Chapter 146 The ringing of his phone jolted Kris awake. Groaning, he shifted slightly and picked it up from the nightstand. He froze when he saw the caller ID-it was his mother.
Kris stared at the phone for several seconds before tossing onto the bed beside him, unanswered. It rang again, but he simply watched until it stopped.
Then he sank back into his pillow with a sigh. He knew he would have to speak to his mother sooner or later. Remembering the day of the Fashion Awards show, when he accused her of being behind the sabotage, guilt twisted his stomach.

He owed her a big apology for assuming the worst, but he would do it later. Right now, his focus was solely on winning Thalassa back.
Remembering their conversation last night, guilt consumed him. He had seen the pain mixed with anger in her eyes. The pain he had caused.
God, he had so much to make up to her for. He didn't know how long it was going to take him, but he wasn't going to stop until all those scars were healed and she finally trusted him with her heart again.
Getting out of bed, he took his sling and bandage off as he headed to the bathroom to freshen up. His arm hurt less than it had yesterday, but that had done nothing to help him sleep better when he couldn't stop thinking about Thalassa.
Once he finished freshening up and had changed into a shirt and shorts, Luisa cto check on him and helped him put on the bandage and sling before leaving to go prepare breakfast.
Preparing to go downstairs, his heart raced. How was he going to face Thalassa? What if she looked at him with the sdisdain she had last night? Every tshe did, it killed him a little.
Hesitating, it took him several minutes before he gathered enough courage to step out of his room and go downstairs.

When Zeke noticed him, his eyes widened slightly with shock as he straightened. The casual atmosphere immediately shifted into tension.
"Kris?" He said incredulously, his brows furrowing. "What the hell are you doing here?" Luisa glanced over her shoulder, sensing the tension. Turning off the gas she'd just turned on, she turned to face her brother.
"This is what I was trying to tell you, Zeke,” she said. "But you didn't letfinish earlier. Kris is staying with us for a few days.
Zéke looked from Luisa to Kris, a look of disbelief crossing his face. "What? He's staying here with you and Thalassa? Why? And why didn't you tell me?" Luisa raised a brow. "You've been a little preoccupied with your company's problems, remember?" "But why would you..." Zeke paused, narrowing his eyes at his sister. "What does your boyfriend think about this? Is he okay with it?" 1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 146
"Alden isn't my boyfriend...yet," Luisa said as she crossed her arms on her chest. “But even if he were, why Would he care? I'm just helping Kris for a few days. He's injured, and it's not like he's going to stay forever."
"And...and what about Thalassa?" Zeke hesitated. "Is she okay with this?"
Kris snorted as he shoved his free hand into his pocket. "What's really at's really bothering you, Zekex that your sister's helping me? Or that I'm close to Thalassa now that I'm staying here?"
