.
He sleeps at almost the same time as Rory. It seems both of them have a regular and fixed routine.
The credit for this good habit goes to the members of the Moore family.
After staying in the room briefly, Avery left the room quietly.
When she reached the living room, she noticed that Cayden was still watching the news. Avery went
into the kitchen to pour him a glass of water. “You can sleep in Blake's room later. It's getting late, so I'll
be turning in for the night.”
Whenever she was alone with him, Avery felt a sense of awkwardness between them.
Cayden looked up at her, meeting her gaze. Avery felt his gaze dip to her belly for a moment, but she
wasn't sure.
“Are you planning on having children in the future?” Cayden reached for the glass of water in her hand
and set it on the coffee table.
Avery was puzzled by his question. Her steps toward the bedroom paused. She looked over her
shoulder to see him staring at the glass of water.
Why is he asking me this question?
Avery didn't have a clue about that question, but she still answered, “In the past, I might want another
baby, but my main concern now is finding a guy that I'm willing to have a baby with.”
“Have you found him then?” Cayden asked as he got up. His presence was eye-catching when he
stood. He picked up the remote control and turned the television off.
Avery shook her head. “I don't want to have another baby.” All I want is to give all my love to Rory and
Zach.
