Xavier was waiting to pick Cayden's kids up from school when he saw the message from Cecelia.
“Mr. Dartsley!” Rory called out in her most adorable voice possible as she ran toward him.
Xavier scooped her up with one arm and held Zachary's hand with the other before heading toward the
car.
“When will Daddy come pick us up from school again, Mr. Dartsley?” Zachary asked.
Both he and Rory knew that Cayden was very busy, but they didn't dare say a thing about it when they
saw the icy-cold look on their father's face. Since Cayden was rarely around, the kids could not help
but found themselves pitiable.
Things seemed to change when he started spending more time with them lately, but he went back to
being mostly absent again in the past few days.
Rory, too, looked at Xavier curiously after hearing her brother's question.
Xavier made sure their seatbelts were securely fastened before replying with a serious expression,
“Your father is a little busier than usual, so he won't be free for quite a while. I'll try asking him when he
can pick you two up from school again.”
He then closed the back door of the Bentley and returned to the driver's seat.
As he was driving the kids back to the Moore residence, Xavier quickly forwarded Cecelia's message
over to Cayden.
About ten minutes later, Xavier received new orders from his boss.
“Are we not going home, Mr. Dartsley?” Zachary asked when he stared out the window and saw that
they were going in a different direction.

“I'm taking you two to see your father,” Xavier replied.
In Livingsfill, Avery forced herself to finish cleaning the dishes and drying the utensils while her
colleagues gossiped among themselves outside.
Having figured out who Dylan was, they returned to their rooms upstairs so as to give the married
couple some privacy.
“You know, this is the first time I've seen you do housework ever since we got married. When will you
come home and cook a meal for Mom and Dad?” Dylan asked while watching her from the kitchen
door.
Stay calm, Avery... He's just here to annoy you.
Avery tried her best to ignore him as she continued wiping the last plate dry.
After cleaning up the kitchen, she wiped her hands dry and walked past the empty courtyard. Avery
was about to go up the stairs when she felt her arm being grabbed from behind.
She then spun around instantly, glared angrily at Dylan, and shouted out loud, “Let go of me!”
Despite her struggling with all of her might, she was simply too weak to break free from his grip.
Dylan was squeezing Avery's wrist so tightly that it had turned red. “We're husband and wife, Avery.
Can you not be so hostile to me every time we meet?” he asked gently with a smile.
Avery shook her head and said coldly, “Since when have we become husband and wife? I don't see us
as a married couple at all! A marriage certificate means nothing to me unless I consent to that
marriage!”
She then pulled her hand free and ran up the stairs after that.
Since the windows were closed, the colleagues who were on the second floor couldn't really hear what
they were saying.
However, they could see what was going on and figured Avery had gotten into a bad fight with her
husband.
Upon entering her room on the second floor, Avery quickly locked the door for fear of Dylan barging
into her room.
She then quickly cleaned up the room, pulled up a small table, and placed her laptop on it.
A few minutes later, her phone started ringing.
She answered the call the moment she saw that it was from the famous lawyer, Weston.
“Hello, this is Avery speaking!”
“You added me on WhatsApp, didn't you? After I hang up the phone, I want you to send me the exact
address of your current location so I can come over,” Weston said.
“Is it about the divorce? Can't it wait till tomorrow?” Avery asked.
I heard Weston charges by the minute! Not only is his time extremely valuable, but it is also ridiculously
expensive!
“Boss' orders. He said it's about time you move on with the divorce procedure. You're not the person
that I'm going there to see, though,” Weston replied.
I'm guessing he's referring to Cayden as “Boss.” As for the divorce procedure...
Avery made her way over to the window and saw Dylan playing with a stray dog. She instantly
understood what Weston meant.
Weston was unable to get a hold of Dylan in Ackleton. I'm guessing he already knew why Weston was
looking for him. Despite Dylan and Cayden being cousins, the two of them have always hated each
other. Dylan must know that Weston is on Cayden's side, so he probably decided to just avoid Weston
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmto be on the safe side. Now that Dylan's here in Livingsfill, Weston could probably meet him here if he
rushes over in time.
With that in mind, Avery ended the call with Weston and sent him her location.
The sky had turned dark about an hour later, but Dylan still refused to leave.
He even came upstairs and tried knocking on the door, but Avery refused to open it no matter what.
While I really don't want to open the door, Dylan might get bored with this town and return to Ackleton.
If that happens, Weston won't be able to catch up to him!
After giving it some thought, Avery opened the door and went back to working on her laptop.
“Are you that busy?” Dylan asked as he came into the room. Seeing as there weren't any spare chairs
lying around, he had no choice but to sit on the floor like Avery did.
Due to the lack of a backrest, Dylan soon got tired of sitting, and he lay down as he watched her work.
It wasn't long before his gaze shifted from the design blueprints on the screen to the serious look on
her face.
By the time Weston arrived, Dylan had fallen asleep on the floor.
“Are you asleep, Mr. Musk?” Weston asked in a formal tone.
Dylan slowly opened his eyes when he heard that, only to see Weston staring at him inside the tiny
room.
“It was really difficult to get a hold of you, Mr. Musk. Thankfully, my patience and efforts have paid off!”
Weston continued as he sat down on the floor and handed Dylan a folder containing a stack of
documents.
Dylan's eyes went wide when he saw the pen and the words “divorce agreement” written on the front
page. He then quickly glanced about the room, but Avery was nowhere in sight.
D*mn... I can't believe this woman had the guts to set me up like this!
